Chapter 351: The Seed

In the memory fragment, the stone box had no mechanisms and could be opened by simply lifting the lid. Previously, he thought it couldn’t be opened due to the resentment, but now it seemed that wasn’t the case.

Could it be glued shut with strong adhesive? Even without Nen, his strength was not weak, so how could he not open it?

Luo put down the stone box and turned to the other two in the room, saying, "I can't open it, you try."

He couldn't use Nen at the moment, but Linne and Ging might have the ability to open the stone box.

Ging temporarily set aside his admiration for Luo's exorcism methods and came to the table, taking the stone box in his hands. It was his first time touching the stone box, and it felt quite heavy.

Linne also came over, watching quietly.

The three in the room were very interested in the stone box, while the black cat had no interest in it at all. He ran to the refrigerator and started rummaging for food.

He hoped Luo could quickly digest and absorb the resentment, enhancing his potential aura. Once the plundering condition was met, the aura he could plunder would increase.

In other words, the more potential aura Luo had, the more benefits he would get.

Ging picked up the stone box and tried using brute force, but nothing happened. It was no wonder Luo couldn't open it.

"凝 (Gyo)!"

Nen surged, gathering between his hands.

Ging gradually increased his strength, but the stone box didn’t budge at all, remaining as stable as a mountain.

Even when Ging used his maximum strength, he couldn't open the stone box. He withdrew the Nen and looked at Luo with a puzzled expression.

"Can't open it?" Luo frowned.

"Yeah." Ging looked down at the stone box. It had no Nen, yet it couldn't be opened? The force he used should have been enough to crush the stone box.

"Let me try," Linne suddenly said.

Ging was stunned for a moment but quickly handed the stone box to Linne.

Linne took the stone box, covered in Nen, and despite using all her strength, she still couldn't open it.

The resentment had been removed, and there was no Nen left on the stone box. Why couldn't it be opened?

Ging and Linne were deeply puzzled. With the combined force they used, even if the stone box were not hollow, it should have been forcibly broken into two pieces, yet it remained so solid.

Seeing that neither of them could open the stone box, Luo was even more puzzled. The information he saw in the memory fragment wasn't like this.

If even Nen-enhanced strength couldn't open it, perhaps the stone box was immune to physical factors. In other words, brute force alone couldn’t open it, no matter how strong it was.

The room fell into a silent atmosphere, with the three of them staring at the stone box, big eyes staring at small eyes.

After a while, Luo suddenly looked at the black cat rummaging in the refrigerator and said, "Black cat, come here."

The black cat poked his head out of the refrigerator, a sausage in his mouth, and asked, "What?"

"Turn into a harp," Luo ordered.

"Huh?" The black cat swallowed the sausage and said, "You kid, you wouldn't be planning to play that piece, would you?"

"Cut the crap, come over here." Luo glared at the black cat.

He indeed intended to play the harp version of the Dark Sonata, thinking maybe this method could open the stone box. As for the cost, he didn't care.

He rarely used it before because the cost was reducing lifespan, but now that he knew there were longevity foods on the Dark Continent, his concerns had lessened.

If he knew that the White Smoke Font could weaken most of the cost, he might not have kept the Dark Sonata hidden until now and might have even tried to use the Dark Sonata to attack the Void.

Seeing Luo's determination, the black cat closed the refrigerator with a snap and turned into a black harp in front of Luo.

Luo took the harp transformed from the black cat and said to Ging and Linne, "You guys move away a bit."

"What do you want to do?" Ging asked.

Luo revealed a dangerous smile and said, "Play the Dark Sonata."

Ging and Linne had heard of the Dark Sonata, and hearing Luo say this, they couldn’t help but be shocked.

"Trust me."

Before they could voice their objections, Luo stopped them with just two words.

His tone, his attitude, was so firm that there was no room for argument.

Helplessly, the two retreated to the corner again, watching Luo who stood still with the harp.

Anyone who could play could bring out the wondrous effects of the piece, which was one of the most inexplicable advantages of the Dark Sonata.

Luo couldn't use Nen now, but he knew how to play the piece, which was enough.

With a flick of his fingers, the strings resonated, and a contradictory sound, both low and clear, flowed out, echoing in the room.

Black mist bloomed from Luo's fingertips like a rose, flowing behind him.

A cold aura spread quietly, filling the room, causing Ging and Linne, who were standing in the corner, to instinctively tense up.

Luo's movements on the strings grew faster, and the sound of the strings became more melodic. The flowing black mist, following Luo's will, surged towards the stone box, enveloping it into a black sphere in the blink of an eye.

As the notes approached their end, Luo felt something being drawn out from within him. He knew it was the loss of his lifespan.

On the table, the black mist suddenly dispersed, and Luo almost instantly stopped plucking the strings, as the piece had ended.

The lid of the stone box had been lifted and placed aside.

It was opened.

Luo casually tossed the harp aside, and it transformed back into a black cat in mid-air.

Ging and Linne hurried to Luo's side, checking his condition first but found nothing wrong.

Everyone had secrets, and despite their curiosity, they didn't ask much.

However, in Ging's eyes, the mystery around Luo had deepened, as if shrouded in a thin mist.

Luo looked at the stone box, which contained a round object resembling a walnut with coarse textures on its surface, yellowish-bronze, and metallic luster.

It looked like a bronze-cast sphere, but Luo knew it was a lifeform called a "seed," feeding on flesh and blood, a rather peculiar existence.

Luo wanted to touch it, but he couldn't use Nen now. Even if he couldn't confirm if the seed was dead, he didn't dare to touch it rashly.

If the seed was still alive, touching it without Nen protection might cause it to consume him.

For a moment, the three of them stood around the round table, quietly observing the item in the stone box, no one speaking.

After a while, Ging spoke first, "A brass-made ball?"

Judging by its appearance, this was the only conclusion they could draw.

Luo hesitated for a moment and said, "This is a seed."

Then, he shared all the information he knew.

A seed... waiting to sprout.

No one knew how much flesh and blood this seed needed to sprout, and what would happen once it did.
