Hello everyone and welcome to another development blog!

Vanilla Factions Expanded - Insectoids 2 has now been handed off to very capable hands of our programmers, who will be working as quickly as they can to deliver that awesome mod to you.

 

What the Mod Offers:

  • Insectoid Factions and Hives: The mod adds various insectoid hives, each with unique traits and inhabitants. These hives function like dynamic ecosystems, hosting different types of insectoids that perform specific roles, from workers to warriors, adding a rich layer of strategy to your gameplay.

  • Customizable Structures: Players can build a variety of insect-themed structures such as Hive Walls, Insect Jelly Walls, and Creep spawners. These aren't just decorative; they're functional parts of your strategy, influencing how you defend your bases and interact with the environment.

  • Advanced Research Tree: The mod expands the research options available to players, allowing for the development of new technologies and the construction of specialized buildings that cater to the needs of an insectoid colony. This progression offers new strategies and choices in how you develop your holdings.

  • Dynamic Events: New world events like Infested Ship Crashes and Roaming Insectoids bring additional challenges and opportunities.

  • Pherocores and bosses: You can now summon insectoid bosses and extract pherocores from their corpses. You can use those pherocores to either upgrade your existing hives, construct new hives or breed insectoid bosses of your own!

  • Combat and Defense Strategies: The mod diversifies combat by introducing raids from different insectoid genelines. Managing defenses becomes more complex as you deal with varied threats, each requiring different tactics.

  • Living with Infestation: One of the unique aspects of this mod is dealing with infested areas on the world map. These zones pose continuous threats of insectoid encounters and infestations, making settlement and travel through these areas a calculated risk.

This mod isn't just about adding content; it's about deepening the gameplay experience with systems that require new strategies and management skills. I always wanted an ant colony, and having a friendly neighbourhood hive on your map scratches that itch just fine.
