tl;dr: What should I do next?

 1) Continuing the Power Pack comic. I will do the second and final part of the comic, which will be likely another 20 pages. It will introduce another character and an actual threesome.

2) Switch to another comic. I will add a closure to the Power Pack comic and open a discussion post for your ideas regarding a different project.

 3)  Begin  Illustration request pools. I will add a closure to the Power Pack comic and open a request pool for your ideas. I would like to fulfill a minimum 4 requests a month of this type. If you consider this option ideal, mention conditions that would make it personally most appealing to you for the value.

Before going into detail, while I am open to feedback/discussion about these topics in Discord, I will only be considering what is posted here as official response. I want discussion concerning this matter to be transparent to all patrons. If you don't have interest in the full wall of text/details, feel free to respond just to the tl;dr passage above and ignore the rest of this message.

This post has been a long time coming but I wanted to see where I stood at the start of the new year. Things seem to be on schedule so it is time for me to consider what direction I am going to go with this Patreon. I started using monochrome content to be able to quickly rebuild and then be able to maintain updates while I kept myself busy building a site. I should have my finished site (I'm sure people will give suggestions of stuff to implement over time) posted by the end of the day today. The first couple/few weeks will be a trial run so even though it will be up I will still be focusing this Patreon until I'm sure there are no major issues to concern myself with.

This all means that I will likely still be drawing primarily Patreon content for the month of January, doing smaller pieces on the side to do posts  on my site to advertise as well as make sure things are working properly. Since I will still be focusing primarily on this Patreon I would like to receive feedback from my patrons as to what they would prefer I focus on moving into the new year.

The first order of business is the type of content you would prefer I do. Now that I should have more time available to draw I would like to soon get back into coloring more often. Part 1 of the current comic is coming to an end within a few pages. As I've mentioned before, the current comic doesn't seem to be getting a lot of positive response. While I could continue it onward by a whole other chapter of about the same length, totalling the entire project to roughly 40 pages, I don't really feel I should dedicate the time into doing so if my patrons would prefer I dedicate the time elsewhere. Those of you still here stuck around while I've been relatively inactive due to choosing other priorities so I really want to dedicate more time to what you'd like.

That said, the point of discussion is this: Would you rather I continue the current comic, or would it be preferred that I start a new project? This could be a new comic, or maybe like my earlier Patreon days when I did direct requests for patrons. The exception being that I would be more strict about following my set guidelines to keep things fair based on patronage. I would still of course only do sexual content of 18+ characters for Patreon, but someone did bring up the idea that it would be fine to take younger character requests that people may have as long as they are not overly sexualized.

Since I want to get back into coloring I feel that doing single page illustrations will offer me the chance to try new things, which is not really as much an option when doing a comic page. Comic pages have a longer overall process and experimenting during a comic then leads to heavy style inconsistency between pages, which just looks bothersome to me. I really am gaining an increased desire to occasionally try out different coloring methods and feel a period of doing illustrations as requested by patrons would be a great way to do so.

While I wouldn't mind seeing the current comic through to the end, if it is true that interest is low among patrons then I would rather move to something involving a bit more mainstreamed characters that more of you may enjoy.  I would like to offer my patrons more direct imput from this point forward as to what material I draw for Patreon exclusive content, comic or otherwise.  I'll still wrap up at least the current part of the current comic as I don't want to just leave it floating, but I'd like everyone's feedback as to what they would rather I do from now on.

continue the current comic

I like the current comic and would like to see it continue. That said, I will be dropping off the rolls for a little while. I need to get myself back on my feet. Whatever keeps you happy is what is best for you.

idontknowshot

Well, the short response would be to tell you to do what you feel like doing. We aren't here to make you do anything, just support you because we like your work. The long response is, I feel it would be best to take breaks from these long projects periodically to do smaller projects, like short comics, 2-3 pages, or single images. It gives something for people that aren't interested in the content of the current long project something to be interested in. As you mentioned, some people don't seem to really care much for this comic, its just not their thing, and it being 95% of your artistic output for months on end gives them nothing to really appreciate from you. And for you, it would let you "branch out" a bit more. There isn't anything wrong with long projects, and the people into the content are super happy every day because of it, but breaks are better for you and anyone not quite as excited about the projects as others. I wouldn't drop this comic because you don't feel there is enough interest, unless that is what you want to do to. If you WANT to finish a part 2, then do so. Also, requests are a real draw, but I feel they are unnecessary. You are already making enough right now without them. You could do some sort of poll and/or raffle system and do just a handful a month if you wanted to "reward" your patrons, but I would make it a minor thing, like 5 total a month or something. Doing like before when you were doing tons a month is just way over doing it. If you wanted to make a bit more, I feel like a commission type system would just serve the purpose better. Either having the 50/100 dollar or whatever tiers again, or taken directly. I appreciate you asking us, and hope these comments here help you feel comfortable with whatever you decide to do going forward.

I am confused about what are the options.

I want more pictures of Gwen :D

Well I think there should be some updates here on when you update your other site. Also before you do request pool, I think you should do what was left from your previous request before your patreon was taken down. I still remember the ones I did with you, so you don't have to worry about me. but I'm pretty sure there were some other members that were requesting stuff with you before patreon screwed you over.

PRS3245

Also will you be continuing your Ben 10 comic once everything is set up?

incognitymous

Well sadly what I 'feel like doing' isn't Patreon approved, so if I have to delve into other things on the side then I really feel it's totally okay to let my patrons decide like in the old days. I can agree with the breaks on the longer projects. I've been working this current project for a couple months now, and I feel it could be a good idea to delve occasionally into something else for a month, just for some variety. I know some people stick around because they like the art, but I'd feel bad if they had to stick around through several months of content they had absolutely no interest in, especially if that is the majority opinion. Really I just want to gauge interest before I dedicate as much time as I already have into continuing this project. I guess I just want to make this Patreon about my patrons more than anything. I agree with overdoing it. My biggest problem before was that I picked what I liked and rolled with it too hard. I went a bit overboard and would turn two character requests into 2-4 comic pages because I liked the idea. I'd really have to be adamant about how I handle the terms of the requests and try my best to make the higher tiers still more desirable than those beneath them, which admittedly my current $8/$10 system doesn't pull off too well.

incognitymous

Really, anything. What do you think I should draw? Continue the current comic, wrap it up to start a new comic, or try some other kind of method/illustrations?

incognitymous

Well that would be doable only if it was SFW/non-sexualized content due to Patreon's rules. Could do something cute, but nothing explicit.

incognitymous

As I said with Saul, sadly loli/shota is not allowed on Patreon unless it's entirely SFW/non-sexual content.

incognitymous

I actually plan to add email notifications to my site, but I will have to keep it entirely independent from Patreon due to the nature of the content. For this reason I will not be mentioning updates to the site via Patreon. The reason I have not been focusing my earlier content matter is because it's not allowed here, and I haven't had any other means set up for receiving funding for my work. As for the requests, I knocked most of them out with still a couple in my queue for the future when I have bigger things established.

incognitymous

I will, but it will not be affiliated with Patreon. That will be reserved for site content.

I like the current comic and Id like to see it finished, but I feel you could use a break. Some standalone illustrations would be nice every once in a while. Regards!

I say finish up the current comic then probably do a few single images

1.2. (darklegs)

I'm happy to see you wrap up the Power Pack at your own pace, though I'd love to see you make comics with different aged-up characters as well.

incognitymous

Well with me finally nearing the end of my coding situation that should already be quite a break. I wasn't really sure how people were feeling about the current comic so it's nice to receive input. From the looks of it so far it is seeming quite likely I will continue this comic, although I may mix some other things into the mix just for variety.

incognitymous

Well my main point of concern is how long this comic could take with a part two. I have no problem wrapping up this comic, I just wanted to make sure the interest was there among patrons. I'm glad to see it's looking like I was wrong and that people seem to like the comic.

incognitymous

Well since wrapping up the comic seems to be a consensus it is very likely that I will do so. Maybe next I'll open up a discussion for other characters people would like to see in case I do end up mixing in some variety from time to time. I have been considering making at least a single tier request pool to grab from whenever I want to try something different. At least doing it that way I am still doing something for patrons.

Supernerd47

My vote is for a new comic. I joined because of your Katara/Sokka comic but I have no interest in this power pack comic

Anonymous

My vote is that you finish the current Power Pack project leaving it open-ended so that you can return to it in the future for parts 2 and 3. Then I'd love for you to switch to single illustrations and maybe one page vignettes. If you can manage 4 of these a month maybe 2 can be from super supporter requests and the other 2 can be your own ideas. This way you don't wind up in the same situation as before where you feel like you're not working on any of your own material. I'll be honest, there was no greater thrill I've experienced commissioning various artists than when I saw my first Strange Incision requested / Incognitymous drawn image. I mean, you used your considerable talents to draw my ridiculous ideas a total of four times before the format change!!! And those four images are so cool and sexy and fun - I view them constantly! It may sound selfish but I'd really like to get another of my ideas drawn by you. I hope you understand that that sentiment is as much about your talent as it is about my greed. :-)

As a patron, I am really just happy to be able to provide some support to allow you to keep producing the art that we all love. As a reader though, there is little that I dislike more than when a comic suddenly stops midway through. I would definitely encourage you to wrap up the current comic you are working on. Then, if you feel you want to switch to work on something else for a while, that is fine, but please do come back at some point in the future and continue on with the next portion of the Power Pack project.

Yotsuba

I think you should find a way to do more of what you are well known for, because when people think of Incognigtymous they usually think of the father of mainstream Gwen porn and the master of loli. I get that Patron is a pain in the ass in that regard that's just what you are about at the end of the day.

Anonymous

i agree with Yotsuba, there's that gwen/ben comic u started but only made like 3/4 colored panels and that's it... U could always wrap that one up...

incognitymous

That's one option I have been highly considering. I could just finish part one then take a break from it. I feel patrons that have little interest in the current comic are losing out if it's all I focus on. If I was using more popular characters I'd feel a little less bad about this fact, as I know no matter who I choose there will be those without interest, but I am using lesser known characters at this time. Seeing as how more of you are commenting about a lack of interest in this comic, yet there is still a bit of demand for it, I think I will wrap up part one and take a break from it. I definitely won't cut it off for good for those interested, but maybe I'll do a month on/off, or maybe just do a page a month for a while and do other works in between. As for the previous system, I really did pick up too much work. I'd definitely limit it more than before, and would have to be sure I stay within the set restraints unless I absolutely knew I was ahead on other things. Going above and beyond is really what set me behind before, and really does prevent from being able to set monthly objectives. I definitely wouldn't be doing that again, and this would be easier to maintain since I can't choose my most ideal characters to draw. As for the previous requests I performed, I'm really glad you liked them. They were admittedly a bit more difficult than many of the other requests due to complexity, but I never let that deter a request. Always glad to hear I was able to pull them off satisfactorily. I'm actually still hoping to be able to give out the final month from before for the people I promised them to some time in the future while I have my site up. Hopefully this means I can perform your request when the time comes.

incognitymous

Well I also dislike when a comic abruptly stops, which is why I was considering doing an ending separate from what was planned to wrap things up sooner as opposed to just leaving it hanging. If support was low enough I was going to be fine with just wrapping it up with a rushed ending, but support seems high enough that I will likely go the route of leaving it open and slowly finishing it over time, or dedicating time on/off towards the comic/other projects. I'll decide for sure after giving the people the full weekend to comment.

incognitymous

Well that's the whole site of building a website separate from Patreon. Once it is up and running I can split my attention onto that as well, maybe doing a minimum of one finished update or two (meaning fully colored) for both Patreon and my site every week.

incognitymous

I really want to, and that is at the top of my list for my site when it is fully active. The problem is that I cannot use Patreon to fund it, so until I have the new option available I have to put it on hold. I've still got bills to pay after all, and I found before that support is low when content is immediately free anyway.

incognitymous

Huh, I replied to this comment but it seems to have deleted itself from existence so here it goes again. Your point is the major thing I've been considering. I'm sure most people would prefer some more mainstreamed characters, whether in one-shot illustrations, single-page comics or even short comic format. Typically I wouldn't be 100% concerned with everyone's interest in the current characters, as there are always bound to be people not interested, but I did choose relatively obscure/low demand characters for the current project. While interest seems to be high enough for the current project that I don't want to drop it, I feel I should at least do something along with it, either alternating another project or doing illustrations in between pages. Just do something for those maybe not interested so they're not left going months without anything new they may enjoy.

Anonymous

To support a couple of ideas that have been stated before. I'd love to see you continue the current comic as long as you are still interested. Though I'd suggest, when doing a long series like this, stagger your updates with standalone projects; like pinups and suggestions from your new thread.
