"Hint: The Spirit of the Rainforest invites you to a duel!

Considering your relatively weak level and strength, you only need to kill one of the three: the Wind God Winged Dragon, the Spotted Giant Crocodile, or the Steel Fang Dreadnought Dragon, to gain the recognition of the Spirit of the Rainforest!"

...

A duel?

What a load of crap!

As soon as the three major lord-level monsters appeared, Matthew's eyes began to wander incessantly.

He was preparing to run.

Joking, this was not a lineup of monsters that a normal person could contend with!

Don't be deceived by their levels. In fact, levels were only a part of their strength, especially in a place like the rainforest, where prehistoric species were abundant.

Sometimes, size and tonnage were everything!

"Wu Yeah~"

An ear-piercing screech tore through the sky, and a shadow that blocked out the sky passed over their heads. For several seconds, Matthew couldn't even see the moonlight!

That was the Wind God Winged Dragon.

As the most powerful subspecies of pterosaurs, it ruled the skies. Even in prehistoric times, even the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the lord of the land, was on the hunting list of the Wind God Winged Dragon.

It showed just how powerful it was, a genuine top-tier predator.

Ordinary Wind God Winged Dragons had long, slender necks, and their wings could span up to 10 meters when fully extended. The one they were dealing with now was the cream of the crop within the subspecies.

Matthew estimated its wingspan to be around 14 meters, and its weight was at least 550 kilograms or more!

The Wind God Winged Dragon was exceptionally swift and cunning, and it wouldn't attack unless it had the right opportunity.

Due to its control of the sky, it made it difficult for enemies to find an opening to attack it. But the opposite was not true.

It had plenty of opportunities to exploit your weaknesses.

In a land versus air situation, it was naturally an unfair fight.

In Matthew's understanding, only a fourth-tier or higher necromancer who had mastered the Death Magic would have a chance to face it.

Relying on low-level undead was out of the question for dealing with a Wind God Winged Dragon. Even Bone Dragons wouldn't cut it.

But what was even more terrifying was that this one was just the vanguard!

In the distance, trees were continuously falling in groups, and a large number of small animals were panicking and running around.

Under the moonlight, a faint green figure was recklessly sprinting through the rainforest.

Its body was streamlined, with an overall green color; its head resembled a cone, with small eyes, and a jaw that split high, revealing four rows of sharp teeth.

It had almost invisible front limbs and incredibly robust hind limbs, with a thick, spiky tail.

From the outline, it looked more like a gigantic spiked melon.

That was the Dreadnought Dragon!

Although it hadn't reached them yet, the group could already feel its unparalleled pressure.

This was the bloodline suppression of a colossal creature against regular-sized creatures!

You couldn't imagine the terror of a mountain-sized predator charging at you with all its might.

And now Matthew was experiencing it firsthand.

Due to his relationship with Ronan, he had also learned some peripheral information about the "Resurrection of Ancient Mythical Creatures" project, which included information on the Dreadnought Dragon.

Matthew distinctly remembered that an adult Dreadnought Dragon had an average length between 28 to 40 meters and weighed around 80 to 130 tons.

The one in the rainforest was relatively small in size, possibly not yet fully grown.

But Matthew estimated its length to be around 25 meters, and its weight to be several tens of tons.

Even Fyloreus would be as fragile as glass in front of it.

Matthew had a clear understanding of his own abilities. The Dreadnought Dragon and the Wind God Winged Dragon were threats on the surface, and the Spotted Giant Crocodile at their level was even more cunning, lurking in the shadows from the beginning.

Although Matthew didn't see it, with "giant" in its name, it was definitely no pushover.

With his current strength, he should steer clear of them!

In just under ten seconds, Matthew made a decisive decision. He ordered all the zombies to move towards the path where the Dreadnought Dragon was charging, while he prepared for a tactical retreat.

"Old Gito, we might..."

Matthew's words were cut short as he was surprised to find that Old Gito behind him had already disappeared!

"He ran."

Loran shook the flute in his hand.

"What's your plan next, brave an enemy confrontation? Do you need me to play you a tune?"

"No need, we better hurry too. Do you have a way to retreat quickly? If not, I might have to try the swamp."

Matthew didn't blame Old Gito; in fact, he was impressed that Loran didn't run even in such a situation.

At the same time, Matthew also realized that Loran likely had a means of retreating at any moment.

As expected, Loran casually tapped his ring, and a charged staff with a large sapphire appeared in his hand.

Matthew had sharp eyes and recognized that it was no ordinary charged staff; it was a priceless teleportation staff!

So he secretly breathed a sigh of relief and quietly put back the "Forced Teleportation Scroll" in his bag, which had cost him half of his fortune.

"Are we just going to run like this?"

Loran raised the staff nonchalantly.

"I mean, should we leave them with some souvenirs or something?"

Meanwhile, near the highlands, the previously scattered beasts returned, and apart from the direction of the swamp, they were surrounded on all sides.

The Wind God Winged Dragon continued to hover menacingly in the sky.

The Spotted Giant Crocodile was nowhere to be seen.

The Dreadnought Dragon was getting closer and closer.

"Come and fight! Be a man, kill or be killed, that's how a Rainforest Warrior should be!"

The voice of the Spirit of the Rainforest echoed in Matthew's ears.

"You call a duel when three lord-level fourth-tier monsters gang up on a second-tier necromancer? Have some shame! Even if you are the Rainforest Soul, you can't twist the facts like this!" Martin retorted without mincing words.

The Rainforest Soul fell silent for a moment and then replied, "You are right, but it's survival of the fittest. Good luck, necromancer."

After that, Martin could sense that the three lord-level monsters were starting to act strangely. If earlier the Rainforest Soul had some control over them, now they were like unleashed beasts, preparing to go on a rampage.

"Let's go!" Martin urged, and all the Silvermoon zombies that were in position detonated simultaneously.

Roar! The Dread Tyrant lunged fiercely, reaching a position less than ten meters away from the two.

A foul stench accompanied its drool. From this angle, Martin could even see the blisters on its tongue!

At a critical moment, Lysanna raised her staff, and a blue teleportation gate opened between them.

Without a word, both of them jumped through it.

Splat! The moment they landed on the other side, the Dread Tyrant's tongue swept through the teleportation gate. If it hadn't been for Abin's quick slashes, Martin and Lysanna would have been pulled back through.

This scene scared Lysanna, and she quickly closed the portal. She began panting heavily.

Martin was also shaken, but he forced himself to check their surroundings. "Where are we? Was this a random teleport?"

He observed the familiar rainforest ecology around them, and there were fallen trees on his right.

Lysanna explained, "There are two modes for this teleportation gate. One is pseudo-random, which can bring us to a relatively safe place within a radius of five kilometers. The other is a designated location, but the prerequisite is that the teleportation destination must be visible to the naked eye."

Martin nodded. He extended his hand to help Lysanna stand up and said, "Thank you. I didn't expect you to fight alongside me in this situation."

Lysanna shook his hand firmly and stood up. Martin could feel that his hand was cold, likely due to the recent scare. However, Lysanna quickly smiled and said, "Where do you think I made so many friends? Do you really believe you can buy true friends with money? Only those who are sincere can make real friends."

Although Martin didn't entirely agree with his philosophy, he didn't argue, considering Lysanna had just helped them. He pointed out, "We shouldn't stay here for too long. This rainforest is dangerous, and its creatures are expert trackers. We might be pursued at any moment."

Just as Lysanna was about to respond, a familiar and ear-piercing screech echoed from the sky.

Whoosh! A colossal shadow blocked out the sun as it passed overhead.

It was a Wind Spirit Wyvern.

Both of their expressions changed. The Wind Spirit Wyvern circled back and then dove toward them suddenly.

In the nick of time, Martin threw a Capture Ball into the air. In an instant, a grayish net took shape in the sky. While capturing a Wind Spirit Wyvern with this was a fantastical notion, it significantly hindered its pursuit.

Cautious as always, the Wind Spirit Wyvern managed to dodge the enormous net from the Capture Ball and planned to try its dive again.

However, this time, Martin and Lysanna had already taken off running into the forest!

Whoosh! A strong gust of wind blew, and they nearly stumbled, almost crashing into the trees around them.

The Wind Spirit Wyvern was hot on their heels, and it clearly knew the rainforest terrain better. Despite their clever maneuvers to avoid it, it would relock onto them in just a few seconds.

As they found it difficult to shake it off with conventional methods, Martin quickly retrieved a bottle from his Magic Bag and handed it to Lysanna. "Drink half, then pass it back to me."

Lysanna, without questioning, took the bottle and drank half. After a moment, he returned it to Martin. "This tastes strange, like someone else has drunk from it."

Without hesitation, Martin downed the remaining quarter of the potion.

...

"Hint: You've consumed an 'Advanced Sprinting Potion.' Your running speed has greatly increased! Warning: The Wind Spirit Wyvern is about to initiate another dive!"

...

"Run!" Martin yelled as he surged forward.

This time, they moved much faster. Their figures left trails on the open ground in the rainforest, almost crashing into the surrounding trees.

Lysanna struggled to keep up with Martin. Under the effect of the Advanced Sprinting Potion, they displayed an unusual burst of speed, finally putting some distance between them and the Wind Spirit Wyvern.

However, the danger was far from over. The Wind Spirit Wyvern maintained its aerial advantage, and Martin dared not delay. He kept urging Lysanna to run faster.

But by now, Lysanna was clearly fatigued and could hardly keep up. He was sweating and panting heavily as he complained, "Martin, what did you do to this rainforest to make it so angry? Did you urinate everywhere? Please, I even went to urinate in the bushes by the roadside!"

Martin chuckled and refrained from arguing. Instead, he suggested, "We should rest for three minutes."

Lysanna, however, sprang up energetically, saying, "You can't leave me behind! Martin, I told you I wanted to fight alongside you, and I won't abandon my partner like Old Gito. I'm going to become a legendary bard, and I can't have 'abandoned a friend' on my glorious resume."

Martin considered explaining that leaving Lysanna behind wouldn't be considered abandoning a friend, but Lysanna's determination was unwavering. He dismissed the thought.

"Then rest for three minutes," Martin said.

Lysanna slumped down against a tree and seemed to lose focus. He sighed, "I miss the City of a Hundred Flowers so much. It's true that you only realize how beautiful something was after you've lost it. Especially Lady Cindril. Whenever I feel melancholic, she silently consoles me with her warm embrace. I'm so tired. Oh, Lady, I should have never betrayed you."

Martin was curious and asked, "So, Lady Cindril was the mistress of that estate?"

Lysanna shook his head. "No, she was the mistress's sister."

Both Martin and the partially visible Ella widened their eyes.

Thirty minutes later.

Deep within the rainforest, on the edge of a small swamp.

Martin and Lysanna looked ahead with serious expressions. There, a group of wyverns was feeding on several marshland sheep carcasses.

Perhaps due to some exhaustion, Ella hadn't sensed their presence in advance.

The two parties collided head-on.

The wyverns were immediately startled and took flight. They circled menacingly in the air, watching Martin and Lysanna closely.

"Get ready for battle," Martin said as he pulled out his crossbow and aimed it at the probable leader of the wyverns.

Lysanna nodded and prepared to play his flute.

But the wyverns circled them for a while and then, suddenly, their leader screeched and flew away. They didn't even finish their meal of marshland sheep.

Other wyverns followed suit, one by one, flying away.

Martin and Lysanna exchanged puzzled glances. They both sensed that something was wrong.

They tried to detour around the swamp to continue forward.

But before long, they heard a deafening sound coming from behind them. Trees toppled, and the earth trembled. Something enormous was charging toward them.

"A tyrant Behemoth!" Martin grabbed Lysanna's hand and continued to flee. The monstrous creature was getting closer, and the overwhelming pressure weighed down on them once more.

At the same time, Ella reminded them, "A spotted giant crocodile is getting closer. I can't sense its exact location, but I can smell its menacing odor. It's nearby!"

In this moment of crisis, Martin's eyes scanned their surroundings. Just then, a voice came from the trees above them.

"Head east to the cliffs, there's a traveler-carved cave up there. You should be able to avoid the tyrant Behemoth and the giant crocodile!"

"Old Gito!?" Lysanna exclaimed with joy, looking up to see Old Gito clinging to a tree branch like a monkey, his face painted with two streaks of grease.

"I knew you wouldn't abandon us!" Lysanna said.

Old Gito responded calmly, "I have my employer's request, even if he's dead, I'll still collect his body. I don't like doing this kind of work, so both of you better stay alive."

With that, he glanced in the direction of the source of the tremors and urged, "The tyrant Behemoth is getting close. You need to go."

Old Gito then leaped into action, disappearing from their view in a few breaths.

The two didn't dare to waste time and quickly headed toward the direction Old Gito had indicated. In no time, they reached a small peak, and on the west side of the cliffs, they found the cave he mentioned.

"Let's go!" Lysanna raised his teleportation staff again. This time, the destination was within their line of sight and they could teleport directly.

Through the teleportation gate, they arrived at the cave high on the cliff.

The environment was dry, undisturbed, and an ideal place to hide from danger. The only downside was the narrow space. Martin and Lysanna had to squeeze inside to avoid accidentally falling from the edge.

However, for the first time in hours, they felt a sense of relaxation. The relief of escaping from the relentless pursuit was overwhelming.

The fatigue hit them, and their eyes grew heavy. Night fell, and the roars of the tyrant Behemoth reverberated from below, shaking the ground.

The cave was dimly lit by the moonlight seeping in from outside.

Feeling uncomfortable, Martin shifted his position. However, he ended up face to face with Lysanna, their foreheads almost touching.

"Oh, Martin, are you sure you want to sleep like this? I have to warn you; anyone who sleeps with me overnight falls in love, without exception," Lysanna teased, oozing charm.

Martin remained expressionless, not engaging in the banter, and simply muttered, "Shut up."

Lysanna pouted but stopped, trying to get comfortable. After a while, he squirmed again.

"Oh, Martin, you're so funny. You're saying one thing and doing another. Hey, hey, hey, don't touch my chest!"

Martin was taken aback, looking at him with a puzzled expression. "What are you talking about?"

But it was Miss Owl who spoke up at that moment, poking her head out.

"Sorry, it's me. I didn't know it was your chest. I thought it was Martin's."

Lysanna shrugged. "It seems I'm the third wheel here."

Slightly embarrassed, Martin and Ella exchanged glances.

Outside the cave, the sound of rapid flight suddenly filled the night sky.

"It's the Windward Wyvern; it couldn't stand being alone and wants to attack at night!" Lysanna nervously exclaimed.

Martin's eyes showed a touch of killing intent. "It's fine; it's coming at just the right time."

"You have a plan?" Lysanna asked.

Martin shook his head, saying, "Nothing too fancy. Just a small plan. In the rainforest, it's all about survival of the fittest."

Then he added, "But I might need your help in a bit."

He handed Lysanna a coughing wand, explained how to use it, and shared his simple plan.

Along the way, Lysanna had earned Martin's trust. If he couldn't trust someone in times like these, Martin believed there was no one to trust in the world.

"I understand," Lysanna said earnestly, nodding his head.

He didn't hesitate to take out a small notebook and gave it to Martin. "Take this with you and come back alive."

Martin was surprised by the gesture, but Lysanna looked at him with sincerity in his eyes, and Martin realized that he could trust this man in moments of hardship.

Outside the cave, the moonlight cast a faint glow. Ella had a suggestion for Martin. "Martin, the moon is out. I can take you to the Moonlit Grove to seek the Goddess's help."

But Martin shook his head firmly. "I appreciate your offer, but not for now."

He couldn't request aid from Asiya at this moment. The balance of cooperation with her was a bit delicate, as she was more vulnerable in their previous interactions. If he actively sought her assistance now, the dynamics would change.

Despite the difficult situation, Martin felt he wasn't in a hopeless position. As he huddled with Lysanna, he was constantly brainstorming strategies for dealing with the three creatures that pursued them.

The tyrant Behemoth was out of the question, being virtually indestructible. Its thick blood, coupled with the Lord template, made it highly resistant to instant death spells. Even legendary mages would struggle to wear it down.

"Hint: You are equipped with the magical item 'Book of Abundance,' granting you a +3 bonus to your Focus.

Continuing to read the Book of Abundance will grant you additional Focus bonuses."

At the edge of the cave.

Martin's mind remained remarkably calm.

He could hear the sounds of air currents fluctuating.

He knew the Windward Wyvern was hovering nearby!

It was cunning, not inclined to attack on its own, but Martin's next move would leave it no choice.

As the guardian of the Rainforest Spirit, it might be sly, but it couldn't afford to miss this opportunity.

And Martin was about to gift it with such an opportunity!

In the next moment.

He transformed into a crow and flew out lightly.

Once out of the cave, he spotted the Windward Wyvern circling above him, just as he had expected!

Martin flapped his wings and took flight.

The Windward Wyvern, seeing the crow, hesitated for a moment.

It had indeed detected a scent of conspiracy. However, Rainforest Spirit's fierce urgings left it no room for further hesitation. If it could have been cautious earlier, it now found no reason to refuse the Rainforest Spirit.

Swish!

The Windward Wyvern made a decisive move, pouncing towards the crow.

In the sky.

The air currents shifted.

The crow, navigating through the strong winds, was soon caught up by the Windward Wyvern. With the Windward Wyvern's razor-sharp claws nearly scratching Martin's forehead.

In the next moment.

The crow exerted its last ounce of strength, moving upwards by half an inch.

During this process, its body began undergoing a dramatic transformation.

Wilderness Form: Moon Bear!

Due to the moonlight's illumination, Martin's transformation was seamless without any hiccups. Everything happened in the blink of an eye. Even the Windward Wyvern, a sky-dominating entity, couldn't react in time.

In haste, the Wyvern tilted to the side.

Unfortunately, it was too late.

The Moon Bear seized the Windward Wyvern's wing, exerted force from its waist, and mounted it!

The Windward Wyvern let out a mournful cry. It desperately flapped its wings, revealing its innate spellcasting abilities. With control over the air currents, it managed to maintain some semblance of balance but descended at a slower rate.

At this critical moment, Loran's help arrived.

Martin stood at the cliff's edge, pointing the Coughing Wand at the Windward Wyvern that was struggling.

Poof!

A gray light shot out, hitting the ailing Wyvern with pinpoint accuracy.

It began to cough violently.

In this situation, it could no longer keep its balance. Both Moon Bear and the Wyvern plummeted.

With a deafening crash!

Several trees were shattered one after another, and eventually, the Windward Wyvern barely clung to a tree stump, hanging on for dear life.

Martin reverted to his human form.

Strange movements surrounded the Rainforest.

To the left, the Tyrant Behemoth was still charging towards them.

From the right, the giant crocodile in the river silently emerged, revealing its massive head.

Hiss!

The dying Windward Wyvern made one final desperate attempt to reach Martin.

But Martin's reaction was faster.

He instantaneously transformed into the Moon Bear and slapped the Wyvern's head with one massive paw, shattering its skull!

To prevent the Wyvern from surviving, Martin grabbed its neck and ferociously thrashed its head and body.

Several minutes later.

This brutal slaughter finally came to an end.

It was at this moment that Martin realized the Tyrant Behemoth, charging recklessly earlier, had stopped in its tracks.

The gigantic crocodile in the river had disappeared without a trace.

"Hint: You've defeated the 'Windward Wyvern' single-handedly and gained the opportunity to enter the sub-domain 'Dragon Slayer' as part of the 'Dragon' domain.

Dragon Slayer (Wyvern): Your Legendary Points +1 (Wyvern)

You've gained the Domain Ability: Dragon Slayer (Significant resistance to the might of dragons)."

"You've defeated the 'Windward Wyvern' and passed the Rainforest Spirit's trial.

You've gained the opportunity to enter the 'Blackthorn Dreamland'!"
