Chapter 512: The Guide

Luo did not believe that finding a way out would pose any danger; at most, it would just take a lot of time and effort.

Indeed, having Bruna, a local resident, guide them might increase efficiency, but it would also put Bruna in danger. Hence, Luo would not agree to it.

Facing Luo's refusal, the clan leader looked at Bruna, who then asked, "Can you tell when the Rock Island Crab is underwater and when it is on land?"

Luo's eyes flickered. This was indeed a problem.

Knowing they were inside the Rock Island Crab but unable to feel any vibrations, it felt as if the Rock Island Crab was stationary. In reality, it was constantly moving.

Thus, determining when the Rock Island Crab would land on the Dark Continent was an unsolvable problem.

If they found a way out of the Rock Island Crab at the wrong time, they would likely be crushed by the water pressure.

"I can." Bruna said softly at this moment.

Hesitating for a moment, Luo asked, "How will you return to your home after we leave?"

"I have my ways." Bruna's body began to emit a red glow.

Despite Bruna's assurance, Luo still felt it was too dangerous for her.

Sensing Luo's hesitation, Bruna slowly floated closer and softly said, "Please give us a chance to repay our debt."

The Bruna tribe, to collect energy to maintain the glowing algae, had to bear the risk of the parasites, making sacrifices inevitable.

The energy Luo provided the Bruna tribe could sustain them for at least half a year. To find that much energy on their own might cost at least ten lives.

Thus, the Bruna tribe was very grateful to Luo and sought an opportunity to repay him.

Bruna's attitude was firm, and Luo finally agreed to take her along. They headed towards the exit via a stone bridge.

In the settlement, many Bruna tribe members quietly watched Luo's group leave.

The clan leader's gaze fell on Bruna. For some reason, his aged body emitted a faint blue light.

Returning to the dark area, Tonpa immediately used Nen to scout.

"This algae is quite useful." Biscuit channeled Nen into the glowing algae stuck to her body. A bright light instantly appeared and then disappeared as she cut off the Nen.

"Take some of the other types of algae with you; they might come in handy." Luo gave some other types of algae to Biscuit. He also had glowing algae on his limbs, emitting a bright light when he channeled Nen into it.

Biscuit accepted the algae, thinking it was indeed a product of the Dark Continent. Using Nen as fuel, it vaguely had the function of a Nen conjuration item.

Tonpa also had glowing algae, but his Nen skills were clumsy. He could not simultaneously use Nen and channel it into the algae, so his algae did not glow.

The black cat could use the algae too, but it did not want to waste its stored Nen. After playing with the algae for a while, it retracted into Luo's hand.

Bruna clung to Luo's shoulder, her tentacles always connected to his temple, guiding their path.

The environment was perpetually dark, yet Bruna could distinguish directions and roads, possibly a racial talent of the Bruna tribe.

The light from the algae was like the sun in the dark area, drawing the attention of many hidden parasites. However, they all avoided it, looking at the distant light ball with extreme disgust.

According to the clan leader, many species once served as scavengers for the Rock Island Crab. Over the years of fierce battles, only the fish-headed parasite species survived the evolutionary competition and grew stronger.

They evolved to fear strong light, gaining formidable combat power in the dark. Even the fierce monsters in the other three safe zones would suffer heavy losses without a numerical advantage.

This evolution was a choice.

They gained dominance inside the Rock Island Crab but lost the right to pursue freedom. Meanwhile, the four monster species in the safe zones perhaps always harbored the desire to leave their shelter and establish their own roots.

Maybe, to them, the six continents of the human world were the true holy land. Rich lands and safe environments made it a dreamland.

After three hours of rapid travel, the journey seemed endless. They couldn't fathom the size of the Rock Island Crab and were amazed by its severe lithiasis. If a human had so many stones in their body, they would be in unbearable pain.

Tonpa's reports never ceased along the way, discovering new parasite squads every one or two minutes. This showed the parasites were innumerable.

Without the glowing algae, if the parasites suddenly decided to attack, Luo and his group would face endless assaults, making it impossible to advance and possibly leading to their death by exhaustion.

After traveling for most of the day, Luo's group stopped to rest for a while, ate to fill their stomachs, and then continued on.

Suddenly, Bruna's tentacles twitched slightly, reminding them, "The Rock Island Crab is feeding."

Luo immediately relayed Bruna's reminder to Biscuit and the others.

Feeding? But there was no movement at all.

Luo and Biscuit looked around. It was eerily quiet, and they couldn't understand how Bruna made that judgment.

"This is one of the food drop points. We need to leave here quickly." Bruna emitted a faint green light.

"Lead the way," Luo commanded decisively.

Bruna immediately guided them to a slope, leading them upwards. They climbed a full five hundred meters before reaching the top.

At this moment, a rumbling sound of water echoed from the darkness, seemingly far away. But judging by the sound, it was as massive as when they had inexplicably fallen.

Bruna's green light gradually intensified. Her frail body could not withstand a large wave, let alone a strong wind.

As the noise drew closer, the rushing sound of water accelerated. What was distant ten seconds ago was now near.

"Roar!"

A deafening roar came from an unknown height, causing Tonpa and Bruna to shiver.

It was probably a giant sea monster swallowed by the Rock Island Crab, still alive while traveling through its esophagus but ultimately doomed to die.

The torrential waves carried countless creatures, filling the spacious ground in an instant.

As the seawater rolled over and drained away, leaving quickly, many sea monster corpses remained on the wet ground.

After the tides subsided, countless parasites moved in the dark, and other monster species also emerged from the safe zones, seeking energy and food.

Soon, battles erupted in the darkness.

Luo's group stood on high ground, their bright light like a sun in the sky, drawing attention but not attacks from the parasites.

"It seems we can't go down for now."

Listening to the sounds of battle in the dark, Luo chose to avoid the conflict.

Despite the strong light repelling the parasites, descending during the chaos was not wise.
