Chapter 294: Death

Because he had to wait for Sanbica Norton's nen to be completely depleted, Dove was willing to wait a few more hours to execute the plan.

Because of the extended wait, an intruder arrived, but Dove was confident he could kill the intruder on this ground and acquire Sanbica's abilities.

His confidence stemmed from the area affected by Sanbica's virus. By his estimation, it would take about an hour for Sanbica's nen to be fully depleted, causing the dark green restricted area to disappear.

With ample time at hand, let alone an hour, even five minutes were enough for him to command his teammates and artificial soldiers to thoroughly encircle and trap Luo.

However, what he never anticipated was that the intruder would ignore the deadly virus, lifting Sanbica and running off.

He was surprised, not because Luo had lifted Sanbica, but because Luo's body was nearly covered in the dark green virus, yet it seemed to have no effect on him.

"Bang bang!"

The black cat broke through wall after wall with its paws, taking shortcuts, and in no time, rushed out of the building with Luo and Sanbica.

At this point, the prison's personnel hadn't managed to form a surrounding net, allowing Luo and his companions to escape the building safely. However, it couldn't be said they were completely out of danger until they had climbed onto the back of a magical beast dragon.

Once they were outside the building and in the open, the black cat employed the same method to blast a hole under the thick surrounding wall, then ran to the wall's exterior with Luo, arriving at the edge of the island. A few more steps forward, and they were at the lake.

Luo took out a small musical instrument that resembled a large walnut, with rough patterns and small holes, along with a protruding mouthpiece for playing.

Putting the mouthpiece in his mouth, Luo took a deep breath and blew forcefully, yet no sound came out.

After blowing, Luo put the instrument back in his pocket, waiting for the magical beast dragon from the Zou Di Ke family to come pick them up.

From the unknown distance, suddenly came a beastly roar.

Hearing this, Luo felt a moment of calm, looked back at the broken wall of the prison, and knew without needing to sense carefully that the enemy was gathering.

Had it not been for the black cat devouring seventy percent of his nen, plus the need to quickly get Sanbica to treatment, Luo would never have chosen to retreat temporarily, but would have stayed to finish off the man in the white lab coat.

Dove was the first to emerge from the broken wall. He heard the beast's roar and noticed the dark shadow flying from the distant sky.

Within ten seconds of his emergence, twenty-one people in black uniforms also sprang out from the hole in the wall, all nen users, and at first glance, they did not appear weak.

Dove, in his white lab coat, stood out amidst the black uniforms, coldly watching Luo and the black cat at the lakeside. He did not believe they had a chance to escape.

At that moment, Luo took a deep look at the crowd, as if memorizing the faces of these twenty-two nen users.

After a sweeping glance, Luo stomped his foot and leaped into the lake with Sanbica in his arms.

The leap was like an arrowfish sprinting over the sea surface, plunging into the icy lake, causing only a few splashes and reaching several meters away in an instant.

Luo had practiced with Sanbica for a year, part of which was under strong underwater currents. This experience endowed Luo with an unusual affinity for water.

In fact, Luo's swimming skills had been good even in his previous life, but now they were even stronger.

Despite carrying Sanbica, Luo's speed in the water was still very fast, darting several meters in a second.

Seeing Luo jump directly into the lake, the black cat transformed back to the size of a house cat and followed him as a wisp of black smoke.

"There are giant poisonous jellyfish in the lake, those two are doomed," someone in the team coldly stated.

The sea lake around the prison island was teeming with a creature known as the giant poisonous jellyfish. Any living being falling into the lake was doomed without exception.

The giant poisonous jellyfish may have no interest in drowning creatures, yet their danger lay in accidentally harming people, easily taking lives with their potent venom.

The densely packed, long tentacles of the jellyfish would spread out in the water, and any creature's skin that touched the tentacles would be infected with the venom.

After the poison took effect, the first half hour was marked by weakness in the limbs and various symptoms of poisoning—this was the golden time for treatment

. Beyond half an hour, death was inevitable.

If the military wanted to produce biochemical agents based on toxins, the giant poisonous jellyfish were one of the materials, directly speaking, Devil Island had many materials suitable for making biochemical agents.

Because the lake was filled with a substantial number of poisonous jellyfish, that person was convinced that Luo and Sanbica were doomed.

"Should we pursue?" Eagle, holding a fan-shaped knife, asked Dove.

"If the poisonous jellyfish in the lake can't handle them, of course we must pursue," Dove said gravely. "That woman is crucial to our plan, we must retrieve her no matter what."

Everyone heard him and remained silent, waiting for Dove's command.

Just then, the sound of wings flapping came from within the prison wall, and ten tall figures flew out from it.

Shadows covered everyone present; they looked up to see ten flying-type magical beasts, also their artificial soldiers.

Of the 106 magical beast soldiers, only ten were of the flying type.

In the lake, Luo, holding Sanbica, swam like a fish towards the shore.

The lake water was exceptionally cold, and with the light coming from above the surface, one could clearly see the huge blue jellyfish with long, densely packed tentacles swaying nearby.

For any creature in the lake, this group of huge blue jellyfish was simply a disaster, but now, as Luo entered the water with Sanbica, the jellyfish faced their disaster.

The virus quietly spread, and one by one, the blue jellyfish in the water gently swayed and slowly sank to the bottom.

Just like that, Luo, without suffering any attacks from the water creatures, held Sanbica and swam towards the shore at the fastest speed.

His breath-holding time was very long, and before falling into the water, he used the ability of God's Hand to store a spherical air pocket over Sanbica's head. As long as he swam fast enough, he should not need to surface too many times.

The black cat did not enter the water, flying at high speed above the lake surface. He was not foolish; he chose a direction different from Luo's, hoping to mislead the pursuers.

On the island, Dove did not order the ten flying-type artificial soldiers to intercept at the shore but first commanded them to find the magical beast dragon heading towards the island.

This was his judgement, that by killing the magical beast dragon, he could cut off Luo's escape route from Devil Island.

Despite clearly understanding the importance of Sanbica, who was akin to an invincible bio-weapon, he could calmly watch as Luo disappeared with Sanbica above the water surface and make such a decision.

The ten flying-type artificial soldiers, under Dove's control, confronted the magical beast dragon, which was five to six times their size.

When Luo, soaked, climbed onto the land with Sanbica, he saw the Zou Di Ke family's magical beast dragon shedding a lot of blood and falling from the sky. With his eyesight, he could clearly see the ten flying beast types in the air.

That was… human heads on magical beast bodies.

"Bad…"

The magical beast dragon was dead, but Luo had no time to think about how to explain to the Zou Di Ke family. With a heavy heart, he made a split-second decision to dash towards the nearby dense forest.

The magical beast dragon was their reliance for leaving, and now it was gone…
