Chapter 120: Born to be a Killer

Shortly after Nie Jia and Shi Chen's marriage, Lin Xian sold all the assets inherited to him. Subsequently, the family of three moved to France, causing a great stir in Qin City.

The Shi family's massive ship also began to crumble.

Before leaving, Lin Xian met Shi Yiyuan and informed her that her once cherished son, Lin Haoran, had taken his own life.

Shi Yiyuan, however, showed no sadness or anger. She coldly looked at Lin Xian and said, "You must be proud, finally able to step on my head."

Lin Xian chuckled self-deprecatingly, lowering his head and playing with his wedding ring. "Indeed, how could someone like you ever feel regret."

"Now you are the head of the Shi family. Everything I painstakingly built has been taken from me. Don't be too pleased in front of me. Without Nie Jia's planning and Shi Chen's support, you are still nothing!" Shi Yiyuan gnashed her teeth, as if making Lin Xian realize his incompetence would somehow ease her wounded pride.

"I have already sold the Shi family, at a not-so-good price, but enough for our family of three to live comfortably for the rest of our lives."

"What?" Shi Yiyuan was initially stunned, then she slammed her fists on the table, roaring, "You sold the Shi family? How dare you!"

A prison guard approached and forcibly pushed Shi Yiyuan back.

"I sold it. I never wanted the Shi family in the first place," Lin Xian said indifferently.

Shi Yiyuan struggled frantically, refusing to believe his words. She angrily shouted, "Nonsense! Who wouldn't want to be the head of the Shi family? If you didn't want it, why did you flatter Shi Chen and Nie Jia? If you didn't want it, why did you work so hard to please Dad?"

"What I wanted was never power. The biggest wish of my life is to have a happy family, loving parents, a brother to play basketball with. We don't need to be wealthy; as long as the family is safe and happy, that's enough." Lin Xian suddenly sounded like a child, expressing his desires calmly and self-deprecatingly. He looked at Shi Yiyuan, still furious, and said softly, "Unfortunately, you never gave that to me. It's the biggest regret of my life, and I don't want Lulu to experience that. So, even if I wanted to be the head of the Shi family, I can't do it for Lulu's sake. These are things you will never understand."

He stood up, nodded to the prison guard, and then left the meeting room. Behind him, Shi Yiyuan's furious curses continued.

With a bang, the door closed.

Due to incitement to murder and intentional killing charges, Shi Yiyuan was sentenced to death in court. The day Lin Xian's family landed in Paris, Shi Yiyuan was executed.

Chapter 121: The Unprecedented Crisis

In this life, Nie Jia and Shi Chen never argued or blushed even once. Well, they did blush quite a few times, especially in bed.

Ye Ying and Ten Li, on the other hand, had been bickering by their side for half a lifetime. Everything was as peaceful as if it were a dream.

Until Nie Jia opened his eyes again and saw the collapsing buildings, accompanied by a deafening roar. The world around him shook so violently that Nie Jia's ears felt deaf, and he couldn't even hear KK's cries in his mind.

The collapsing buildings in the night sky began to burn, and numerous lines of fire flew in all directions.

Bullets!

At the moment he woke up, Nie Jia thought the world was experiencing an earthquake, but it was clearly not. A bullet grazed his cheek, leaving a bloodstain. Only then did the burning sensation follow, making Nie Jia annoyed.

"Why are you standing there, Boss! Be careful!"

Not far away, a voice of panic shouted. Nie Jia stood amidst the chaotic air currents, his hair fluttering in the scorching breeze. Although he didn't hear any extra sounds, a sudden pain struck his back, as if a knife had viciously cut through. The searing pain arrived only after a moment, making Nie Jia frown. He was propelled several meters away by an invisible force, almost leaving the ground.

Almost airborne, Nie Jia, angered by the pain, quickly regained his balance to avoid rolling on the ground. He crouched down, pressing his hand against the ground to dissipate the inertia. Even so, Nie Jia still moved two meters sideways, indicating the immense force.

"Who?" Nie Jia stood up, his long eyebrows furrowed, and his dazzling eyes filled with murderous intent.

Nie Jia immediately realized that this was not an ordinary world; there could be superhumans, magicians, or cultivators...

The wound on his back was terrifying. In just a few seconds, blood had soaked through his back, flowing down his lower back. Despite the injury, he stood there covered in blood, giving an eerie feeling that kept people from approaching.

"Boss! Are you okay?" A young man with red hair rushed over, his face full of anxiety.

Clearly frightened, tears streamed down his face as he stood next to Nie Jia, looking at the wound in confusion. He wanted to take off his clothes to cover the wound, but Nie Jia pushed him away.

Nie Jia was now disowned, focused only on exposing the person who had ambushed him and crushing them!

Explosions continued in the distance, and more people rushed towards Nie Jia, shocked to see him suffer such severe injuries.

"Our escape route has been bombed! We need to find a place to hide. There's also a metal manipulator on the other side!" someone shouted amidst the constant explosions.

"It's that bastard Shen Su! Definitely him!" The red-haired young man cursed through gritted teeth. "Boss, this wound might be caused by Wind Blades, and Kong Fei must be here too. The government sent two Level-Five superhumans to ambush us. They're determined to wipe us out!"

More than a dozen people took refuge in a nearby terminal building, breathing heavily as if they had been chased by a dog for eight kilometers.

Their brief conversation brought some sanity back to Nie Jia. This was a world of superhumans, and he seemed to be the leader of a small team. What ability did he possess?

Leaning against the wall, Nie Jia sat cross-legged on the ground, leaving a horrifying bloodstain on the wall. He leaned against it, gazing blankly at his own hands.

KK finally spoke a sentence he could hear: [You also possess metal manipulation abilities, Level-Five. There are only seventeen Level-Five superhumans in the world.]

"Is that so?" Nie Jia murmured coldly, moving his fingertips slightly. The side wall of the terminal building suddenly dented with a loud crash.

Nie Jia clenched his fist like crumpling a piece of paper, and the side wall of the terminal building crumbled like a fragile paper, tightly compressing steel and concrete into a spherical shape, rolling away.

The commotion was not small, and it frightened everyone around Nie Jia.

Someone exclaimed in fear, "Damn! Is Shen Su trying to bury us alive in there?"

The red-haired youth scolded him, "Our leader is here; Shen Su is nothing." After saying that, he approached Nie Jia, nervously and concerned, asked, "Boss, how's your wound? Meng Yao is still at the base. You must hold on until we get back. This kind of wound... Meng Yao can definitely heal it easily."

While speaking, he cried sadly.

Seeing his worried appearance, Nie Jia, upon closer inspection, realized it wasn't Shi Chen and couldn't be bothered to continue looking. He replied coldly, "It's already fine. Don't cry and bother me."

"What?" Nie Jia rubbed his wrist as he stood up. The bloodstains on his back looked terrifying at first glance, still flesh and blood, but upon closer inspection, it was only the clothes soaked through with blood.

The red-haired youth turned sorrow into joy, then into sorrow again. In Nie Jia's indifferent gaze, he choked up for a moment, but he stopped crying. The others also breathed a sigh of relief.

Outside, someone was besieging them, ready to die at any moment. In this urgent situation, Nie Jia had no time to receive the world data KK transmitted and could only focus on resolving the current situation.

KK hurriedly reminded, "In the original plotline, the original protagonist Nie Jia would be severely injured in this battle. Please be careful."

"Didn't I just take a hit?" Nie Jia asked.

"I don't know. The data packet after this update is fragmented. I need to analyze and piece together many parts. Perhaps, in the future, the Director can restore it for me. For now, please be vigilant." KK honestly said.

Nie Jia frowned. KK's data source was Shi Chen, and now the data packet was incomplete. Did something happen to Shi Chen?

Nervously, he asked, "Can you sense Shi Chen?"

KK shook its head, "I can't sense her. I can only say that the Public Prosecution Team's patches are fast, and the Director will solve it soon. You don't need to worry."

Nie Jia nodded, healed the fingertip scratch he got earlier, and prepared to go out to face the enemy.

Since they were both Level-Five superhumans, he had nothing to fear.

As Nie Jia lifted his foot to leave, the red-haired group asked anxiously, "Boss, where are you going?"

"I'm going out to meet the person who ambushed me, and I'll take care of them." Nie Jia grinded out a chilling killing intent from between his teeth.

At this moment, a voice amplified by a loudspeaker came from outside. Despite the poor quality of the speaker, the voice sounded clear, "Nie Jia, as I said before, we don't want to kill you; we just want to talk. Do you really want to live forever like a rat in a dark hole?"

"Talk my ass!" The red-haired youth spat disdainfully, "A bunch of hypocritical pseudo-gentlemen who killed so many of our brothers. How can they speak so self-righteously? We are rats in the hole, but have they considered who caused it!"

"Quiet." Nie Jia frowned and scolded.

The red-haired youth shut his mouth, silently following Nie Jia out.

When Nie Jia walked out of the terminal building, he saw a row of soldiers holding pursuit rifles outside, fully armed, aiming at Nie Jia through scopes.

In the front, there were also two handsome young men wearing army uniforms with the rank of Army Captain.

Nie Jia instantly had a bad premonition and asked KK secretly, "Why is it the military? What was the original protagonist's wish?"

KK replied in a miserable tone, "To exterminate all of humanity."
