Chapter 273: The Aura of Three Old Men

"Come quickly, there’s delicious food...?"

Luo, with his dead-fish eyes, silently stared at Bean, whose forehead soon beaded with sweat.

"Is that all the President said?" Luo asked.

Bean nodded, "Just that."

"I see."

Luo replied, then asked, "Bean, are you staying for dinner before you go?"

"Ah?" Bean was startled.

"If you're not staying for dinner, then you can go back and report immediately," Luo said.

Bean realized, "You...aren’t going?"

"Of course not, who would believe such a childish statement?" Luo complained.

That phrase was like... "Come quickly, there’s delicious food."

Bean gave an awkward smile upon hearing this, hesitated for a moment, and said, "The President might not be joking this time, there really is delicious food."

Luo was skeptical.

"Before coming here, I saw Linne Horsdoeuvre," Bean explained.

"Linne…?"

This very Chinese-sounding name left a deep impression on Luo; if he wasn’t mistaken, she was a regular judge at gourmet competitions and also one of the most senior gourmet hunters in the Hunter Association.

"I know her," Luo said to Bean.

"Then you shouldn’t have any doubts, right?" Bean said.

"Is the delicious food the President mentioned related to her?" Luo asked.

"Yes," Bean nodded.

"Should we leave now?" Luo changed his mind, since it involved the most senior gourmet hunter, he must go and see; perhaps there really was delicious food.

"If it’s convenient for you, it’s best to leave now," one of the orders Bean received emphasized speed.

"Okay."

Luo thought about notifying others via his phone after boarding the airship, and since he didn’t need to prepare anything, he could leave immediately.

Seeing Luo agree, Bean internally sighed with relief.

The two left the room and headed towards the elevator.

In the hallway, Machi approached them head-on. Upon seeing Luo and Bean, he immediately stopped and asked, "You’re going out?"

"Yes," Luo nodded.

"Where to?"

Luo glanced at Bean and said, "The President asked me to come over. I’ll be back in a few days."

Machi pursed her lips, without hesitation, and declared, "I want to come."

It wasn’t a question about whether she could come, but a direct statement of intent.

Hearing Machi’s words, Bean looked troubled, as the President had only invited Luo.

Luo also found it difficult but didn’t want to disappoint Machi. He looked at Bean and said, "I want to bring Machi."

"I’ll ask for permission first."

Reluctantly, Bean had to call the President, who quickly agreed, seemingly unconcerned.

Thus, the trio arrived at the rooftop and boarded the airship.

After boarding the airship, Luo sent a message to Buhara and others, informing them that he and Machi were going to the Association for a few days.

Two days later at noon, the airship arrived at the Hunter Association’s vast private airport. Although there were fewer than a thousand professional hunters in the Hunter Association, there were more than a hundred airships, so the airport was not small.

After reaching their destination, Bean led Luo and Machi into the Association building, filled with the ambiance of a modern office.

Luo was used to it, but Machi, likely encountering such a company-like environment for the first time, couldn’t stop her eyes from wandering everywhere.

Netero Isaac was waiting for them in a quiet room at the top level, and the building’s elevators didn’t go directly to the top level; they had to first go to the 42nd floor’s office area and then take a special elevator to the top.

As they approached the special elevator, Luo suddenly felt an unmistakable gaze. As they walked, he turned to look towards the source in the office area.

He saw a young blond man in an orange-striped suit, spinning a pen in his hand and openly scrutinizing Luo; even when Luo turned to look at him, he did not avert his eyes, maintaining a cheerfully gentle smile.

Pariston Hill?

Luo only glanced at him before decisively turning away, unwilling to look any longer at this man, while the gaze from Pariston Hill, like sunlight through a magnifying glass, continued to focus on Luo’s back.

In the world of Hunters, Nen users seemed to age very slowly unless they chose to change their appearance; a thirty-something could look barely different from their twenties.

Why was Pariston Hill noticing him?

"Anyway, I don't come often, never mind." Luo thought to himself and followed Bean into the elevator.

In the office area, Pariston Hill stopped twirling his pen and stared at the corner leading

 to the special elevator.

"Um..." In silence, Pariston Hill slowly retracted his smile, adopting a regretful expression that could chill one to the bone.

However, this expression did not last long; within a few seconds, it changed back to a gentle smile.

"Mr. Pariston Hill, I, I still have work to do," a shy female voice suddenly came from behind him.

Hearing this, Pariston Hill turned around and saw a young woman in uniform standing unsurely.

"Sorry, go ahead with your work."

Pariston Hill gracefully stood up, giving his seat to the uniformed woman, and then walked out of the office area.

Meanwhile, at the top level of the building in the quiet room, three old men sat around a low table in silence, among them Netero Isaac appeared relatively youthful, while the other two seemed almost ready to be buried.

If one were to analyze the differences, it might only relate to the speed and slowness of their movements.

The other two old men were both deeply skilled Nen users, one was Linne Horsdoeuvre, and the other was Maha Zoldyck, both old friends of Netero Isaac.

As the saying goes, old age renders one useless, but this phrase did not apply to these three old men; even in their twilight years, their strength was formidable.

For instance, if it came to a fight to the death, Luo against them would only result in an instant defeat.

"They’re here." Maha, dressed very casually, slightly opened his eyes, being in the assassination business made him highly sensitive to sounds, and he seemed to have heard something, hence the deduction.

"Let’s begin then, no need to be polite." Netero Isaac slowly put down his teacup, revealing a smile.

Linne Horsdoeuvre did not speak, but followed Netero Isaac’s request and released her aura.

For a moment, the three old men all released an aura that ordinary Nen users would find unbearable, extending it outside the quiet room.

Almost instantly, Machi, who was approaching the quiet room, reacted like a startled kitten, instinctively retreating a great distance.

Luo’s reaction wasn’t as exaggerated, but his face was solemn.

The moment the aura formed, Luo and Machi were the first to bear the brunt; additionally, Nen users within the building also felt it.
