Did you notice what Camilla said in flashback is not what she said in ep10

Oscar Rich

"that slutty little door owl" is the greatest sentence of all time

Néo

No one mentioned it, but Luz actually remembered what her mom said wrong!

Dana wanted to make translators that had to erase the gayness have the hardest time possible with how often the word girlfriend is used

Hello There

another day of letts react making me bawl my eyes out

Sarah

It really is. I mean look at that owl, such a hussy

Callum Ringsy

Something about Luz is that her flashbacks to moments like with her mom are always slightly different than how they happened, typically with the dialogue. It's good because it shows how subjective and unreliable memories can be. // edit just saw other people pointed that out too but I already typed all this so I'm not deleting xD

TROPES, you mentioned? YES, Dana avoids them like The Plague. "Spouse/Lover finds secrets in stuff left lying around" trope we see too often. AMITY displayed great 👍 maturity in allowing Luz the chance to open up instead of going thru her 🦇 bat phone 🤳, What an Awesome example to show viewers!!!!!

Suplee215

One element of the phone i just noticed in this watch is this mirrors Luz with Amity's dairy as well and is a nice call back

I absolutely loved your reactions, made my night, please never change that chemistry you have with each other xD

I feel so annoying for constantly discussing Camila, but the point-of-view of a psychology major interests me I guess. You can completely ignore me, of course. I’m curious where you draw the line for manipulative versus someone stating their insecurities or if those things are mutually exclusive. I’ve always read Camila’s line as her fearing the worst when she’s confronted with her daughter running away. Regardless of what she knows about Luz’ school life, knowing your daughter ran away from home so far that she’s in another dimension would make a parent insecure. Great reaction once again! I’m excited for the next episode.

I feel the same way, all this talk about Camilla being manipulative made me very uncomfortable because I always thought she was just voicing her insecurities to herself when faced with the reality that her daughter is in the freaking demon realem and after the situation she just faced saving Vee from someone who wanted to dissect her what could Luz possibly being dealing with there and how could she possibly prefer being there than at home? Her asking if living with her was that terrible to me was her feeling as though she failed so badly as a parent that her child would rather be with monsters and demons than safe at home. Like I could definitely see how someone could think she was unintentionally being manipulative but I always thought she was a good mother, single one at that, who was just trying her best and hearing anyone talk negatively about her made me really uncomfortable:/

In case you haven't yet seen it, there's a song called Little Miss Perfect, which somebody noticed fit Amity's character very well (especially with regard to season one). So, naturally, Alex Hirsch recorded a version in the voice of Hooty.

I think “manipulative” is really a bit harsh towards Camila. Parents are allowed to have insecurities, especially in a show like this where every character has deeper, fleshed out backgrounds and histories. And especially for a person in Camila’s shoes. She just found out that she hasn’t been with her daughter for MONTHS because Luz ran away to another world. One that Camila perceives as possibly very scary, given the very traumatizing thing that just happened. And to also find out on top of that, that Luz chose to run away because of a bad choice Camila made? It’s a hard thing to learn for a parent who seems to be on her own, as far as raising Luz goes, from what we’ve seen this far. Add to that, the moment you find out your daughter ran away because of a choice you made, she immediately starts getting pulled away again? That’s some sucky timing considering Luz just finally opened up to her mom about the truth. This is months that Camila has gone not even knowing if the Luz she talked to even was the real Luz. And now Luz is being pulled back again, and they don’t know when (or IF) they’ll be able talk again? Possibly even forever? Who knows how long it will be before Luz can succeed at another portal door! For a parent, that’s gotta be terrifying. Idk, maybe it’s just because I see so much of my own mom in Camila, but I think saying that Camila voicing an insecurity is entirely manipulative in motivation feels a bit harsh. I understand why someone might judge her past choices thus far, as she made some really bad calls, and I’ll even admit this ALSO was a bad call. But I think the emotion and fear of losing Luz becoming so real allows her a bit of wiggle room to make a bad call here. Her willingness to accept Vee so quickly, and provide her a home where she’s safe and cared about, even in the face of that fear, is a huge proof of her character.

(PS: oh hey that was my question at the end of the video lmao! I like your theories :D)
