Watch subtitles with The VVitch a the characters speak in a dialogue that's hard to understand without subtitles 2. Go into Doctor Sleep knowing absolutely nothing about it. That means no looking at thumbnails, screensavers or description on wikipedia or whatever streaming service you're watching it on as a lot of the thumbnails pretty much ruin the whole movie and even the first sentence of the wikipedia page is a spoiler. All you need to know is that it's a Stephen King adaption and that you need to watch the director's cut. You do not wanna go in knowing it's "______ "

Oh yes, the Burbs all the way. That is an epic movie for the ages. Suburban paranoia couldn't be funnier. Also, classic Tom Hanks. It's a must watch. Why are the neighbors night owls? Why do the dig big holes in the back yard at night? What do they bury in those holes? What is that horrible noise coming from their basement? Show he listen to his wife and stop spying on his neighbors? Will the other neighbjmors let him? You'll just have to watch to find out.

For Halloween: Practical Magic (1998 Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman) -- not scary, girly movie about witch sisters, very fun The Watcher in the Woods (1980) -- zero blood, zero violence, very creepy mystery PG horror movie The Blair Witch Project (1999) -- one of the scariest horror movies of all time... but also no violence, no gore. The Village (2004) -- M. Night Shyamalan movie, very creepy and the "twist" ending is kind of unnecessary The Haunting of Hill House (2018) -- 10-episode miniseries, very creepy but also an AMAZING and beautiful family drama

The remaining movies from the HALLOWEEN FRANCHISE & Scream franchise in order. Be different from the other reaction channels and DON'T skip installments because someone says to not watch it. Most fans love all the installments but get screwed because most creators aren't willing to make reactions.

I hope I’m not too late to request a couple movies. THE OTHERS (2001): Appropriate for Halloween (or any time of year, really). Just a wonderful, intelligent period piece that feels part costume drama, part mystery, with a touch of horror. Nicole Kidman is a mother forced to look after her two children alone in a huge mansion after her husband has gone off to fight in WWII. Even if one guesses where the plot is headed, it’s so handsome to look at. (For some reason THE OTHERS is currently difficult to find on streaming. I got my copy through VUDU.) THE SECRET OF NIMH (1982): The first animated movie by Don Bluth after he “defected” from Disney, somewhat groundbreaking for its time in that it was a major hand-drawn movie NOT released by Disney, and a lot darker than what you'd expect from a "kids movie." The score by Jerry Goldsmith is amazing. (I also find it interesting how the plot somewhat explains the anthropomorphizing of animals that we take for granted in cartoons.) When compared to modern Pixar movies, the script of NIMH might not seem air-tight. But for an animated feature in the early 80s, it was pretty challenging. GATTACA (1997): I’ve requested this before. A minimalist sci-fi movie about a “near future” where genetic perfection is the norm. Noir-ish, speculative and philosophical. Starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Jude Law. In a very general sense it reminds me of “Arrival,” in its haunting, melancholy music and more thoughtful tone.

Omg, I forgot I was gonna add Sleepy Hollow to my list. Haha

Chani Elkin

1) "Arsenic and Old Lace" (1944, Cary Grant) - I don't want to spoil too much, but it's the PERFECT Halloween movie. Cary Grant plays Mortimer Brewster, a play critic who has just gotten married. But in beautiful screwball comedy fashion - he has to deal with dead bodies in his house, an uncle who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt, his 2 sweet aunts who are hiding secrets, a cop who wants to be a playwright, and his disgruntled bride. Oh, and don't forget his criminal brother who shows up with his partner (boyfriend - I ship it) a German surgeon. 2nd) "Inherit the Wind" (1960) - has Spencer Tracy, Frederick March, and Gene Kelly in it. It's based off the play which itself took inspiration from the famous trial on Darwin's Theory of Evolution and legality of teaching it in schools. It's a fantastic film that always is relevant, regardless of the decades or shifted/shifting societal views. And deftly navigates the different views & issues - danger of putting too much value on something or/and putting people on pedastels. As well as the problematic aspects of cynicism and willingness to portray someone as being only their worst/negative aspects. 3 & 4) "Captain Blood" (1935) and "Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) -- both star Errol Flynn, Basil Rathbone, and Olivia DeHavilland. I can't describe them, b/c I feel like I'd end up 'spoiling' (spoilers!) it, instead of letting you have those honest 1st-time reactions. These last two are slightly different, and though separate films, I group them as 1 request as my grandpa had them on VHS as only "kid-friendly" films. So we'd always watch them together. Thus: 5a) "The Jetsons Movie" (1995-6) is pure fun and has that very sincere 90's outlook on enviromental issues. 5b) This one is called "Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue" (1990) - this is actually a animated 'short' about 30 minutes long for the Anti-Drug Abuse (very much aimed at kids and teens) Group. It was made to try and help keep kids from using drugs (Although the effects can be over-the-top. Which just makes it more fun). Teach them how to say "NO" to drugs, helped by famous cartoon characters. Also has a theme song with lyrics by the famous Howard Ashman & Alan Menken made the music. I'm actually including the link to this one (cartoon anti-drug) as Youtube has a few 'versions' but they're horrible quality or sound glitches. So this link is to the best version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwDTB7yVN9I
