Chapter 323: The Final Remnants

As the last ray of light vanished from sight, slipping away from the palm, how could one describe that feeling?

That was despair.

Falling to the ground took five seconds, ten seconds, or fifteen seconds?

Dove’s mind went blank, despair growing and binding his thoughts, rendering him unable to discern the passage of time.

Even the last chance to turn around was gone; he plummeted to the ground like a meteor.

"Boom!"

With a loud crash, Dove's upper body smashed heavily into the soil, and his consciousness blurred instantly, with waves of pain filling the emptiness in his head.

The lizard also fell to the ground, split in half, but its strong vitality allowed it to continue struggling energetically after landing.

Netero stood still, watching everything that happened in less than a minute. He saw Luo change positions in mid-air, saw Luo slash the enemy in one stroke, and saw Dove and the lizard fall from the sky.

Finally, he saw the Surprise Box fall along with them, a nostalgic emotion rising within him. He thought about retrieving the Surprise Box, but a small figure moved faster than his thoughts.

“Luo’s Nen Beast…”

Netero halted his steps, quietly watching the black cat rush towards the Surprise Box.

He wanted to get the Surprise Box for a closer look, but seeing the black cat sprint towards it, he decided to temporarily put that idea aside.

Then, Luo also slowly descended, falling to the ground from a similar height, but he had a way to avoid the landing damage, unlike Dove who fell so miserably.

On the lake surface, the massive meatball remained still, and no trace of Void appeared after the waves calmed down.

Ignoring the situation in the lake, Luo walked straight towards Dove's upper body.

After falling from a great height, Dove's upper body was severely mutilated, and who knew where his lower half had fallen.

His barely open eyelids showed that not only had Dove not died instantly, but he also retained some consciousness.

Luo came to his side, crouched down, and stared at him.

Sensing Luo's gaze, Dove's eyes slowly moved, bringing Luo's blurry figure into view.

It was a gaze filled with extreme resentment.

Faced with this gaze that wished to flay and bone him, Luo remained indifferent. As his Nen power surged, his Domain expanded, enveloping Dove's upper body, then compressing part of the area, focusing on Dove’s head.

They stared at each other, neither speaking.

Luo’s eyes were calm but carried a hint of killing intent, while Dove’s eyes were filled with intense hatred and unrelenting anger.

A Nen user harboring such strong emotions at the moment of death would often leave behind a grudge, which would become food for Luo’s Nen power.

Compressing, compressing...

Dove felt it increasingly difficult to breathe, his head feeling as if squeezed by invisible hands. Without the protection of Nen, it would undoubtedly burst like a watermelon.

The oxygen available to breathe was almost nonexistent, making breathing futile.

This slow suffocation made Dove keenly feel death approaching step by step. In this slow march towards death, negative emotions kept pulling and growing.

Until the last bit of breathing strength completely vanished, Dove’s remaining half of the chest slowly calmed, silent.

The half-open eyes didn’t close, faintly showing lingering resentment.

Luo watched as Dove completely died before standing up and walking towards Netero.

They stared at each other, then Luo killed him.

Throughout the entire process, Luo remained silent, and Dove, seemingly too exhausted to speak, also said nothing after seeing Luo.

In that silent atmosphere, a life ended, and Luo felt much relieved.

He didn’t care about the massive deformed meatball or the potential threat Void posed to the human world. His reason for coming here with Netero was simple: to eliminate the old Seiren Squad and protect Sanbica’s side.

In the distance, the black cat picked up the Surprise Box, an item left behind by the Ghost Lady after her death. It fell from the sky but remained intact.

“Let’s hide it first.”

The black cat swallowed the Surprise Box in one gulp, looked around sneakily, then suddenly froze as it saw Luo staring quietly at him.

“You saw nothing, right?” The black cat forced down its awkwardness and said seriously.

Luo just curled his finger. He was initially walking towards Netero, but noticed the black cat’s actions, seeing it swallow a strange box that had fallen from Dove.

The black cat calmly approached Luo.

“Spit it out.” Luo said lightly.

The black cat’s face fell, and it opened its mouth to spit out the Surprise Box.

Luo glanced at the Surprise Box, then stuffed the True Master into the black cat’s mouth before picking up the Surprise Box. At that moment, the White Smoke Font provided the option to absorb it and listed the functions of the Surprise Box.

“Surprise Box…”

A strange light flashed in Luo’s eyes. Seeing the functions listed by the White Smoke Font, he immediately understood that the artificial beasts and the giant meatball in the lake were all products of the Surprise Box. So, he didn’t choose to absorb the Surprise Box immediately.

“You know about the Surprise Box?”

Suddenly, Netero’s voice came to Luo’s ears. He had heard Luo’s muttering.

Luo was taken aback. His attention had been on the White Smoke Font and he hadn’t noticed Netero. Mainly, the flow of Nen from Netero was incredibly quiet, to the extent that even using “Ten” in direct combat, one might not notice it.

Netero had called out the name of the Surprise Box immediately, meaning he recognized it.

Should he say he knew or didn’t know?

Thoughts raced through Luo’s mind, and he calmly replied, “I don’t know, but when I touched the box, the name naturally popped into my head.”

Half a lie, half-truth.

The White Smoke Font was an absolute secret, and no sign of it could be revealed.

Netero raised his eyelids. Just as he was about to ask Luo to show him the Surprise Box, the calm lake surface suddenly became turbulent again, with the massive meatball suddenly moving.

The sound from the lake drew Luo and Netero’s attention.

On the lake, numerous human limbs on the massive meatball’s surface were shaking at a rapid frequency.

Luo and Netero clearly saw black Nen flowing on the surface of the massive meatball, something that wasn’t visible before.

At the same time, countless corpses of creatures suddenly floated to the lake surface, covering it entirely in a short time. These were the creatures that lived in the lake.

The black Nen on the massive meatball was actually the grudge left by Dove after his death, while the floating corpses in the lake were Void’s doing.

The two anomalies happened simultaneously. Without a countermeasure, dense green smoke suddenly emerged from the lake bottom, spreading rapidly and covering the entire lake surface within moments, just like the floating corpses.

The massive meatball was shrouded in green smoke, but it didn’t seem to affect it, although this green smoke posed a fatal threat to living beings.

This was because the Zombie Mushrooms on Dove’s body had enhanced through death, stripping the massive meatball of its life attributes, rendering the poisonous smoke ineffective.

Everyone in the prison had died, and the members of the old Seiren Squad were also all dead, but there were still lingering troubles.

On the shore, Luo and Netero retreated without hesitation, turning and running towards where they came from.

The green smoke… was spreading quickly, threatening to engulf the entire island.

To Luo, no matter what storm the massive meatball and Void stirred, it had nothing to do with him.

If there was a chance, he would definitely go to that underground space, but if the situation didn’t allow it, he would temporarily leave the island with Sanbica and the others.

Looking back at the spreading green smoke, Luo’s expression was indifferent.

Netero also watched the green smoke and the massive meatball causing havoc within it, his brows slightly furrowed.

He came to the island and did virtually nothing, and the final remnants seemed unsolvable by sheer force.
