Chapter 283: Borrowing a Dragon

In the Republic of Padokea, atop the dormant volcano of Kukuroo Mountain, a spacecraft, emblazoned with the exclusive insignia of the Hunter Association, flew over the dense forest beneath.

The spacecraft moved across the forest towards Kukuroo Mountain and slowly landed on its peak.

This location was not only a dormant volcano but also the residence of the Zoldyck family.

Once the spacecraft landed, two individuals stepped out: Luo, dressed in black and still wearing white bandages on his hands, though his injuries seemed largely healed, suggesting his body had a good capacity for recovery; and Netero, who wore his age-old robe with its sleeves hanging long, his feet in wooden clogs.

The two walked towards a grand stone door, about three meters high, near the Zoldyck estate, adorned with the carvings of two Chinese dragons, symbolizing twin dragons playing with a pearl.

Luo gazed at the intricate carvings for a long time before his attention shifted to a white-haired, robust man standing by the door.

He recognized the man instantly.

"Silva, Kikyo's husband. Speaking of which, I wonder if Killua has been born yet, and little Gon..."

Luo thought to himself, then looked towards Netero. Their visit to the Zoldyck estate was for official business, but it required Netero's intervention.

He… needed to borrow a dragon from the Zoldyck family.

Silva greeted Netero with the respect due to a junior, appearing almost childlike in front of him.

"My great-grandfather has been expecting you," Silva said, using a respectful tone.

"Thank you for your trouble," Netero replied politely.

"Please, follow me."

Silva pushed open the massive doors, revealing the uniquely styled grand mansion seldom seen by outsiders.

Netero walked behind Silva, his arms hanging naturally, his sleeves fluttering with each step.

Luo followed silently; as an outsider, he felt it prudent to keep quiet during this visit.

He observed Silva's broad back, never imagining he would visit the Zoldyck estate under these circumstances and meet Killua's father.

However, having met both the chairman Netero and Maha before, this wasn't too unusual.

When Luo received the message that morning, just before dawn, he went directly to Netero, who was already up. He discussed the situation with Netero, who explained the details of the mission. Luo wanted to use a favor Netero owed him to borrow a spacecraft to go directly to Devil's Island.

However, Netero didn't want Luo to waste his favor as this was also a matter for the Hunter Association, which couldn't just stand by.

After assessing the travel challenges, Luo accompanied Netero to the Zoldyck estate.

Going to Devil's Island could only be done by sea, which would take too long. Flying there directly wasn't possible, and even the Association couldn't bypass the formal approvals needed to travel there.

Regardless of the approval, the review board would decide based on the reason for the application, whether to approve it immediately or reject it outright.

In short, obtaining legal clearance to land on the island involved a complicated process, and Luo was not in the mood to wait.

From Netero's perspective, he needed to first call Devil's Island prison as a representative of the Association to clarify the situation before coordinating with the officials in Ambo city for the next steps.

As an employee of the Association, he had to follow various rules and couldn't act recklessly.

But for Luo, none of this mattered. He wasn't part of the Association; his only concern was finding Sanbica on Devil's Island.

Led by Silva, Luo entered the vast but eerily quiet Zoldyck mansion.

Silva took them directly to Maha's room and left after bringing them there.

Before departing, Silva gave Luo a brief look, their eyes meeting momentarily before he walked out without turning back.

Silva wasn't sure of Luo's place between his great-grandfather and Netero or what their relationship entailed.

This was unrelated to Silva's task, and he soon stopped pondering it.

However, he did consider that Luo was now part of his world, and this interaction might serve as a reference for future dealings.

Luo watched Silva's retreating figure at the door and withdrew his gaze after a moment.

This man, a member of the Zoldyck family, possessed an unobtrusive strength that was evident without close scrutiny.

While Maha appeared very ordinary, with both his aura and Nen being subdued, Silva's presence was steady yet less concealed, presenting a clear sense of authority.

Maha's room was spacious, furnished minimally with wooden furniture that gave an air of antique charm. However, an old-fashioned television

and radio seemed out of place in this setting.

At that moment, Maha was watching a cartoon on the old television, seemingly amused.

Luo and Netero approached, and Maha turned to look at them briefly before calmly turning off the TV with the remote and gesturing for them to sit.

The antique table was set with two cups of hot tea and a plate of exquisite snacks.

"Is it urgent?" Maha asked calmly as they sat down.

He had returned from the Association only a few days ago and was surprised to receive a sudden call from Netero asking to borrow a dragon from his family.

Hearing Maha's question, Netero glanced at Luo and nodded, "We need to leave immediately."

Following Netero's gaze, Maha also looked at Luo but didn't inquire further, simply stating, "Finish your tea, and come with me."

With that, he slowly stood up.

Luo and Netero had just sat down but immediately took the tea cups and drank the tea in one gulp.

The three of them left the room and walked towards the estate's exterior.

Kukuroo Mountain, being a dormant volcano, housed the Zoldyck family's dragon at the crater.

Normally, the dragon was used to travel to any location as needed, but it was rarely utilized since the Zoldyck family's business was mainly concentrated on the Yorbian Continent and Kukuroo Island.

"If you find it troublesome, you can ask the Zoldyck family for help, I can offer you a discount," Maha said suddenly on the way.

Netero simply smiled and did not respond. This matter wasn't just about fighting; even if it were, there were hardly any situations he felt needed assistance.

Besides, the only person willing to operate outside the rules was Luo, and as the chairman of the Hunter Association, Netero had many matters he couldn't handle too overtly.

Being under the jurisdiction of the Five Great Nations, one inevitably loses some freedom.

The trio left the mansion and headed towards the volcanic crater.

As they moved farther away, a black-haired youth emerged from the mansion: Illumi.

He watched the direction Maha and the others were heading and pondered, touching his chin.

"How is he here? And what's his relationship with my great-grandfather?"
