It was a wise move on the writers' part to clarify that Gwen was not a killer (Gunn), but just a thief. She instantly regretted what she did, and restarted Gunn's heart.

Possibly because I was still in favor of a Fred/Wesley relationship, but I could never get behind the romance with her and Gunn. However, I do understand her response when the two have a conversation about his temporary death. She had to let her feelings out at some point.
