Chapter 328: Teasing

Hearing that the family's beast dragon had died, Illumi fell silent.

That beast dragon, usually used by his father and grandfather, was a convenient mode of transportation. However, compared to the beast dragon, he preferred conventional transportation, so he didn't have much attachment to it.

Nonetheless, since it was borrowed from the family by Luo and ended up dead, an explanation was due, even though it had nothing to do with him.

For a moment, Illumi stared at Luo with sympathetic eyes, then said, "Follow me, I'll take you to see the great-grandfather."

Before he finished speaking, he had already turned and started walking back the way they came.

Upon seeing this, Gotoh's eyes flashed with a hint of surprise. He withdrew his aura, stepped back a few steps, and made way.

In his view, Luo looked about sixteen years old. How could he have any dealings with Maha? If Luo hadn't walked in through the front door and opened the sixth gate, based on that flawed story alone, he would have acted already.

Unexpectedly, what Luo said was all true. Not only did he have dealings with the oldest member of the family, Maha, but he also borrowed the family's beast dragon, which ended up dead.

Suppressing the complex emotions in his heart, Gotoh lowered his head slightly and stood quietly aside.

Luo ignored him and quickly took a few steps to catch up with Illumi.

When Luo and Illumi's figures disappeared from sight, Gotoh raised his lowered head, took out his phone, and dialed Tsubone's number to report the incident clearly.

The call ended quickly, and after confirming Luo's identity and intentions, the alert initiated by the butler was lifted.

Gotoh put away his phone and stood in place, waiting for other butlers to take over.

"If it came to a fight, what would my chances be?"

Gotoh asked himself this question and soon concluded that while there was a chance, it was far less than fifty percent.

In such a situation, even if the odds were very low, he could not retreat. He had to fulfill his duties and responsibilities as a Zoldyck butler.

On the path leading to Kukuroo Mountain, Luo and Illumi walked side by side.

After walking for several minutes, Illumi kept his eyes straight ahead, remaining silent.

Although they were walking, their speed was faster than running.

The forest's density was less than that of Amarlo Jungle and Devil Island Forest, but it was still much denser than ordinary forests.

After walking for a while, Kukuroo Mountain's silhouette was still not in sight, as the high view was blocked by leaves.

Occasionally glancing at Illumi's side profile, Luo noticed that he seemed intent on staying silent until they met Maha.

"Is that pervert Hisoka still alive?" Luo suddenly asked, looking ahead.

Illumi's eyelids twitched slightly. He turned his head slightly, looking at Luo's side profile.

Given their respective positions and knowledge, it was a very odd question, but adding Luo into the mix, Illumi easily associated it with the Sky Arena incident.

At that time, his appearance, disguised by nen needles, was vastly different from his usual self. He had also deliberately chosen an outfit he hated and made many adjustments to his physique.

Most importantly, it was his first time using his nen ability after developing it, so no matter how much he thought about it, he was sure Luo wouldn't recognize him.

"Hisoka?" Illumi tilted his head slightly, his smooth black hair falling beside his ear, and asked seriously, "Who is that?"

"A pervert." Luo didn't mind Illumi playing dumb and smiled faintly.

"Oh."

Illumi nodded and looked back at the road ahead.

"So, is that pervert dead or not?" Luo continued to ask.

"I don't know any pervert named Hisoka, so I can't answer that question," Illumi said calmly.

The two of them exchanged comments about a pervert, and far away, Hisoka suddenly sneezed several times.

"I see." Luo paused and then asked, "How much do you Zoldycks charge for commissions?"

"It depends on the difficulty," Illumi replied quickly.

Luo nodded and asked, "How much to kill Hisoka?"

"Twenty billion," Illumi answered without hesitation.

"Oh~" Luo drew out the sound, then quietly looked at Illumi.

"…"

Feeling Luo's teasing gaze, Illumi's eyelids drooped, and he turned to meet Luo's eyes with a deadpan expression.

In dealing with Hisoka, Illumi had privately set a price for him. It wasn't a matter of bad taste; it was simply a matter of professional quality as a Zoldyck assassin.

Because he had set the price early and honed his skills over the years, his proficiency had become very high, so he answered instinctively when Luo asked.

In the end, he had been tricked.

First, he said the price depended on the difficulty, and then without thinking, he quoted a price for someone he supposedly didn't know. The truth was obvious.

"I suddenly remembered that among the people I know, there is indeed someone named Hisoka. Twenty billion is the price I set for him," Illumi tapped his temple with his index finger, looking like he had just remembered something.

Luo smiled and said, "If it's twenty billion, then the Hisoka we're talking about should be the same person."

"There's a possibility," Illumi nodded calmly and asked, "Do you want his life? Pay twenty billion, and I can take the job."

Luo shrugged and said, "Unfortunately, I don't have enough money."

"Then there's nothing I can do," Illumi said regretfully, seemingly disappointed about losing a business deal. In reality, he didn't want to take this commission.

"By the way," Luo smiled and asked, "can your disguise ability be used on others?"

Hearing Luo's question, Illumi suddenly stopped.

His nen ability was exposed?

Impossible. His first use was at the Sky Arena. Besides that, he had never used it in any formal occasion. How could Luo know?

Seeing Illumi stop abruptly, Luo took a few steps and stopped, turning back to look at Illumi.

"I haven't tried it yet," Illumi said, expressionless, as he held several pearl-headed needles between his fingers. "Maybe it can. Do you want to try?"

The atmosphere suddenly changed, with a hint of chill spreading around.

Illumi's tone was devoid of any emotion, and his black eyes were cold. Although he didn't show any killing intent, there was a dangerous aura.

If he agreed to try, Illumi would undoubtedly take the opportunity to kill him.

There was no need to consider the consequences; this guy would definitely do it.

Just mentioning the effect of the nen ability touched a nerve? He hadn't even explicitly brought up the Sky Arena incident.

Luo thought to himself, his face calm, as he smiled and said, "I've been afraid of needles since I was a child, so I'd better pass."

"Mm."

Illumi silently put away the needles, walked past Luo expressionlessly, and continued forward.

If Luo had agreed to try, he would have decisively killed him. After all, Luo knew too much about his nen ability.

This person knew a lot, Illumi was certain. If possible, he decided it was best not to have too much interaction with Luo.

After walking briskly for about half an hour, they exited the sea of trees and arrived at the foot of Kukuroo Mountain.

"No elevator?"

Seeing the lack of equipment at the foot of the mountain, Luo was surprised.

Illumi couldn't be bothered to explain. He leapt onto an outcropping rock several meters high and, like a kangaroo, used footholds to ascend to the top of the mountain.
