Just wanted to share this! I enjoy the reviews from this old site, especially the two copied/pasted ones below: - The next edition of Henry's story book being "Diary of a Storybrooke Kid: A Pirate Took My Pop-Tart!" - "Henry's used to hanging out with reformed murderers" response to Hook's confession made me lol https://onceuponasnarkyrecap.wordpress.com/2016/10/31/once-upon-a-time-season-6-episode-6-recap-pop-tarts-pirates-people-from-the-past/

Dark Waters- Thank you very much for such a fun reaction to the first of my favorite episodes this season, Jessie! First, in answer to your question regarding which story Captain Nemo and his ship, the Nautilus comes from... They're actually from the classic novel... 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, written by Jules Verne, who is one of my favorite authors. It's a fantastic classic, and so I am happy this. nd it's great that 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea isn't the only Jules Verne classic referenced in this storyline either. Nemo also talks to Hook in the backstory about them seeking this new land known by the Mysterious Island, which Killian later tells Liam that this island is also known as the Land of Untold Stories, which is where young Liam and Nemo has been staying all these years until Hyde had brought over so many of the people from this land to Storybrooke. And now... For the most part, I really love this episode, especially for Killian's over story arc. Both in the present day storyline and in the backstory as well. I love that we finally get to learn what comes of Killian's younger brother, Liam, ever since we learn about him back in season five's episode... Swan Song. And I really enjoy getting to know Captain Nemo too. I like the actor who plays him...Faran Tahir, from other movies. He's a great character. I think I expected younger Liam to hold onto his grudge and hatred against Killian, especially given that Killian had murdered his father and left him to fend for himself ever since he was just a young boy. And you absolutely see Liam's hatred for Killian in both storylines. I am just surprised that he appears to have forgiven Killian by the end of this episode. And a part of me kind of wishes that Liam had held onto his anger against Killian, solely for the purpose of a possibility for a continuing storyline where Killian would have a more difficult time trying to prove to Liam that he's changed into a better man. However, Killian does stop Liam from making the same mistake that he had done when he had killed their father shown in Swan Song, and Killian doesn't kill Liam in spite of Liam threatening to kill him. And Liam of course recognizes this and is grateful to Killian for sparing his life and for showing him that they can both change for the better. So... I really appreciate that they make up in the end and that we do see the possibility that they can become brothers. I really love this overall storyline between these brothers, and love getting to know younger Liam and Captain Nemo too. I also enjoy Nemo's story, as he seeks out Hook so he can try to help Hook make peace with himself and to let go of his hatred against the Dark One. Even if he goes about doing so by kidnaping him first. My only real dislike of this overall storyline, is that Henry really annoys me throughout most of this episode until the ending. I mean... I get it... Henry is a growing teenager, and is therefore moody. I just absolutely hate how he treats Killian throughout most of this episode. It feels so out of the blue, and so strange. Thankfully, Henry eventually comes to see that Killian is only trying to protect him, and be the father figure he wants to be for him. I suppose a part of of Henry's cold attitude towards Killian is that he feels like Killian is trying to replace his father. But Killian isn't. He just wants desperately to be a part of a family with Emma, Henry, Snow, and Charming. Part of a family again, ever since his father destroyed his so long ago when he sold his two oldest sons into slavery. Killian isn't trying to replace Neal by any means. As for Killian hiding the shears inside the toolbox and in the shed, then him and Henry later casting them into the ocean locked up inside the chest... I absolutely think that it is silly that Killian would hide the shears in a toolbox inside the shed. I thought so immediately just like you did too. I would think that Killian would have hid them someplace far more secure, like inside his safe he keeps aboard the Jolly Roger, that can only be opened by the key that is a part of his hook. He also could have gotten Regina to cast a protection spell of sorts over it too. Anything else. I blame the writers for having Killian put the shears where he does. And yes... while I understand why Killian and Henry later cast the shears inside the chest into the ocean, I expected that the Evil Queen could have a way of retrieving them. And of course she would know that Killian kept them to begin with, and where he would have hid them away. Because Regina throughout season one kept claiming she had eyes everywhere, with help from her magic mirror. Of course the Evil Queen would use her mirrors to spy on everyone too. And in the end... Killian makes up with young Liam and reunites his brother with Nemo, who thankfully survives having been nearly killed by Liam years earlier. then, he confesses everything to Emma and explains to her that he kept the shears solely because he was afraid to lose the one thing that could save her. I know Killian tells Henry he doesn't know if he would have forced the way of saving Emma on her out of desperation or not. He is clearly terrified of losing Emma and is thinking with his emotions. However, I really do believe that Killian wouldn't ever force anything on Emma, even if it is to save her life. Because Killian does know how it feels to have something he hates forced upon him after Emma forced him to become the Dark One in order to save his life. I don't believe he would turn around and do the same thing to Emma against her wishes. I just really love Killian's story throughout this episode. So good, and I absolutely love how Killian protects Henry by sacrificing the only chance he has to escape so that Henry can get back home to Emma. And finally... Henry changes his attitude towards Killian, and stops being so rude to him. And I love that Henry assures Killian that he is a part of their family. Next... I also really enjoy the side story between Emma and Aladdin as well. It's sweet that Emma is able to help Aladdin, so that he can return to Jasmine again and help her to save Agrabah. And then... like you, I really love how Regina and the Evil Queen are very much two different people in the way that Lana Parrilla plays both characters. You're absolutely right, and it's fantastic to see each of their characteristics brought out due to who they are. However, I am not at all a fan of the two scenes between the Evil Queen and Gold. I hate seeing Regina flirt with Gold. Far more than I hated seeing him flirt with Cora. It's just as creepy seeing them kiss and make out, as it is upon seeing Gold with Zelena too, as was seen throughout the Wicked Witch arc in season three. Yuck!! Overall... I love this episode! Killian's and young Liam's story arc is fantastic! I am happy you really enjoyed this episode a lot too! So, thank you very much, Jessie!! Until Friday... Thank you, dear friend! Sincerely, Heidi

Captain Nemo is from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Captain Ahab is from Moby Dick.

The Nemo storyline always felt really random. But atleast we got some nice moments between Henry and Killian and Henry finally was involved in something. I think the Queen didn´t take the scissors immediately from Henry because she didn´t want to use force on him, and it´s better to take the scissors later without anyone knowing that she got them.

I really enjoyed this episode and seeing Henry have a storyline with Hook. Jared even said in interviews that this was one of his favorite episodes to film because it was the first time in a little while that he's had a story that's not just "Hi, Mom" People complain about Henry's attitude being "out of nowhere" and joke about it being just because of Hook throwing the PopTart away but there's more to it for me. For one, since 3B, Henry's basically seen Hook as an adult friend who just happens to be with his mom. Moving into the house is a completely different relationship and him throwing away his food is Hook making a parental decision. I mean, just think about it. If a friend came over and said "I don't like what you're eating. I'm going to throw it out with no conversation whatsoever". I doubt anyone would be just fine with that. The other thing is the show has shown that being lied to is a very big trigger for Henry, considering he was lied to about reality the first decade of his life by his adoptive mother. Then finding out Emma lied about his father, and now this with the shears.

I still can't believe how clever you are! You are quick to pick up on things that it took many of us (well, me anyway) several times of watching or at least a little while- you immediately grasp the sheers being put so carelessly in the toolbox in the shed, of course its not a great hiding space, but it never even crossed my mind at the time. lol. Keep up the great reactions, we are getting there! I can't wait to see the rest! Cheers, Jennifer

I hate seeing Gold and the Evil Queen kiss too!! lol It's one thing to have them flirt, but ugh I don't want to see it LOL I feel like Liam maybe still not be totally trust worthy, but we shall see!

That's true, I forget that even though she is the Evil Queen she does still love Henry. I'm just so use to seeing her look like Regina when she is with Henry lol

I agree and it's interesting you bring this up because I just edited for Youtube the episode where Henry meets Neal. I think Henry is far too advanced for his age and they don't treat him like they should!

Ha! Ha! Ha! We're absolutely on the same page regarding Gold's and the Evil Queen's twisted love affair. Yuck!! :) Yes... we shall see what comes of younger Liam. Heidi

You don't like Water, and you don't like fish, you're basically Della Duck lol It's 20,000 leagues under the sea. Fun fact, this is what the Submarine Ride at Disneyland used to be based on before they changed it to Finding Nemo. I agree, but we have heard Regina use that voice before as well, mostly when she is threatening people. With the EQ she talks slower, more mischievous, and menacing. I like Hook and Henry bonding
