CW: Internal inflation, belching, modestly sized tum, severe anxiety, monster girls, cuddle buddies.
Oh, and I don't think this is necessary, but just in case: do NOT try this at home.

Winter was Zen’s favorite time of year. She didn’t exactly have many choices, mind. Being a yuki-onna sort of limits the temperatures you can comfortably live in. You can’t expect a snow woman to thrive in the summer, right?

It was snowing in the city, a light powder that would soon turn all of the streets and houses a gorgeous white. It was perfect shorts and tank-top weather for someone like Zen… Or, at least, it would be if not for the fact that she’d get stared at and judged by everyone she passed. Gods, all those piercing, weirded-out eyes boring holes into her… just the thought sent more shivers down her spine than any cold weather ever had.

That’s why, despite how hot and stuffy it made her, Zen was wearing a long, thick skirt and a massive hoodie with her hood up. If she could sweat, she’d be drenched in the stuff right now. She’d be in danger of getting heat stroke if she wasn’t careful. It was alright, though; once she’d gotten her stuff, she could go back home and strip all of this stuffy clothing off.

It wasn’t a long walk from her apartment to her destination, but it still left Zen panting. She tried to steady her breath as best as possible before going in so that no one would hear her breathing. She quickly scuttled into the equipment store and went straight to where she needed to go. It wasn’t her first time here, nor would it be her last. She hated buying stuff in person and normally avoided it like the plague. This, however, was one thing that she’d had a lot of trouble trying to get delivered. For most other things, she’d just give up and say she didn’t need it, but…

“Oh hey, it’s you again! Back for the usual, eh?”

Oh gods, the man at the register recognized her! Zen stifled a squeak and pulled her hood lower over her head. She gave just the smallest of nods, her face burning a bright blue. The man, while ringing up her purchase, laughed. “Sorry, sorry, I forgot that you aren’t a fan of conversation. Do you mind me asking what you use this stuff for, though? We don’t get a lot of regulars in here, so I just can’t help being curious-”

Zen slapped the money for her purchase down on the counter and bolted away without waiting for her change. She could hear the man calling after her, but was that going to stop her? Fat chance! She was so mortified! She could never go here again! There’s only so many places that sell this stuff though, and she’d already burned through three other options once they’d started recognizing her. She might have to start taking her chances with the first store again… but the girl at the counter had been so cute and she’d complimented Zen’s nails… there was no WAY her heart could take it if she went back and the girl was still there and recognized her and was maybe even glad she’d come back! She’d fall dead on the spot! No, she’d melt! She’d melt right then and there!

The frantic woman had to stop halfway home, bent over and gasping for breath. She was so out of shape… such was the shut-in life, she supposed… it didn’t help that she felt like she really was melting in all these clothes… ugh, it was so hot… Still, she was almost home. Once there, she could get all this off, put on some nice music, relax on her couch, and… and…

Zen peeked into her bag and giggled softly. Her already warm face felt just a little hotter. Nope, there was never, EVER any way that she’d tell anyone what she ever did with this stuff.

With her breath caught, it was just a few more minutes of walking until she reached her apartment building. She scoped out the elevator to make sure no one else was using it before quickly popping in. Any day when she didn’t have to make small talk with one of her neighbors was a good day. Especially the social worker on floor five, or the snake woman on floor four - those two both terrified her for completely different reasons…

Once on her floor, Zen scuttled to her door and slipped inside. Finally, she could BREATHE! She yanked off her hoodie and pulled her boots off her feet as fast as she could. She had thin summer socks on underneath, which were allowed to stay on, but her heavy skirt? Dropped and kicked aside. She had on only her panties and her socks and she was free!

“Dude, how many times do I have to tell you to stop stripping in the living room? I’m gonna have company over one of these days.”

Zen brushed off her roommate’s words with a snort. “All your gaming pals swore our apartment off ages ago. Said they couldn’t feel their fingers anymore by the time they left.”

“What if I make new friends? Ones that tolerate the cold?”

“Then text me ahead of time so I never have to meet them.”

Zen gathered up her clothes and trundled them off to her room while her roommate, Jin, griped and grumbled from where she was on the couch. Jin, like Zen, was a cold-climate demihuman, which was pretty much the only reason why they could be roommates at all since Zen needed her home to be at least forty degrees (that’s four and a half degrees for all of you Celsius heathens). Then again, their being roomies was also only possible since they’d been close friends for over thirty years now. Zen wasn’t exactly the type of person who could handle living with some random stranger. She’d probably never leave her room ever out of fear of running into them. With Jin, though…

“Why are you home, anyway? I thought you had plans with… the prissy one.” Zen noted while plopping onto the couch next to Jin. She’d pulled on some comfy shorts but had stayed topless and braless. She didn’t have much going on up there, so she didn’t feel too much of a need to wear anything. She had a bit of a booty thanks to some mixed genes somewhere in her ancestry, but since she was mostly yuki-onna, that’s what her body mostly was; yuki-onna. She was slender and fragile, barely able to gain any muscles or fat. She had delicate, glittery white skin, no body hair to speak of, long permanently blue nails, a kind yet sad face, and sleek white hair that she kept short. She was a glorified five-foot-five porcelain doll with a semi-butch haircut and a soft rump.

Jin sighed and shifted on the couch, casually leaning into Zen. “It’s Priscilla. And eh, I decided that she wasn’t worth the effort. She kept trying to tell me what to do all the time. ‘Turn up your heater’, ‘why are you gaming with those geeks’, ‘get a real job’, ‘use your fingers, not your tails’. Seriously, she was so high-maintenance but didn’t try to meet me halfway at all. So not worth it.”

“Told you,” Zen commented while fanning her still-hot face. It would take her a long while to cool down and Jin’s body heat next to her wasn’t helping. Not that she’d move away from Jin, mind; this was her one and only source of physical intimacy in any capacity. Zen might be almost as socially anxious as one can get, but she was still demihuman, after all.

Also, while she wasn’t right for Zen as a partner, Jin was still totally hot. She was from a tribe of Slothful demons that had colonized Antarctica at some point. That meant she had insane cold tolerance, as well as a slight blue tint to her skin that got darker as it got colder. Right now, it was just a little darker than her average skin tone. She also had a bunch of the characteristics that Sloth demons had: thick, powerful limbs, soft bodies with an unexpected underlying muscle tone, strong jaws, soft and tired expressions, and a thin, dexterous tail split in the middle with two forked ends. Jin didn’t work out though, and so her limbs had lost some of their thickness and her middle was more on the expected side in terms of lack of muscle tone. She was a big, soft woman with a strong, pretty face who made a great cuddle buddy. It was just a shame about the body heat thing, though. Maybe if Zen kept the house just a few degrees colder…

“I’m guessing you went out for your usual? You never leave the house for anything else,” Jin said.

Zen smirked. She reached over the edge of the couch where she’d set her bag earlier. She pulled her hard-won prize out and looked at it happily. “Of course~. I’m so excited! It’s been so long since I last had this!”

“Yeah, it took you two whole weeks to get up the courage to go out this time,” Jin mused. She glanced over at Zen’s purchase and shivered. “I still don’t understand how you can stomach that stuff, though. You might eb the only person in the world who actually drinks this.”

“You think?” Zen giggled as she hugged the container of liquid nitrogen to her chest.

“Considering that stuff’d kill most people who drank it… yeah, I’m pretty sure.”

The icy woman hummed giddy to herself as she fiddled with the nozzle, getting it ready. Her three-liter tank of tasty nitrogen was an expensive taste, but she just couldn’t get enough of it! Everything about it was just so good! “That’s a total shame. Everyone is missing out!”

Jin rolled her eyes. “I’m sure we are. Just take it easy, okay? You kinda scared me the last time you were this excited.”

“It’ll be fine, it’ll be fine~!” Zen giggled. The nozzle was fully set up! She popped it into her mouth and, without a moment’s delay, turned the valve to let her frozen treat flow.

Within seconds, the small tube connected to the container was trembling, followed by Zen’s mouth filling with the sharp, delightful taste of liquid nitrogen. It was so crisp! So COLD! It was like the world’s most mouth-chilling, most brain-freezing slushie! She wanted to savor the taste, but she already knew what would happen if she did, so she instead quickly swallowed it. It chilled her throat all the way down before landing heavily in her tummy, where she could distinctly feel it bubbling.

She greedily gulped down the nitrogen for several seconds before turning off the valve. Jin let out an exasperated sigh as Zen popped the nozzle out of her mouth and smacked her lips. “You were pushing ti there, Zen,” Jin growled.

“I know, but… it’s just so GOO- *URP*” A burp interrupted Zen’s protest. A small wisp of white gas billowed into the apartment from her mouth. She felt another burp trying to force its way up her throat, but she swallowed it back down. It wouldn’t be any fun to let it out right now. This was, after all, the second reason why liquid nitrogen was a must-have treat for her…

Zen’s tummy was making some truly horrific noises as all of the liquid nitrogen continued to get more and more agitated within her. Zen’s body might be cold, but it wasn’t that cold. Her core body temperature averaged about negative ninety degrees (for Celsius heathens, negative sixty-eight degrees). Liquid nitrogen, however, was way, way below that at around negative three-hundred twenty. That meant, for once, it was a liquid that wouldn’t uncomfortably freeze into a lump inside her belly. The opposite would happen, actually. That meant that right now, all that nitrogen in Zen’s belly was coming to a roiling boil despite the incredible cold, and as it boiled, it would evaporate into a gas. It would evaporate into a LOT of gas.

The bubbling inside of Zen’s tummy got angrier with every passing second. The need to burp kept getting stronger, but she forcibly kept everything down. Finally, the fruits of her effort started to show. Her flat, slender belly was puffing up. Her tummy was filling up with frozen gas, stretching out her petite middle! Even if frozen nitrogen wasn’t as tasty as it was, this was the reason why she would never be able to stop drinking it! THIS was the reason why she could never let anyone (other than her closest person ever Jin) find out what she did with her singular non-delivered purchase! It was just too GOOD!

With every extra centimeter that her belly swelled, it became that much harder to stop herself from burping. She clenched her jaw shut and started to rub her little belly bulge. Her tummy felt so cold and tight! She snuggled in closer to Jin, now relishing in her body heat since it was heating her up and making the nitrogen inside her melt just that little bit faster.

Before long, her little bump was growing into a veritable mound. Her upper belly was clearly more distended than her lower as it jutted out harshly from her slim frame. While it didn’t mean much considering she only had A cups, her stomach had long passed the peaks of her chest. She felt like moaning from the pressure, but she felt like opening her mouth at all would let out everything she was filled with. She just swallowed back her lewd outburst instead. She shuddered as a rush of heat raced through her body. This was the one and only type of heat that Zen actually appreciated~.

It was getting so tight! The noises inside of her tummy hadn’t stopped; if anything, they were even louder now with all the extra room to echo around in her gassy tum. She gave her middle several solid thumps and felt her face flush from how solid and hollow it sounded. Her breathing was getting heavier - and not just from all the extra pressure the balloon of gas inside of her was putting on her lungs.

The urge to burp was getting intense. Zen clasped one hand over her mouth, willing her mouth to stay shut. Gods below, her belly was too tight! It was filled to the brim with frozen gas trying to escape! Her throat twitched and trembled as her belly threatened to forcibly eject its contents at any moment. Still, she could get bigger! Fuller! Tighter!

Her body began twitching as her belly started to ache. Her meager abs were spasming as best they could, trying to help force out all of the gas blowing her up to basketball-sized proportions. Zen’s eyes started to flutter as tingles of energy raced up and down her body. Th-This was- too good!

Ah! T-Too full! Too big! Her belly - it was too tight! A-AH! Sh-She couldn’t hold anymore! She was going to burst! Too tight! Too much! She would explode if she didn’t let everything out right now! Oh- OOOH! S-So TIGHT! A-AH! AH! AH~!

A strong hand grabbed Zen’s wrist and forcibly pulled her hand from her mouth. The moment it did, her tummy convulsed heavily. A violent, frigid rumble rocketed up Zen’s throat before her mouth was wrenched open by a thunderous belch. It lasted for what felt like ages, and all the while a thick, white fog billowed out of her mouth and dissipated in the air. Even once the first burp ended, it was followed by several more long, rumbling aftershocks that Zen had no chance of suppressing anymore. Not that she had the mind to do so, mind. She was totally worn out and satisfied.

“By the Fjords, you are such a freak,” Jin sighed while letting go of Zen’s arm.

Zen’s glassy eyes refocused just enough to look up at her closest friend. She gave her a sloppy smile. “Yeah, but you love me anyway.”

Jin just sighed again. She did, however, rest a hand on Zen’s head and gently rub her hair. Zen murmured happily, then let out another angry belch. Her tum had mostly shrunken by now, though it still looked like she’d swallowed a softball whole. It was still slowly growing as well, but with Zen burping every ten to twenty seconds, it would stay about this size until the nitrogen had completely boiled away.

The snow woman’s eyes started to flutter. Both her mind and body had a hard day today. She deserved a nice, long rest. Then, tomorrow, when she was tired from work and wanted to cool herself off… she had just the treat to do it with. Eheheh…

==============================================================================

I'm doing it! I'm producing content at a reasonable pace! I'm being PRODUCTIVE!

Credit to the Softservice discord, btw. Someone posted a video of what would happen to the stomach if someone drank liquid nitrogen (apart from death, obvs) and it got me thinking about if someone who was a bit... colder had a mouthful. Or two. Or three.

I know this fic would be better off in December or January, but hey - it's WInter, right? It still fits! And at this point, I just want to get y'all some more consistent content rather than hoarding fics for the 'right time'.

I'm planning on doing a Thanksgiving fic for my stream, which is coming up real soon! I don't have work for the next week, so I'm still bouncing around what day to do it on. I'll let y'all know ahead of time when I settle.
