I just arrived in Tallahassee today after eight hours of travel from New Orleans. This has been a trip of very long public transportation rides. Thankfully it was not like the trip from Houston to New Orleans which took a bit over 12 hours by train.

I forget exactly when my last journal entry was - perhaps a week or so ago? I've posted quite a few photos in between then and now, so I haven't quite kept track. In any case, I was in Houston for about a week, New Orleans for a couple of days, and I'm now in Tallahassee for the next two days. And then I will be headed home to see my fur babes.

I got quite a lot of work in Houston this time around, ate too many donuts, and was exhausted from the heat. But, it was a decent week anyway. I only had one major annoyance which was a photographer who thinks it is appropriate to not disclose important shoot details prior (those being that he wishes to sell the clothes you're wearing during the shoot afterwards as a sexual thing?). Other than that though, it was a decent week - I will not be shooting with that individual ever again though.

In New Orleans, I ate Cafe du Monde beignets, went to the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum, drank a little bit too much (this constitutes two cocktails with liquor for me personally), got very grossed out walking down Bourbon Street (there is murky stagnant water everywhere which is quite disgusting), talked a lot with Rose who was kind and hosted me, took photos with her (which I'll be posting at some point - she develops her film, so patience is key), went to a very loud punk show, ate pancakes, had a few long walks, and then had a surprisingly uneventful bus ride to Tallahassee despite the various characters I saw along the way. Greyhound is safer than most people think.

I'm currently in Tallahassee and happy to be working with Photosensualis again - our third time shooting over the past couple of years. Hopefully I'll be able to share photos with you here too :)

I'm also ordering prints soon! I've been pretty much keeping up on my travel photo editing for the month as well, so I'll be posting on time this month! I took a lot of photos of random houses and birds and flowers and paint and...many other things in New Orleans. So I need to still sort through them.

I don't know if I've ever felt before like I've been sitting long term in a sauna as often as I have on this trip. It's dripping wet heat - not the sort I'm used to. I'm used to the shade being a savior, but in this heat nothing saves you except central air conditioning. Otherwise, you wallow in sweat. No matter how little you move, it pools on your skin. It makes you smell sour. You see a stagnant pool next to the curb, water that can't quite reach the drain to hide, and you think, "I identify with this pool of stagnant water. If I laid down in it, I'd barely feel a thing different." And that's a gross thing to think of, but it's true. In the New Orleans heat, you are like a murky puddle drifting about saying things. And it's so loud, barely anyone can hear you so you might as well have not said it at all. It was a few days of repeating myself and often giving up on being heard. I felt like stacked molecules sweating on a sidewalk somewhere in the Bywater.

Essentially, I'm a scruffy, bug-bitten, seat dripping version of myself recently and currently (minus the sweat at the moment).

I hope you like the photos! I'll be posting the whole travel photo set soon-ish, and will be doing more self portraits once I'm home :)

Curiosity question: the outfit in the mirror selfie - is that your own clothing or something you were asked to wear for photo shoot ? It looks comfortable and perhaps it shows a *southern* flavor ? I love the feeling I get from the birds on the wires image ! :-)

It’s my own clothing actually! I really like floral dresses and lace things. They are also very comfortable :)
