The note movement does get a bit hard to track at times. I believe it was originally three in play before they gave back one. I will leave some details vague to avoid plot spoilers. The task force has one out of the two they obtained. The Kira duo has one real, one fake, and pages between the two of them in a specific configuration. Light has a secret watch slip that he keeps for emergencies

I don't know if you guys mentioned it yet, but it would be cool to watch the L's funeral scene (scene not included in the main series). It's very short, I think less than 5 minutes.

at the end of one of the previous episodes we briefly see matt (striped shirt goggles guy) sitting with mello. he had more appearances in the manga that were unfortunately cut in the anime. he's a long time friend of mello's and was the third smartest child after near and mello at the orphanage

Hey its been a while since i've watched.... but if the police had a death note on Light's Dad death bed.... but then Light gave it to a shinigami, did Light create a fake one for the police to guard? And if the police ever tested it they could use Misa's notebook to do the actual killing?

You guys missed or just misconstrued what was happening the the opening shots. They give a lot of context to the plan . Matt(striped shirt guy, you actually see I'm a few times when you cut over to Mello he's there sitting with him) didn't have a gun and the Japanese tend not to have weapons (guns) so he believed he would just have been taken inf to questioning since that is what normally would happen however they aren't under normal circumstances they are under Kiras rule. I think you guys have had a specific image of Mello cemented in your mind and haven't assessed any new info about him.

It can get hard to keep track of the movements of the death notes at this point in the story so I thought I’d give a a little guide to clear things up. There are 4 notebooks in the story Note A - the original deathnote Light picked up Note B - the original deathnote Rem gave Misa Note C - Rem’s deathnote Note D - Ryuk’s deathnote So this is the timeline starting from Misa’s arrest: - Misa forfeits ownership of Note B - Light gives Note A to Rem - Light buries Note B in the ground - Light is imprisoned and forfeits ownership Note A after 1 week - Rem gives Note A to Higuchi - Higuchi is arrested and then killed by Light, transferring ownership of Note A back to Light - Note A is in custody of the Task Force - Misa retrieves Note B from where it is buried - Rem kills L and Watari with Note C, resulting in her death - Light claims Note C as his own - Note A is traded to Mello im exchange for Sayu Yagami - Light forfeits ownership of Note C - Light sends Note C to the Task Force, Chief Yagami takes ownership - Note A is retrieved from the Mafia - Note A is returned to the Shinigami realm - Note C remains in custody of the Task Force (Light presumably regains ownership) - Misa forfeits ownership of Note B - Light sends Note B to Mikami

Near's agent let Takeda go with Mello because she knew Mello was working towards catching Kira too. She trusted Mello, paying him back for not killing her when he could have a few episodes back. Obviously she tailed him but she let Takeda go because she realized that this cover is for whatever Mello is planning and went along with it.
