Chapter 66

"Darling, come taste the porridge I just made." Mo Yuzheng pushed the door open, holding a small bowl in his hand. The door behind him hadn't closed yet when his movements suddenly halted.

After waiting for a moment, he found the other still in a daze. Ling Chunann glanced at the sloping bowl of porridge and reminded him, "Uncle, the porridge has been poured out."

"Sweetie, darling, can you see?" Mo Yuzheng's tone was somewhat cautious, ignoring his hand, which was red from the scalding hot porridge.

Ling Chunann beamed at the man. "Yes, Uncle, I can see. You look really handsome!"

Initially immersed in the touching moment, 098 couldn't help but chuckle. However, Ling Chunann was right; Mo Yuzheng was indeed handsome, exuding a charm that surpassed any man in these worlds, not in appearance but in aura.

As the man went downstairs to refill the porridge, Ling Chunann remarked, "I knew his aura felt so familiar. 098, didn't you sense a strong antagonist vibe from him?"

"…Now that you mention it," 098 replied. It wasn't a sinister look but rather a presence that commanded respect despite his calm demeanor. Individuals with such charisma were often born leaders.

Moreover, 098 found Mo Yuzheng quite mysterious, as it had little information about him.

"Ling Chunann, has the unknown task emerged?"

"Not yet, host. Unknown tasks usually activate upon encountering specific events. We can start with the known tasks for now."

"Okay, help me contact 'Green Grassland.'"

"Understood."

Suddenly, Ling Chunann noticed a notebook on the bedside table. "Forget it, I'll do it myself."

"Green Grassland" was the pseudonym of the scriptwriter for the radio drama "Spiritual Calamity," also responsible for post-production. She was a lovely girl who played a significant role behind the scenes.

In the CV circle, Bai Zimu went by the name Tianming Weijin. Before his accident, Green Grassland had contacted him. She had invited him to play the protagonist's role in "Spiritual Calamity."

Bai Zimu had taken two days to consider her offer, but those two days had turned into several months. Therefore, Ling Chunann didn't blame her for choosing someone else.

The computer was new. Ling Chunann placed it in front of her and pressed the power button. After a few seconds, the screen lit up. "Huh? It's password protected."

098 quickly spoke up, "Host, this is Mo Yuzheng's office computer. I can't find the password; he unlocks it using fingerprint recognition, which is a level above the current technology in this world."

"Hmm," Ling Chunann nonchalantly replied. Then she proficiently entered a row of numbers and pressed the enter key.

098 stared in disbelief as the screen instantly changed to a photo of her host. "H-Host, when did you learn computer skills?" It seemed her technical prowess surpassed even the system's!

"I actually entered the wrong password," Ling Chunann shrugged, her gaze falling on the photo on the screen. "It's the first time I've seen my own picture. Quite cute."

Despite the host's modesty, 098 was deeply shocked.

In fact, while Ling Chunann's fingerprint had indeed been verified earlier, it was the digits she had entered carelessly that had truly unlocked the computer. Those were the same numbers she had used when first binding with the system.

"Darling, I've arranged for a private doctor to come and examine you this afternoon." Mo Yuzheng pushed open the door once again, holding the porridge. He glanced at the computer, showing no signs of suspicion. "Have your breakfast first, then you can play with the computer later."

"Okay," Ling Chunann nodded.

After being served breakfast by Mo Yuzheng, Ling Chunann looked at the computer that the man had thoughtfully placed on a small table. Skipping over his work folders on the desktop, she found the messaging app and entered Bai Zimu's account details.

Bai Zimu's social circle wasn't extensive, and he had only recently entered the online dating scene along with Bai Zishu. He had only acted in a few dramas, so the few friends who had messaged him during his disappearance could be counted on one hand.

Seeing the sparse message notifications in the bottom left corner, 098 hesitated.

As Ling Chunann opened the chat window, she said, "Feel free to ask if you have any questions."

"Host, Bai Zimu is handsome, and he doesn't seem to have a bad temper. Why does he have so few friends?" According to its experience, good-looking people usually received extra privileges in any world. Despite facing difficulties and being set up by his own brother, he still lacked friends.

Ling Chunann remained silent, simply opening Bai Zishu's profile and clicking on a photo among the many.

The picture showed two young men: one with messy hair, bright eyes, and a radiant smile, his arm affectionately draped over the shoulders of the other young man. Compared to the sunny youth, the other appeared much more gloomy, with long hair covering half his face. He pressed his lips together, looking reluctant, and didn't even glance at the camera.

Even 098, an AI not adept at interpersonal relationships, could tell which of the two youths in the photo most people would prefer. But those who knew Bai Zimu's personality knew that due to his cleanliness, he didn't like physical contact with others, including Bai Zishu. It was unclear if Bai Zishu was unaware of Bai Zimu's habit or deliberately ignored his feelings. Either way, it proved that Bai Zishu wasn't a good brother.

Not only that, he had even posted the photo for everyone to see, revealing that he had a disagreeable brother. This was evidence of his deep cunning.

As 098 looked at the photo of the youth enduring discomfort to cooperate, it thought that maybe he still believed his brother was a good person until his death. It was infuriating. "Host, we must teach the protagonist, Bai Zimu, a lesson and let him vent his anger on his brother!"

Ling Chunann saved all the intimate photos of Bai Zishu's space, then cleared the browsing history and closed the space. She then opened the chat window for Green Grassland.

Green Grassland's signature was "I hear raindrops falling on the green grass." Ling Chunann raised an eyebrow.

"Host, this is the first line of a song in this world. Many young people like this phrase," 098 explained to Ling Chunann. "It's quite meaningful."

"Hmm, interesting," Ling Chunann nodded. "I have an idea."

The last message record from Green Grassland was a month ago.

Green Grassland: Unfinished, I'm really sorry. Since you've been absent for too long, the crew urgently needed to find a lead role. We've found someone suitable now, so we've decided to change the casting. Please contact me when you come back; there might still be a role suitable for you. I'm truly sorry this time. [Pity]

Ling Chunann recalled Green Grassland's character in

the story and placed her hands on the keyboard.

Tianming Weijin: Are you there?

Tianming Weijin: Sorry, I had some trouble in the past few months. I just got out of the hospital a couple of days ago.

Green Grassland replied promptly.

Green Grassland: Oh my, Weijin, are you okay? Any health issues?

Green Grassland: I'm sorry, I didn't know you had an accident. I've been pressing you for so long, I'm really sorry. How are you feeling now?

Tianming Weijin: It's all right now. Being discharged means I've recovered. Thanks for your concern. [Smile]

Green Grassland: That's good, that's good.

"Host, I feel this girl is quite nice." A stranger seems to care more about him than his own brother.

Ling Chunann nodded. "I happen to think the same."

Tianming Weijin: Are all the roles in 'Spiritual Calamity' filled?

Green Grassland: Weijin, are you coming back so soon? That's great!

Green Grassland: The crew is almost complete now, but we still lack three important characters: Xing Wushang, Chu Tianguan, and Yun Lingyu.

Green Grassland: If you're interested, personally, I think Chu Tianguan suits you better.

Xing Wushang is the male lead in 'Spiritual Calamity,' with a character design that's both righteous and villainous, with a domineering and charming vibe. The reason why Green Grassland doesn't recommend him is mainly because Bai Zimu's voice is too gentle and mellow. Chu Tianguan is the male supporting lead, essentially the third male lead. Given Bai Zimu's previous roles, although it might be a bit of a stretch, it should still fit the character. Recommending Tianming Weijin, a character who hasn't appeared for a long time and whose popularity has waned considerably, is already quite considerate of him.

Tianming Weijin: I want to audition for the role of Xing Wushang.

Green Grassland: Un, Weijin? [Sweat]

Green Grassland: I really don't mean to doubt you, but your voice doesn't quite fit this role.

Green Grassland: How about you reconsider Chu Tianguan?

Tianming Weijin: Why don't you give me a piece of the script? I'll record a demo for you, and you can discuss it with the crew.

"Host, are you really going to audition for this drama?" 098 asked. "But your voice..." It hadn't forgotten Ling Chunann's voice in this body, which, when devoid of emotion, could be described as clear and gentle. With a hint of laughter, it was soft and cute, sounding like coaxing, challenging a strong offensive would be quite difficult.

"What? Don't you believe in me?" Ling Chunann didn't reply to 098 in her mind this time but directly spoke out. Her voice was deep and magnetic, with a hint of inexplicable allure. It could be said to be quite fitting for Xing Wushang's character.

Suddenly, 098 remembered when its host had cross-dressed, using a sweet, coquettish voice. "I'm sorry, host." Were all actors so versatile?

Green Grassland quickly sent Ling Chunann a short excerpt from the script. Since it was a monologue for the male lead, there was naturally no pressure for Ling Chunann.

After about ten minutes, Ling Chunann finished recording the demo and sent it over. Then, she quickly closed the chat window and logged out of her account.

"Host, aren't you waiting for a reply?" 098 asked.

"It's okay to check tomorrow." Ling Chunann replied as she entered another account and password. This was the Penguin account that she had asked 098 to contact the male lead for these past few months.

This account was even quieter than the previous one, with only a few friends, one of which was Bai Zishu's main account, and the other was his alt.

Ling Chunann first opened Bai Zishu's chat box.

Spring and Autumn: The surprise is all set. I hope you'll like it when the time comes.

Then, Ling Chunann closed the window and logged into the other account.

This account was even simpler, with only one friend, the male lead. This was Bai Zimu's alt account, specially created to observe his crush's updates.

"098, it seems you really hate the male lead. How do you want to deal with him?" Ling Chunann suddenly asked.

Without much thought, 098 blurted out, "For someone like him, he should be condemned to eternal infamy, have his most important things taken away, and be left with nothing!"

"Are you suggesting I steal men from him?"

Before 098 could reply, it suddenly felt a chill from head to toe.

Turning her head, she found the man who had just gone downstairs standing at the door, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
