Chapter 367: The Old Man and the Small Eatery

The journey had been arduous, with the only greenery visible being the dancing and running cacti. Finally, they arrived at the Elba Oasis, where they could see trees pointing straight to the sky.

One would think that the harsh environment of the Kendia Desert would lead to a backward population and economy. However, upon arrival, they found a bustling marketplace filled with people.

The buildings in the Elba Oasis predominantly featured yellow tones. Each building had thick mud walls, rough and uneven, with few and small windows, prioritizing practicality over aesthetics. These structures reduced the heat from the sun during the day and retained warmth at night, making them ideal for desert environments.

The yellow buildings on the outskirts of the oasis were more scattered, gradually becoming denser towards the center. At the very center of the oasis stood a palace, towering above all else.

In the Elba Oasis, there were designated places for travelers and merchants to house their armored cows, but a daily fee was required.

Luo housed his armored cow at a merchant’s place, paid a considerable deposit, and then walked into the bustling market with Linne and the others.

“Where to next?” Luo asked, looking at the passing crowd.

“To meet an old friend,” Linne replied.

Luo nodded, not asking further.

The deeper they went, the narrower the streets between the buildings became, and the more crowded it got. The streets were lined with shops selling various goods, each with a canopy to shield against the scorching sun.
