Hey everyone and welcome to another mod development diary. This time, we are focusing on all the Christmas stuff I've done so far. Most of it is based on your requests, so hang on tight and get ready for a wild jolly ride!

This is a Christmas tree. It will cost wood and gold to make, and is a necessity if you want to get your share of Christmas presents. It's quite beautiful, so don't hesitate to make more than one, as pawns will really love working around a Christmas tree. I took an inspiration from all those jolly Christmas workers - I bet they are so happy that there is a Christmas tree in their workplace on the Christmas day.

That's sarcasm, I also have to work Christmas. I hate it. Anyway, let's move on.

These are Christmas presents. If your colony has at least one Christmas Tree by winter time, Santa will make sure to drop some of these special drop pods around it. Watch out tho, falling presents can kill your colonists!

You open a present the same way you would open a cryptosleep casket - you designate a pawn to open one up. What's inside? Could be anything. Literally any ThingDef can spawn inside - that includes any item, weapon, apparel - modded or not, any pawn (cougars in your presents?) and most importantly any event. Opening a present can cause more drop pods to fall from the sky, as well as raids, solar flares, flu outbreaks and even volcanic winters.

This is a fireplace - it doesn't allow you to cook, but provides a large bonus to mood in the area. It can be made using any bricks, so it can fit perfectly into your base!

This on the other hand is eggnog, and it's a new social drug made using eggs and milk. Not quite sure what effect it would have, but we're working on it!

More content will be available in the Christmas mod, so be sure to stay tuned. Also, keep those ideas coming!

After reading the presents drop pods, I'm getting a Futurama Xmas fibe. probably already suggested: - snowball: no damage weapon but fun - snowman: buildable like the christmas tree, will melt when warm - Santa Claus caravan, with christmas items to trade

-Not sure how complicated this could be, but you might be able to use the migration event to make a Santa and sleigh sprite that functions as a single entity that players could attempt to kill as it migrates by and drops presents. Especially if this kills Christmas and permanently disables future presents from dropping, it could be an interesting way to seek vengeance for some of the more...dubious...presents. -Additionally, I’m assuming the presents are determined mostly by the difficulty and storyteller? If so, maybe having some kind “festive only” setting could be interesting: the only presents that drop are those that are related to Christmas in some way (egg nog, chocolate, volcanic winters, crappy sculptures). Alternatively, if you want to mod a special white variant of the elephant and have it drop in manhunter, that could be pretty funny ;P (white elephant gifts are backhanded: they’re utterly useless/tacky or downright harmful). On a related note, making it so that animals can drop in manhunter would be interesting if you can pull that off. -Again, not sure what this would entail, but similar to how Christmas decorations look bad when left out at the wrong time of year, maybe you can make it so that they’re really only beautiful in winter, and look ugly during the rest of the year? Otherwise it might detract from the magic as people keep trees up year round. -with regards to egg nog, I propose it give you a positive mood buff called “nog fog” that makes people hallucinate tinsel and reindeer antlers on everything. Mood bonus, but lowers sight as pawns have difficulty telling friend from foe from fireplace. -Finally, that literally anything can happen infrastructure you set up with the presents sounds like something with a lot of potential as a supplement to cult/religion mods or as a means of creating Rimworld-specific holidays worshipping kidneys and wooden feet.

Could the eggnog give a mood boost if consumed when the weather is snowy maybe? Xmas Spirit!
