I was very sceptical about this adaptation. But this was a good episode! Personally I´m just a bit burned out on the story because the writer, Neil Druckmann, just comes off as sooo pretentious and arrogant. Like his statements about how this elevated video game stories and is the best thing ever created. He just feels so full of himself. Generally he always sounds like he hates that he does video games and it just feels weird. I was very worried because they actively discouraged the actors to play the game, and I know you should do your own interpretation, but I think it would be good to be familiar with the source material to get a feel for the character. For example Marlene´s actress did a great job! And she was obviously familiar with the story and the character. I think it would be fun to maybe watch the game cutscene compilations after the season is over. I assume they are adapting the entire first game. Watching the cutscenes isn´t the ideal way to experience the game, but it´s okay. Would be nice to see the difference´s in how the characters are portrayed. By the way in the game Ellie is voiced by Ashley Johnson. aka Pike from Vox Machina.

I don't knwo anything about the writer, but that does sound really annoying lol I agree that it would've been a good idea in my opinion to have them play the game to a certain extent. It's like when an actor reads the book before staring in the movie. And I did hear Ashley Johnson voiced her! I think I may watch the cut scenes that apply to each episode after the episode as they come because I'm curious to see what they're like.
