Chapter 266: The Stake

The winning condition in volleyball is to make the ball uncatchable for the opponent, so when hitting the ball, there's no need to target the opponent directly; hitting to the left or right can increase the difficulty of the opponent catching the ball.

Netero's serve just now was aimed to the right of Luo, with a fast pace that only allowed Luo to catch it with one hand. If not for the domain ability, whether it could be caught easily was debatable.

However, Luo, poised to serve, didn't seem to plan on hitting it left or right.

"Youthful vigor, eh..."

Netero focused intently on the aura Luo was gathering; he could tell Luo intended to send the ball directly to him.

"Boom!"

With a low shout, Luo hammered the volleyball, sending it like a meteor straight towards Chairman Netero.

"Ho ho."

Netero gave the ball ample respect, not underestimating it and decisively caught it with both hands.

Sss sss...

The volleyball spun rapidly, whipping up a series of tight air currents, yet it calmly rested in Netero's hands, enveloped by a serene airflow.

One served, the other received; it looked like ordinary recreational volleyball, but both Luo's serve and Netero's reception were inseparable from the skill of using Nen.

The volleyball was ordinary, and even without using Nen, Luo could easily crush it, but during his serve, he gathered a significant amount of aura.

Maximizing the explosive force on the volleyball not only didn't destroy it but indeed transferred the force to it, requiring high skill in 'emission' and 'control'.

On the other hand, after catching the volleyball, Chairman Netero instantly split his aura into two parts, one gathered in his feet for anchoring, and the other wrapped around the volatile volleyball.

Before negating the powerful force, Netero's aura was always peaceful, as if unchanging even if the sky fell and the earth split, like a merciful hand, easily soothing the agitated volleyball.

"Not bad, the force."

After catching the ball calmly, Netero then picked it up and tossed it.

Luo said nothing, just glanced at Netero's position.

Staying put...

Although part of the aura had to protect the volleyball, that serve really did push the transfer of force to its limit, without wasting any aura, perhaps even Bisky after transforming wouldn't dare say she could catch it stably?

After all, it's Chairman Netero...

Luo shook his hands slightly, not feeling down even though such a full-force serve was caught so easily, because the opponent was Chairman Netero.

"Add a little stake? That would be more interesting." Suddenly, Netero stopped his tossing motion.

Indeed, a stake could add some motivation.

Luo nodded and said, "No problem."

Netero smiled and said, "If you win, I can give you a Hunter License right away."

"Don't want it." Luo blinked and decisively refused.

Netero's smile paused slightly, wondering if the appeal of a Hunter License had become so low nowadays?

"Choose another." Luo continued.

Having a Hunter License is indeed convenient, but if Luo wanted, he could always take the test whenever. Mainly, he didn't want to get the license because he wanted to participate in the test every year.

First, it's to increase his book pages, and second, to see the test locations. If it's a secret realm he hasn't visited before, he could always join in the fun; if it's a secret realm he has been to, then forget it.

Even if it could increase book pages, if the test location was already known, there wouldn't be any novelty.

"What do you want?" Netero asked.

Luo thought for a moment, temporarily unable to conclude.

Netero wasn't in a hurry, idly spinning the volleyball on his finger, his demeanor relaxed.

Luo thought for a moment, suddenly raised his eyelids, and extended a finger, saying, "An unrestricted request, how about that?"

"Okay." Netero agreed without hesitation.

Seeing Netero didn't hesitate, Luo was startled and said, "You're agreeing without limiting the scope of the request?"

"You won't win anyway."

Netero balanced the ball on his nose, twisting his upper body left and right, keeping the ball from falling.

"..."

Luo grimaced, feeling completely underestimated, but this was just right, if he won this game, he could get an unrestricted request from Chairman Netero.

"What stake would you want if you win?" Luo thought he was getting quite a bargain, of course, provided he won.

Netero gently tapped the ball, then held it with one hand, looking at Luo with a meaningful smile, saying

, "If I win, you have to accept the Hunter License I give you."

What the hell...

Luo was stunned.

"Any problem?" Chairman Netero smiled.

"This way, doesn't that mean I benefit whether I win or lose?" Luo came back to his senses.

Netero seemed puzzled and said, "Is that so?"

"Yes!" Luo couldn't help but complain!

"Then do you want the Hunter License?" Netero then asked.

"Not for now."

"Why?"

Luo suddenly paused, the reason, of course, was to participate in each Hunter Exam, which could increase book pages and was quite fun, but that reason wasn't something to say in front of Chairman Netero, was it?

He intended to blurt out something random, but facing Chairman Netero's calm gaze, he really couldn't start his bluff mode.

"How so, unwilling to say?" Chairman Netero asked with a smile.

Luo shook his head slightly, not intending to hide the reason, and answered, "I want to participate in every Hunter Exam; that's why I don't want the Hunter License for now."

"So, if I win, you'll have to accept the Hunter License, in other words..." Chairman Netero narrowed his eyes seriously, "you won't be able to participate in the Hunter Exams anymore."

He didn't delve into Luo's reason for wanting to participate in each Hunter Exam; one of his motives for coming here was to give Luo a Hunter License to make him a member of the Association as soon as possible.

Thinking, he rarely abused his power to give Luo a backdoor entry, but not only did he have to open the door, but he also had to push Luo through, feeling like the roles were reversed.

If he lost, he would have to forcibly accept the Hunter License...

Was there such an operation?

And as Chairman Netero said, if he accepted the Hunter License, he would become a member of the Association, and then he couldn't participate in the Hunter Exams anymore.

It seemed like he was getting the better deal, but upon closer thought, it also seemed a bit off.

"Are you serious?" Luo hesitated to ask.

"Of course." Netero held the ball, seriously said, "If that's settled, I'm going to serve!"

Luo was silent for a moment, then silently nodded.

Honestly, he didn't want to lose, and the stake for victory was too tempting.

The thought of an unrestricted request from Chairman Netero alone was incredibly motivating!
