I really like Leng and Praew’s presence in this show. They both seem chaotic in a way, so seeing them deal this more ‘real’ situation is interesting. I love these early scenes between Li Meng and Heart sooo much. You explained it perfectly, they kinda get things from each other that they don’t get anywhere else. Li Meng gets to slow down and gets silence and Heart gets someone around to talk to. It’s funny how what the other needs is kinda what the other is trying to get away from, but it balances them out. It’s kinda funny to see Gaipa compared to Ray after watching them back-to-back. I feel like it’s hard to not see him having this secret intention that it always felt like Ray had, but I think Gaipa is more on the sweeter side. He just seems sweet and kinda aloof, not having that arrogant feel Ray has. Also the contrast is fun to see the actor play. From Ray (who has ever worked a day in his life, struggles with a lot of mental health problems and addiction, very rich, can get whatever he wants attitude) to Gaipa (who seems like a hard worker, not 'poor' like Jim's family but not well-off either, seems kind by helping Jim with money and stuff) is sooo fun to see. With Li Meng, I think it’s a bunch of things. He’s not doing well in school, they don’t really have much money, he wants to go overseas, he’s not very motivated… lots of reasons why the university talk makes him frustrated. The relationship between him and Jim is also very interesting because you can tell Jim doesn’t want to be pushy or be more ‘parent’-like, but he still kinda has to be as Li Meng’s guardian. I think Wen being nice to Li Meng and helping him a bit at the mall was sooo sweet. You’re catching onto Heart’s home life and family a lot quicker than I’ve seen most people do. I liked the whole lunch part with Wen and Jim, it really showed the wealth difference between them so well. Like Wen being like “well I go to the diner to spend time with you,” probably feels weird to Jim because everyone else who works at the diner NEEDS to in order to just get by, while it’s just kinda ‘extra time’ or ‘fun’ to Wen. Also, I just have to say it’s awesome that you go back and watch the ads and like the videos! Thanks for supporting the show!!
