Fury is a great movie, in my opinion. It's a more personal, less large scale version of Saving Private Ryan. It has a great cast, as well. I hope it wins the poll!

You should watch the “Scorpion King” before watching “The Mummy Returns” Just a suggestion

Total Recall would be pretty fun

So excited to see your reactions to Goodfellas! Martin Scorsese's masterpiece of a film!

A classic! Gentlemen Prefer Blondes My favorite Marilyn Monroe movie! Let’s introduce a classic lol

jf_lametta

I cannot wait for Goodfellas. One of my all time faves and something very different than what they are used to.

David Martin

Voting Rocky so we can get to Creed lol

David Martin

Hook Swat (Colin Farrell) Four Brothers Shooter Mighty Ducks Goofy Movie

Darius.

"National Treasure" would be great! There's something about the Tone that's so engaging and ingenious, a rare combination. Hope it succeeds, but, it looks like "Mrs. Doubtfire" is going to win. To be fair, if we need a Comedy, something like "Stranger than Fiction" (2006) or "Punch-Drunk Love" (2002) would've been better.

Don Britt

I recommend Hook! It's a CLASSIC feel-good movie.

Sharrod Wolf

Y’all should watch Kong: Skull Island before y’all watch KOM

rhaegar

I'd like to throw out Knives Out, Parasite, The Old Guard, Mad Max: Fury Road and Bridesmaids.

Parasite would be such an amazing reaction! I know it won't be at the top of the polls since it's non-English, but it's still so incredible!

CiviliNation

Since Mad Max is not on the poll, i guess il vote for Total Recall....its just as good as the Terminator

Adam Vialpando

I hope Scott Pilgrim gets back on the poll soon. It is such a great and underrated movie.

Schindler's List definitely needs to be watched eventually.

zammmerjammer

The Secret of NIMH! ...though it's only at 2%, it is one of the most beautiful films ever. Other 80s Don Bluth movies would be great choices for the gals to watch -- An American Tail and Land Before Time make me cry happy/sad tears with every rewatch! I'd also recommend Sister Act and Ghost -- two great Whoopi Goldberg movies.

Shehab Dawoud

Come on guys. We gotta get a Godfather W here. One of the most iconic movies ever and arguably the greatest movie ever along with part 2

stormakima

Hi Brandon! We already saw Wonder Woman and it's available on our Drive :) That was in high demand as well so a few months back we watched it :)

stormakima

Hi Adam! You have been asking for a while too! Thanks for your patience! We are keeping an eye on many movies as random picks (I let Mom and Kim choose usually when we have free time). Do you think Mom would like it too? I know it's very stylized or something?

stormakima

Hi CiviliNation! Mad Max is on our list for our next POLL! Would love to see Total Recall and Mad Max at some point soon! :) Thanks!

stormakima

OMG, my nephews keep requesting this too! They loved that movie! Mom may not watch it though because she has a tough time reading subtitles.. can you make the subtitles really big? If not, then Kim and I will watch it when it WINS or when we have free time :) Thanks!

Mario

Much like the movies, Rocky is starting to mount a comeback in this poll.

stormakima

You are amazing and patient! Thank you! I have been wanting to watch this with Mom and Kim! We have a secondary list of movies that almost make it that we have been selecting from when we have free time! Fingers crossed! There are just so many, LOL!! :D

Really hope you guys watch hook at some point

So happy Rocky is on the list!!! National Treasure is another I think you all would really love. But when are we starting the Mission Impossible series? Between that and Rocky that's 14 movies. Lol

The Godfather is really the godfather of all movies (sorry for the shameless pun 😂). It is THE quintessential movie, if there ever was one.

To echo Zammerjammer, I'm glad to see The Secret of NIMH here. I think having a little context helps one to appreciate it even more than just watching it cold (just in case the Akima Crew decides to do a surprise reaction): It was the first movie by Don Bluth after he defected from Disney as one of their animators. Around this time, animated movies were floundering a bit as a medium. The ones being served by Disney were real hit-and-miss, and they tended to be aimed at just kids, rather than the polished, "fun for everyone" blockbusters we get today in the form of Pixar, etc. So when NIMH hit the audience with some real darkness and spine-tingling moments that were a bit more adult than what you'd expect from a cartoon at that time, it really grabbed your attention. I think you do have to give NIMH's script a little leeway. Some elements aren't fully developed; (the ending in particular feels a bit "deus ex machina.") But those are nitpicks. The hand drawn animation is gorgeous. The lead character is very sympathetic. And the wonderful score by Jerry Goldsmith is one of his best.

Daryl

No, I think The Mummy Returns before the Scorpion King actually. If you know what I’m talking about, you’d be very confused watching the mummy returns after.

YodatheHobbit

I love it when I vote without knowing what's winning and to my pleasant surprise it's in the lead.

WastedPo

I'm somewhat shocked the original Rocky is placing so highly. Don't get me wrong, it's a great movie. But I wouldn't have suspected from past comments it would be so popular in these parts.

Klaus

Since your mom wanted to watch Django for the underlying topic iirc, may I push for Hidden Figures again? ^^ In a way it's not so far off actually. Don't want to spoil too much, but think of 1950, women in tech + civil rights + space flight and based on true events. Also again my silly comedies Scary Movies, Naked Gun. And since I read Rocky in the comment above me something totally different with not much chance of winning, but it would be totally awesome: The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Anonymous

Well... I'm not that shocked by it. Dawn's library of reactions (outside of animated features) is like 90% Spectacle and typical "Guy movies" (and just to clarify I'm not trying to be critical, but it is what it is.) I personally really love Rocky (mainly the first 2 movies) and I'm not really into either of those things. It has a lot more to offer than that, so I can see what you mean. Still, Rocky is like a mythological figure to lots of guys 😛 going by certain family members and friends and the fights are a bit of spectacle, so it's not really all that surprising that it'd be a hit with this reaction requesting community. I haven't looked forward to a movie reaction in a while, honestly speaking - which of course isn't Dawn's fault - so I hope Rocky wins this one. 😊

My Girl 1991 Benny & Joon 1993 A League Of Their Own 1992 Freaky Friday 2003 - Being a mother/daughter story, I'd especially love to see you guys react to it! Bolt 2008

WastedPo

Someone on the Youtube upload of Private Ryan recommended A League of Their Own as an appropriate follow-up to Private Ryan, since in its own way, it's also about WWII. (Not to mention the Tom Hanks connection.) I hadn't thought of the light-hearted "League" in that way before, but he was kind of right. It sure would make for an interesting "WWII era" double feature.

Anonymous

Had to vote for The man from uncle, even though it has no chance of winning currently :D

Justin S.

Another great poll and glad to see Total Recall on the list as I think it is Arnold's 3rd best movie. I voted for Mrs. Doubtfire again though because I think the Storm Crew is ready for a comedy/drama to change things up. Here are my ten weekly movie requests: The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) Ransom (1996) Breakdown (1997) Cliffhanger (1993) The Sum of All Fears (2002) Meet Joe Black (1998) Virtuosity (1995) Mercury Rising (1998) Dante's Peak (1997) As Good as it Gets (1997)

George Bean

Happy to hear that Goodfellas is gonna be next, my all-time favorite gangster film out there. I believe the Akima Ladies are ready for a film like that now; They are surely going to have one hell of a fun time with this film, and perfect timing on the 30th Anniversary too. Maybe after GF, they could also get around to Casino, as well, a pitch-perfect "spiritual sidequel" to Goodfellas. ;D

Darius.

You know, I understand that people enjoy these 25+ Polls, but, realistically, they're not that productive. Everybody is stretched so thin, it's like their Vote doesn't matter because you have two or three movies with over 10%. Possibly, making the Polls more Genre specific could help mitigate that. Anyway, not sure if you've done it before & I know it's a big power play, but you should really consider having 3-5 diverse choices on your Polls Dawn. Ya'll stay safe.

Anonymous

Really hope Batman '89 gets reacted to sometime in the future.

Daniel R

Same, only because I want to see them watch Batman Returns after lol

Justin S.

I thought having genre specific polls would be a good idea but I remember some other patreon shutting the idea down due to the fact that they can only watch 2 movies a week but this is a way to guarantee that the genres get, at least somewhat, switched up from week to week. For instance, there could be an action and comedy movie one week, and a drama and science fiction the next. Also, it would help get more of the less requested movies on the polls more often if it is genre specific.

Justin S.

Yes, just about all of Don Bluth's films were done well and featured some serious or adult elements that Disney sometimes would shy away from. I think Disney ultimately recognized from the success of Don Bluth that it was important to include some darkness and intense moments in their films when it was appropriate and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) was so dark at times that I'm a bit surprised it still got a G rating. Definitely a Disney film the Storm crew should watch at some point. Going back to Don Bluth, I think Titan A.E. is one of the most underrated animated films and I really enjoyed it when I saw it in theaters. It may not be an all time classic like The Secret of NIMH but I think the story and animation captured the atmosphere quite well.

Anonymous

I feel like DC movies won't perform great on the polls until you've watched Justice League (like Suicide Squad) Aquaman, Shazam!, Birds of Prey may be more popular idk

Armchair Wizard

I hope that one day they watch it. The Godfather is actually my favorite movie of ALL time.

jf_lametta

Is Birds of Prey any good? It's on HBO max right now. Hated Suicide Squad but loved Harley...

Anonymous

I think it's a lot of fun. Definitely if you loved Harley there's lots to like of her in Birds of Prey

Mario

They really screwed up marketing for that movie. When Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie) is the one and only real draw, you should probably just call the film "Harley Quinn". Most people won't know or care about the rest of the Birds of Prey.

Anonymous

Greetings Storm Akima. If it's alright with you, I would like to offer you 3 movies based on true events for you to add to your options of movies to watch. You can either watch them whenever or add them to your vote list. "Unbroken (2014)" - Story of Louie Zamperini "Hacksaw Ridge (2016)" - Story of Desmond Doss and the Battle of Okinawa "Harriet (2019)" - Story of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad

Rafael Benedicto

Dammit. What I don't like about having lots of good choices on the polls is me getting choice paralysis -_-. I'm a WW2 nut so I like Fury a lot. But I also want you guys to watch The Mummy Returns. And Spirited Away is great too. And 300 is one of my all-time guilty pleasures. So I just picked The Mummy Returns. Since you enjoyed the first Mummy I definitely feel like you will enjoy this sequel a lot. It adds some new characters and the story gets even more crazy and fun.

A few suggestions: FEARLESS (1993): A quieter character drama starring Jeff Bridges about a man who survives a disaster and as a result, develops a sort of messiah complex. If you’re worried about it being overly “heavy,” I don't think it is. It’s just nicely engaging and provocative and would be a change of pace. 12 MONKEYS (1995): Sci-fi about time travel. Grungy and off-kilter, starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. There’s an emotional core to this that made me care more about the characters than I have with most other Terry Gilliam-directed movies. It’s also rare that an accordion is so heavily featured in a music score. LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL (1997): The celebrated Italian “tragi-comedy” from Roberto Benigni. I was hesitant to suggest this, as the only streaming options I could find are in the original Italian with subtitles. (An English dubbed version is available on physical disc.) But since someone said under a comment about “Parasite” that subtitles can be enlarged, then maybe all three of you can enjoy this. The cinematography is wonderfully old-fashioned. Everything looks like 50’s era “Singin’ in the Rain.” ... Tonally, Benigni tried to mimic the Charlie Chaplin formula of light comedy and pathos. You DO have to be willing to suspend your disbelief. Try to approach it as an intentionally broad and fantastical treatment of a certain time period.

Anonymous

You ladies you should check out some Clint Eastwood movies Magnum Force or The Unforgiven

Justin S.

I've never seen Life is Beautiful but Fearless and 12 Monkeys are great choices. Movies that really make you think and reflect on life. I had suggested Outbreak (1995) at one point and I should again. Like 12 Monkeys, it is about a deadly virus, just without the time travel and sci fi aspect part. I wouldn't worry about any film being too "heavy". I think the Storm Crew enjoys a variety of movies but they react to many action pictures because they win most of the polls. Speaking of heavy movies, I actually thought about suggesting Requiem For A Dream which is probably the best movie about drug addiction and it is one of those movies you never forget when you saw it the first time. It would certainly be a different kind of reaction because it's not a film that has many happy moments. They would probably need a 'feel good" movie immediately afterwards.

Anonymous

Apollo 13

WastedPo

I hear what you're saying about how the kinds of movies they react to has been kind of limited by what gets voted on. The fact that they built their channel on reacting to very mainstream franchises probably means that most subscribers are primarily interested in big-budget type movies. (This is why I'm glad they've taken to doing secondary "surprise" reactions. More often than not, I find those movies more interesting than the actual poll winners.) Respectfully, having said all that, I'm not quite sure that Requiem would be a good fit for this channel. It's just that certain types of movies (and certain scenes) are just plain awkward to watch with family/moms. (I think you know what I'm referring to.)

Anonymous

V for Vendetta!

Shehab Dawoud

Disappointed guys. If not the Godfather, the least we could've done was get Rocky over the line

Mario

You can never go wrong with a Robin Williams movie.

Justin S.

I definitely agree about the secondary or surprise reactions being most satisfying. I know that is probably the only way any of my suggestions will get chosen so I just hope that continues. I like to pick older "forgotten" movies that will still be entertaining or make for a good reaction. I'll make more recent suggestions later on. Yeah, Requiem would probably have to be a reaction without Mom if it were ever chosen. It is one of those movies that's not made for entertainment but to experience the story and emotions. I would put Schindler's List in that category as well. Also, I think it can just depend on the family and their personality. My parents were big movie fans of just about all genres so we watched just about anything together when I was old enough and usually the awkward scenes are short anyway but some of them are done well. For example, the one love scene in Meet Joe Black I don't think is awkward but is artistic and captures the emotions quite well, better than most scenes of that nature.

Anonymous

You got to watch at some point 'Seabiscuit', 'Rocky', 'Batman', 'Godzilla', and 'The Godfather'. Those are most watch. Tonight I saw 'Fury' and is a rough watch. Very intense and heartbreaking. The same can be said about 'Schindler's List'

WastedPo

Thanks for replying. I forgot to add that I think your suggestion for Outbreak is a good one as well. In the "Requiem vs. Schindler's" debate, I have a slightly different view in that I think Schindler's would be appropriate for all three. I guess the reason I have doubts about Requiem is because I've found it near-universal that anything involving sex acts tends to be an awkward watch with family. Tragedy, violence, action, horror... these things are often okay. But when kids are watching with their parents - sex tends to make everyone uncomfortable.

Justin S.

Thanks, and I agree that all three can probably watch Schindler's List together. I just meant that, like Requiem, it is a movie that is not made to really entertain the audience but just for them to experience the drama/tragedy and appreciate the writing and performances. I would be confused if someone actually said they had a real good time watching Schindler's List. Yes, sexual contact can be uncomfortable at times but I think it just depends on the family and their personalities. All three did watch the 40 Year Old Virgin together and that entire movie is pretty much about sex. The comedy style is a factor as well. A movie such as Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut would likely be a lot more uncomfortable due to the creepy atmosphere.

Stephanie

Hey Storm. Did you watch the Karate Kid movies? If so, you should watch the series Cobra Kai. It's great and it will be available on Netflix starting 28th August.

Aaron Barlow

Pacific Rim is great!
