Love the K Chapters!!

Carter

I love that Flos finally lost. I looooove the minotaurs. But my boy Raelt, why u do him so dirty?

Kyle

First I want to say I love this book. every single POV except K has grown on me. Even K is decent. Having said that Minos and the pirate just was rage inducing. They took a bearable storyline that was finally going to see some payoff and ran it off the tracks. I was looking for award to focusing on the princess and king of duels. I do not know if I’m on my own with this opinion, and it is probably so strong for me due to my experience playing risk. I have a friend that I will never play risk with (because all he does is sit in a corner amassing troops till he can wreck the Board as much as possible before losing. Again I love your book, I love how much you write, I love your writing style, and every POV has its strong points that are worth paying attention to, but this is just AAAAAAAAUUUUHGGRRR!

Logan

Wow... I’m kind of impressed. There’s absolutely no one in the right here, everyone’s just being absolute dicks to a greater or less or extent. Except the princess, she didn’t ask to be kidnapped

Anonymous

How did the princess pick up the buckler? Didn't her hand get cut off?

Kevin M

Dang this was a wild and wonderful chapter. Sometimes I'm not super fond of the K chapters but the last one and this one. Uuugggh! Totally worth messing with my sleep to read it asap.

Joseph

Great chapter. Lets hope this means that this book will end with the King of Destruction dead

Joseph

Any time you can ruin a warmongering assholes day, you should. The High King is a piece of shit, but the Minotaurs and the Pirate were totally in the right to attack the KoD

Parker Groseclose

Actually like this K chapter, was fun seeing the King of Destruction get thwarted. Also got a look at Minos culture and hilariously mad pirates.

matt emmons

I prefer other chapters than K chapters....that being said this was a pretty good chapter full of twists. A good read......now back to Erin and the inn.....we can track the fall of the king through news reports. Lol

Andrew

Thank you!

Durzo

It was a well written chapter but that was honestly frustrating to read. Flos was built up to be a great and terrible king, a ruined king that was rebuilding his army and now he’s almost back to square one. It’s even worse considering everyone is no longer afraid of his skill. If the story was focused on him then maybe it’d be good for his plot but the development is too spread out to make reading about him enjoyable. I was a fan of K chapters but this just felt like one step forwards and five steps back. It didn’t feel like a clever move by the characters it felt too random. It felt weird. BANG minotaurs! BOOM pirates! It’s purposefully making it hard to like reading about Flos. I think I’ll probably leave K chapters for the foreseeable future. Probably until someone mentions something of worth about him to Erin.

Im really happy with how the chapter has gone. It really felt like Flos was due a defeat. He can be frustrating to read about with how big of an asshole he can be and how he seems to come out of everything better than before in a world where legends seem to die off quite often

Arroww

My man Raelt...

ActionKermit

It only feels random because Roshal is concealing their involvement. I'd bet rubies to piglets that the lamia who hired the pirates was that evil [Lord] who kidnapped Kent Scott, using money that he obtained from the Golden Triangle scam.

Anonymous

I almost wonder if this will drive Flos to reconsider the power of armaments from our world, where he was largely defeated by the damage done by artillery and... what was basically a super tank.. boat. Could you imagine if the King of Destruction rode w/ tech adapted from Teres/Troy?

Osiris

MORE KING OF DESTRUCTION

John Koor

Wonderful chapter. Great developments in the king arc, but can we get at least one inn chapter before you take your monthly break? We've not had one since early august!

Anonymous

Sorry to say, this is not one of your best chapters. It was very dry and bloody and I guess necessary but I had to skip over about half of it to get through as it was too much of the samey samey and the pirates made no sense.

taukid

This chapter felt wrong. Like every one stopped being people and was just reading the script to get to where the plot demanded. Somehow the Legendary King of Destruction was outwitted by the master plan of elites and artillery.

taukid

I'm fine with Flos losing or dying but not like this. If he had died when we was stabbed through the heart, that would've be fine. But these guys came out of nowhere, they had no spectacular plan, just elites and artillery. Then he uses a skill that made an army of hundreds of thousands run away at Tiqr and it gets stopped by a fucking boat.

Anonymous

Not really agreeing with the negative takes I'm seeing... we knew the Minotaurs were nearby, so their pouncing on this opportunity made sense. The pirates did come out of nowhere, but it seemed the hints were there that it wasn't as random as it seemed. This is the sort of thing that happens when the entire world is watching in real-time, which is why it managed to catch Flos off guard - if not for wistram constantly broadcasting the details of the situation to everyone with a scrying orb, it would've been a wildly improbable series of coincidences, but given that new development, it was almost inevitable, if not in this particular battle then in *some* battle. As others have said, it also felt overdue for Flos to face a real setback of some kind.

Anonymous

Agree with a lot of points here. Given how KoD was portrayed before obviously not feeling sad about his set back. But the people that did the "set backing" aren't exactly painted a positive light. Maybe Minotaurs but don't feel exactly connected to them either. I want to cheer for somebody and feel good on somebody's behalf, but no candidates available. I still think the writing and the chapter was good, but in the end it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Tom Seaton

Enjoyed it. Although the pirate-vention was a bit too left field for me. Maybe some nice foreshadowing going on though? Flos v. Minos is the closest we've seen to a battle between a 'conventional' inn-world force (ok, elite) and one armed with earth-like weaponry. Since the prospect of conflict with Earth is what inspired Flos out of his slumber ('no more worlds to conquer' :) ) that scenario felt apt.

KingGoomba

I feel I might be of the Minority but I really like Flos, is he the paragon of virtue, No. He has followers, yes he is hypocritical but it is all for his people, he would declare war for his people and I find that really compelling. He cares for all his people no matter who they are, he holds no prejudice as long as you say you are his. He does need to lose once and a while but this chapter was rough when he fighting basically death squads and then a boat out of nowhere. It is frustrating to read something so unfair

Stormlock

The minotaurs and pirates made this feel like a Xanatos gambit. What, they were both waiting around the shores of medain (which happens to be near the capitals of both medain AND Jecrass?) because they predicted that Jecrass' king would sue for peace, but then stall for 3 days to get help, but then REFUSE the help, and then medain would capture the princess because she'd just happen to be out mingling with the public mere hours before the deadline? And then they also knew that Flos would march his whole army after Medain instead of just taking the capital? If they can predict things to that extent this war should have been over before it started.

Alan McBrayer

He has challenged and made demands of the entire world. That he failed to anticipate the entire world responding simply shows a lack of imagination on his part. Honestly I like Flos fine as a king, but as a character he comes off as one dimensional and as a result kinda boring.

Anonymous

Yes, in fact. We actually knew there were minotaur lurking around, it came up before, nobody wanted them to land. That they were lurking near the closest shore to the active current conflict follows logically. The pirates were a bit of a wildcard, but were told they were paid to be there waiting for an opportunity to do something like this.

Anonymous

This is world powers flexing in light of the new reality brought by detailed, real-time news service - its giving them the opportunity to do things like this, and they're pouncing on it. The timing wasn't lucky, they were just loitering around where they knew they were most likely to have an opportunity to jump in. One came, they did,

David Giles

More likely they were preparing to dock at the Kingdom of Adventurers when they got the news and doubletimed it there

Håvard

They where trying to dock there, but the king did not want them to so there was talks going on. Also if therr was peace floss's next target who'd most likley have been the adventurer kingdom if the war continued the adventurer kindom would probably have joined or another costal kingdom in the area. So if you want to fight Floss where they landed is where you want to be staying unless you get acsses through someone else.

Stormlock

They must all be ninjas to have kept 6 massive warships floating around for months (and getting resupplied constantly) without anyone finding out while people loyal to Flos stream through the kingdom. Never mind the idea of those pirates hanging around doing nothing this whole time, and planning to do so for several more months while the war in Jecrass drags on, which was the plan until 12 hours ago.

Anonymous

Though I like Flos he can’t win every time, much as I’d like it if he did. I hope we get some more Gazi perspectives next time, and that Treys arc wins the side story poll soonish.

Anonymous

Why do people hate K so much? K are always some of my favorite chapters other than the ones from Ksmvr perspective.

Anonymous

Same. I love his chapters and I find myself rooting or him all the time

Patrick van Ballegooyen

You have a point regarding resupplies, but quite a few people did know that the minotaurs were in the general area. Still, they probably weren't paying that close attention to were exactly the minotaurs where, as nobody thought that they would be playing a significant role in the war anytime soon. Regarding the pirates, they were paid a large amount of money to wait there for a bit until they could get involved so they would have no problem waiting a while. The war in Jecrass was coming to a close very soon either way, whether he surrendered or not. Hence, pirates hardly had to wait long( remember the other nations only agreed to help at the last minute so as far as everyone else was concerned the war was basically over). Plus everyone thought he would invade Meridian next so waiting along their coastline was a logical move.

Wow let down this go around. Felt like I was reading a comic book that was on a deadline. So many perfect timed attacks and coincidences, just felt lacking this go around.

Beth Rasmussen

Wow that ending. :D For a second I thought the final stand had 'moved' her to action with all the tears. :)
