Chapter 125: Hunting the World

"If a sixth-tier ability user emerges in Huaxia, then Nie Jia must not die," He Qingtang said expressionlessly.

A tumult churned within her as she glanced at Shi Chen, who was still peacefully dozing, unaware of this startling revelation.

"I share the same sentiment. Lieutenant Song seems to be gradually gaining the ability to manipulate others' thoughts. If he reaches the fifth tier, he could undoubtedly have complete control over Nie Jia. It would be a great loss to lose such formidable power. If Nie Jia could be utilized by Huaxia, reclaiming the Oasis would be just a matter of time."

Most shared He Qingtang's thoughts, though a few agreed with Shen Su.

"The advancement of ability users is unpredictable. It's only been two years since Lieutenant Song reached the fourth tier. Who knows how long it will take for him to reach the fifth? During this time, if Nie Jia breaks free from his control, the consequences would be unimaginable!"

"Would you be willing to kill a sixth-tier ability user?" Someone reminded them, "We've already lost Kong Fei."

Kong Fei.

Shen Su would likely never forget how he died. He had made a gruesome sacrifice, yet the higher-ups in various districts were more concerned with how to protect his killer.

Shen Su couldn't help but recall Nie Jia's words from before, "You fight for the government, but who will fight for you?"

"Huang Geng, the leader of the Oasis, is dead. Now Ning Lang holds power in the Oasis. Ning Lang is just as mad as Nie Jia. If he gains sole control over the Oasis, it will be even less likely to return. It's highly probable that Huang Geng was killed by Ning Lang. If he were to ally with the United States in secret, the consequences would be even worse. We really need Nie Jia now." He Qingtang looked somewhat displeased as she glanced at Shen Su. "Lieutenant Shen, during the battle in Asakawa with Nie Jia, it seems you've concealed many details."

Nie Jia might be a sixth-tier ability user. Shen Su, of the same tier and attribute, should have been able to perceive even the slightest changes during their confrontation. Yet, Shen Su waited a full eight days before revealing this at the assembly. It was hard to say if he harbored thoughts of seeking revenge.

"Perhaps you should see this before making a decision about Nie Jia's life." Shen Su instructed his subordinate to connect the surveillance footage from the reformation camp to the screen. The scene showed a vast expanse of blood-stained ice blades, with three ability users besieging Nie Jia. Both sides were bloodied, locked in relentless combat with no clear advantage.

Yet Nie Jia was alone, with a signal source implanted near his central nervous system limiting his abilities. He was now just an ordinary person, yet three fourth-tier ability users couldn't completely overpower him!

"Nie Jia is far more dangerous than you imagine," Shen Su said indifferently.

The playground was utterly destroyed, pocked with holes from the ice blades. The ice ability user seemed exhausted, panting heavily with hands on his knees, his body covered in small wounds inflicted by Nie Jia's ice blades.

Nie Jia stood on the ice, blood flowing from his body, yet he seemed surprisingly composed, even amidst the pain akin to being burned alive felt throughout his body as he stepped on the ice. He didn't show any signs of agony, swiftly identifying the enemy's abilities.

One for offense, one for control. The control-type ability user could manipulate the enemy's senses. Just a glance made Nie Jia feel as if he were immersed in molten lava, writhing in unbearable pain.

As for the third person, Nie Jia shifted his gaze. The person stood quietly under the corridor in the distance, silently observing the confrontation. He hadn't intervened, leaving Nie Jia unsure of his abilities.

"You're much stronger than I imagined, enduring the pain of burning and still reacting so quickly," the ice ability user wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, glaring at Nie Jia with resentment.

Nie Jia stepped back abruptly, a sharp ice blade shooting out from where he had just stood.

Missing a strike was within expectations. The ice ability user turned back to the third person under the corridor and shouted, "Did you see through it? What do you think?"

The person walked slowly, his tone flat with a hint of disdain, as he looked at Nie Jia. "He's just like that. He's no match for us."

The ice ability user felt reassured, then smirked, "Nie Jia, you're quick on your feet. But if you stand still, how many times do you think I can stab you in a minute?"

Nie Jia frowned. From his words, it seemed that the third person was about to make a move.

"You're also a control-type ability user. You control... time, perhaps?" Nie Jia keenly perceived the hint in the man's words.

As soon as he spoke, all three people on the opposite side raised their eyebrows slightly in surprise, unsure if this man was clever or terrifying.

"You should know that you won't live past today." The time manipulator gritted his teeth, and in an instant, chaos erupted.

In the blink of an eye, Nie Jia snapped back to reality, only to find a piercing ice spike impaling his heart.

The people in the conference room watched this scene in shock. He Qingtang slammed her hand on the table, rising abruptly with a mix of astonishment and anger. She turned to glare at Shen Su. "Lieutenant Shen, who gave you the authority to act on your own?! If Nie Jia dies, you..."

Shi Chen was finally fully awakened by the commotion. His military cap flew off as his eyes overflowed with sharpness. With a casual glance at the screen, which showed a reaction bigger than He Qingtang's, he abruptly fell from his chair.

"Chief!" He Qingtang moved to assist him.

Shi Chen stood up, gripping the table, shedding all traces of laziness and fatigue. He stared fixedly at the screen showing the heavily wounded Nie Jia. Though he didn't utter a word, his entire demeanor seemed enraged, exuding a terrifying pressure that made everyone's heart tremble, prompting them to breathe cautiously.

"Colonel, prepare the helicopter immediately and head to the reformation camp." Shi Chen's breath was heavy as he turned to leave, his expression darkening frighteningly. He glanced at Shen Su, his gaze sharp as a demon's.

"Yes, sir." He Qingtang followed him out of the conference room.

Shen Su hadn't expected Shi Chen's reaction to be so intense. When he snapped out of his reverie, his forehead was already drenched in cold sweat.

"Lieutenant Shen, who gave you the authority to withhold information and send people to kill Nie Jia on your own accord?!" A colonel roared angrily at Shen Su.

"Nie Jia isn't so easily killed." Shen Su interlocked his hands, blocking his view, his gaze fixed on Nie Jia, who seemed on the brink of death. He couldn't help but recall the armor-piercing bullet that struck Nie Jia at Asakawa Airport. The kinetic energy of an ice spike was far inferior to a bullet. If Nie Jia survived being hit by a large-caliber armor-piercing bullet, a mere ice spike...

But Nie Jia's abilities were now restricted. Once he activated his abilities, the control room might deem it too dangerous and trigger the signal source to explode.

Maybe he would truly die.

Shen Su clenched his fists silently. He did have personal grievances. He hoped Nie Jia would die in the reformation camp!

The sensation of rapidly draining life force was not unfamiliar to Nie Jia. He had experienced this helpless pain countless times before Shi Chen arrived.

Nie Jia swallowed a mouthful of blood, staggering back a couple of steps before finally dropping to one knee.

"Enjoy this pain. It's the punishment you deserve." The three people stopped using their abilities, taking two steps forward in unison, watching with satisfaction as the leader of the Shark faction, who had incited a racial war, died before them. It was truly satisfying!

Nie Jia breathed heavily, each breath bringing forth blood. He grasped the ice spike piercing through his body and forcefully pulled it out. The sharp, agonizing pain of imminent death almost made him lose his sanity.

"You're not prisoners here. Did Shen Su send you to kill me?" After removing the ice spike, Nie Jia's wound began to rapidly heal, but he was covered in blood. The three people didn't notice that Nie Jia's wound had already healed in the blink of an eye.

Countless people within Huaxia wanted him dead, but only Shen Su had the courage and capability to send people to do it.

"He seems to have not told you the truth. If you die, don't blame me. Blame Shen Su for sending you to your death." Nie Jia stood up, his dazzling pupils filled with murderous intent.

The three individuals frowned simultaneously, watching as Nie Jia's hand reached to the back of his neck, where his fingertip revealed a signal source emitting a blue light.

In that moment, the spiritual world of the three was almost torn asunder!

"How is this possible..." The time manipulator stepped back in terror. If the signal source was forcibly removed, it would destroy the central nervous system. Even if the person didn't die, they would be incapacitated. How could Nie Jia still be standing here?!

"If it weren't for waiting for Shi Chen here, do you really think I'd be restricted by this thing?" Every word that spilled from Nie Jia's lips carried immense fury and ferocity, crushing the signal source between his teeth with sheer rage. He stood there like a poised blade, ready to draw blood in an instant.

The alarm in the reformation camp blared loudly, numerous prison guards aiming their guns from a distance at Nie Jia. His abilities were no longer restricted, leaving no time for warnings. Orders from above were clear: shoot on sight!

Countless 3D-printed guns, specially prepared to ambush Nie Jia, were poised from afar. But each gun contained a metal striker. Nie Jia didn't even bother to turn, simply snapping his fingers lightly. The strikers triggered, and a series of minor explosions echoed as all the guns exploded simultaneously.

"Run!" The cry of the ice manipulator echoed as he pressed his hands to the ground, summoning a massive ice wall to block Nie Jia's path.

He intended to buy some time, but when he turned to run with the other two, he saw Nie Jia gripping their necks. The crackle of electricity was so close, it made the ice manipulator collapse in terror, his brain unable to process anything.

Wasn't Nie Jia a control-type metal manipulator? Why were all his injuries gone? Why could he release electricity like an output-type ability user...? How could he teleport from a distance to here so quickly, faster than even a time manipulator could react?

The faces of the people in the conference room and the ice manipulator were identical.

Shen Su's gaze darkened. "As you can see, Nie Jia has awakened other abilities. His level of danger is incomparable now. Do you still think you can control him?"

The rapid response team from the reformation camp quickly surrounded the playground, but they couldn't stop Nie Jia. With a snap of his fingers, the three men died on the spot.

In the distance, a massive explosion suddenly occurred, followed by a shockwave that brought down the ice wall. An off-road vehicle emerged from the flames, skidding on the icy surface of the playground, drawing a huge arc.

Nie Jia watched the suddenly appearing off-road vehicle indifferently.

An Yuan leaned out of the car window, his eyes filled with excitement and joy as he looked at Nie Jia. "Boss, are you okay? I've come to rescue you!"

An Yuan turned the steering wheel sharply, driving towards Nie Jia, his face flushed with excitement. "Boss, get in quickly."

Before Nie Jia could react, An Yuan jumped out of the car like an excited puppy, vigorously wagging his tail as he pushed Nie Jia into the car.

After waiting for so long, all Nie Jia got was one assassination attempt. He didn't know what the Huaxia government was planning, or where Shi Chen was. Disappointed and furious, he followed An Yuan's force and got into the car, planning to leave first and then figure out another way to find Shi Chen.

The special forces from the reformation camp wouldn't let them leave so easily. With a command from the leader, countless people swarmed towards them.

The roar of the helicopter grew closer. Nie Jia glanced back and saw the door extending a dark sniper rifle barrel. A huge purple light appeared in front of the off-road vehicle, probably the space manipulator from their side. As long as they entered the light, they could return to base. Nie Jia paid no attention to it.

Nie Jia leaned against the car window, closing his eyes to rest. A large-caliber sniper bullet pierced through the skylight, piercing through An Yuan's right shoulder!

An Yuan screamed in pain, but he managed to hold onto the steering wheel steadily, stepping on the gas pedal, and the speed of the off-road vehicle instantly surged to its peak, smoke billowing from all four wheels as it rushed towards the light.

The anger that had just subsided in Nie Jia was ignited once again. He smashed open the skylight with a punch, intending to crush the helicopter. But he saw the sniper in the cabin lower his rifle and reveal a pair of jet-black eyes behind the scope—the eyes he had longed for day and night.

"Shi Chen..." Nie Jia reached out, but before he could say anything, the off-road vehicle rushed into the light and disappeared rapidly.

Shi Chen furrowed his brows, his rebellious black hair tousled by the wind. He stared blankly in the direction where Nie Jia had vanished for a long time, before suppressing the anger in his throat. "Land."
