Chapter 548: This is a Terrifying Magic, Just Like the Power of a God!

After securing a chance to escape for Raphael and others with two magic missiles, Lydia accelerated again, rushing towards the Night Demon Sado to prevent him from pursuing.

As she closed the distance to less than a kilometer, Lydia pressed the cannon firing button, and the cylindrical muzzles mounted on the wings of the plane immediately burst forth, unleashing a continuous barrage of bullets.

Mounting cannons on a supersonic fighter jet without hitting oneself had been a dilemma for Dennis for several months, but after real combat drills, Dennis realized he had been overthinking it.

Thanks to the high speed of the supersonic fighter, the bullets could easily exceed five times the speed of sound due to inertia. In comparison, the Night Demon's massive size was just a sitting target, and the armor-piercing bullets, further accelerated to five times the speed of sound, unleashed terrifying power!

Despite the legendary body being incredibly sturdy, it was still scored with deep gashes.

The Night Demon Sado, who had initially planned to pursue Raphael and others, was left in a ragged state after this series of attacks. Though the cannon fire barely breached the defense, it was highly insulting.

A series of enraged roars echoed continuously in the foreign skies, and the huge Night Demon's wings flapped vigorously, creating a fierce storm anew.

The speed of the storm was undoubtedly fast, but Lydia, piloting the supersonic fighter, dodged effortlessly.

The halfling girl undoubtedly pushed the speed advantage to its limits, piloting the supersonic fighter with the agility of a swift swallow, always maintaining a distance of one kilometer and constantly harassing the massive figure of the Night Demon.

The cannons were manageable, but the two missiles released earlier had left the Night Demon Sado extremely wary. He could feel the threat they posed, which was apparently the same kind of substance as the 'Chief Priestess of the Moon Goddess' had released earlier!

Under constant harassment by the fighter, the Night Demon Sado had no choice but to abandon the pursuit. Using the Soul Language, he commanded the griffins to continue chasing Raphael and the others, then prepared to teach this annoying little thing a lesson.

Storm Domain

The Night Demon Sado spread his wings wide, and as magical power surged, an invisible domain rapidly expanded into the distance.

Hundreds of thousands of screaming demons, specters, and various other undead flying beasts surrounded the area.

Their speed was not fast enough, but their numbers were greater, forming a surround from all directions. No matter which direction the fighter jet broke through, it would face an endless sea of undead!

Various unpleasant screams resonated continuously in the foreign skies, and the situation took a drastic turn for the worse, but Lydia was thrilled to the extreme. This edge-of-the-knife sensation intoxicated her.

Another round of cannon fire hit the Night Demon, and Lydia, pulling hard on the control stick to avoid a batwing slap, then plunged into the sea of undead.

Hundreds of screaming demons charged at the speeding fighter jet head-on.

"Ion Overload Mode activated!" Lydia shouted as she pressed a red button.

A dazzling thunder light immediately erupted on the graphene-coated surface of the plane, forming a conical ion layer around the exterior. Combined with the unmatched speed of the fighter, it was like an indestructible sword.

Even if these undead charged fearlessly, they couldn't stop the jet for a moment; as the plane sped past, only blood and remnants fluttered in the air!

This was a feature specifically designed by Dennis for close combat situations for the fighter jet during emergencies, inspired by Lynn's high-frequency vibration particle knife and still in the testing phase.

The supersonic fighter was extremely vulnerable at such speeds; sometimes, a mere bird could cause a catastrophic crash.

Therefore, Lydia dared not directly crash into the Night Demon Sado. However, dealing with these screaming demons was quite convenient as long as the speed was fast enough, these obstructing undead would be split in half in an instant.

The only downside was that it required a considerable amount of energy.

After just one round trip, a fifth of the energy was gone. Lydia quickly calculated that, excluding the energy needed to fly back, this state could only be maintained for a maximum of three minutes!

It seemed necessary to quickly resolve the battle, Lydia thought to herself, as there were only four missiles left on the fighter, and the cannon was almost out of ammo.

To inflict significant damage on the opponent, at least three missiles needed to hit.

However, the opponent had the ability to unleash large-scale storm avoidance; even being enveloped in a wind wall, long-range releases would only be prematurely detonated, thus failing to achieve a good effect.

Just as Lydia was pondering this, the energy consumption of the fighter suddenly surged as the Night Demon Sado's storm domain was completed!

An entire two-kilometer area covered by the domain saw the elements in the void go berserk, brewing a fierce storm.

The elements surged into hurricanes, and the wind quickly turned into sharp killing weapons, indiscriminately attacking everything nearby, including the screaming demons and other flying beasts within it, with tens of thousands of undead being sucked into the storm and torn to shreds.

Lydia, also within the storm, was greatly affected; the fighter shook under the impact of the violent winds.

Even though Dennis had installed wind-resistant magic on the shell, it couldn't withstand such a terrifying storm.

And those torn apart undead swelled in form rapidly, thanks to the undead magic Corpse Explosion Technique!

Using tens of thousands of undead as a price, everything nearby could be wiped out in an instant!

The Night Demon Sado planned to use this large-scale technique to crush that annoyingly fast creature into oblivion.

But before the Corpse Explosion Technique was fully activated, a brilliantly bright light lit up from behind. Previously, someone had sneak-attacked with a laser beam, nearly cutting the Night Demon Sado in half. Now, extremely sensitive to such light, he was scared into a shudder, and the Corpse Explosion Technique stopped.

And the light did not diminish but instead grew brighter, almost turning the entire area into daylight...

A strong sense of crisis arose in his heart, and the Night Demon Sado couldn't help but turn his head for a look, everything within sight was engulfed by the bright light. Moreover, a terrifying nuclear shockwave was rapidly spreading this way!

It wouldn't be long before this area was swallowed up too!

Faced with a nuclear explosion that threatened life, the Night Demon Sado made the same decision as Valroc: run at full speed!

And it was in the same direction as Raphael and others were escaping. Even under such a perilous situation, the Night Demon Sado didn't forget his mission.

As for turning back to rescue? Better skip that... Even if the great lich Cecil died, he would just get a new boss. As long as he completed the mission, the Lord of the Undead wouldn't blame him.

Lydia on the fighter was also affected by the bright light, but she was prepared and wore goggles in advance. Although her vision was still greatly limited, luckily her target was large, standing out in the endless glow like a huge target.

So Lydia came up with a bold idea: to leave this flying giant behind!

Able to fly at supersonic speeds, she was much faster than the spread of the nuclear shockwave and wasn't worried about being swallowed by the explosion. Besides, the fighter also used full magical power, so there was no need to worry about losing control due to nuclear radiation exposure.

With this in mind, Lydia immediately took action, no longer conserving ammunition, firing the remaining hundreds of aerial bombs.

The chain of barrage reappeared, but under the influence of the storm, the effect was minimal, with barely one in ten hitting the target!

And Lydia had already brought the fighter's speed to its limit, charging towards the huge Night Demon. The four Mach rings in the tail flame of the plane behind her were remarkably conspicuous.

"Get out of the way!" the Night Demon Sado roared, his huge batwing heavily slapping towards the approaching fighter.

Lydia, fully focused, relied on the fighter's high speed and the plasma shield enveloping the outside to cut through the storm, skillfully dodging this strike at a very close distance, nearly brushing against the edge of the Night Demon's wing.

Then Lydia seized the opportunity to fire all four missiles, at such a close distance, there was no chance of missing. The first hit the Night Demon's left shoulder blade, while the remaining three struck his chest and abdomen.

Along with the explosion's roar rose the sinister flames of immortality, a fire that could devour all elements and steal electrons, which instantly adhered to the Night Demon's flesh.

The intense flames almost instantly covered most of his body.

For Sado, a legendary undead creature, ordinary flames were not a concern, but these undying flames were different. He could clearly feel his flesh burning, bones melting, and blood dissolving...

The huge Night Demon fell from the sky, amid angry roars, swept up by the nuclear shockwave.

Lydia didn't dare to stay any longer because the shockwave had already caught up to the fighter's tail. Just a few seconds later, and she would have been company for the Night Demon.

On the other hand, Raphael and others were also within the range of the nuclear explosion, but they successfully awaited the arrival of reinforcements and boarded the rescuing airship.

The speed of the nuclear shockwave slowed as the radius expanded, and being three kilometers away from the explosion's epicenter, they could escape by airship without a problem.

"Truly terrifying magic, this is just like the power of a god!" the halfling Kama, standing on the edge of the airship, squinted his eyes and stared at the giant mushroom cloud rising in the distance, his voice filled with awe.

In fact, had Raphael not anticipated this and used the little magic he had left to set up barriers around the airship to shield against radiation and intense light, his eyes would have been blinded by now!

Such terrifying magic, capable of boiling seas and burning mountains, was completely beyond Kama's understanding. In his heart, perhaps only the god continually mentioned by the High Priestess possessed such formidable power.

"To be precise, this should be the power of the sun!" Raphael said with a smile, unfazed as this was not his first time witnessing a nuclear explosion.

Moreover, although Skyfall is a powerful legendary spell, he had heard from several council members that only being within a few hundred meters of the nuclear epicenter could guarantee the death of a legend.

But for beings lesser than legends, this was undoubtedly a devastating blow. Raphael felt that if he were in the middle of the explosion, even a kilometer away from the epicenter, he wouldn't have had any chance of surviving.

"The sun?" Kama mused, gazing at the strong light erupting among the mountains.

He then recalled what Yulande had told him about the rescue, that the creature restraining the powerful monster was an alchemical creation called a fighter jet, and its pilot was also a halfling like himself.

"Look, it seems we've arrived!" a male wizard in the group suddenly exclaimed excitedly, pointing ahead. The valley ahead was where the portal to the magic kingdom was located!

Everyone was somewhat exhilarated at the prospect of returning to the magic kingdom. They had been in the foreign land for a total of three months; the first month and a half was relatively fine, involving scouting around and subduing a halfling settlement. But the last month and a half was torturous, constantly living in danger, even needing to sleep with one eye open.

Now, it was finally over!

The airship traveled at full speed, quickly crossing the protective barrier and being swallowed by the surging portal. In the moment before departure, Raphael had already seen the tail flame of the fighter jet, speeding towards them.

Good, it seems Lydia is also safe... Raphael felt relieved, then was swept into the temporal vortex.

...

The nuclear explosion continued for over an hour before finally ceasing, turning the spreading mountains into scorched earth. Valroc, the Winter Dragon, crawled out from the radiated and dusty ground, his right side battered and torn, devoid of extra magic for repairs.

As for Cecil and Kholerain, the land where they were located was left with nothing.

Valroc was glad that the two legends had shielded him; otherwise, he would have been the one directly hit.

However, having lost two legends, their side had utterly lost face, and the Lord of the Undead was bound to be furious. Fortunately, Valroc quickly thought that the commander was Cecil, and what did that have to do with him?

The skeletal dragon's heart eased, then suddenly the space beside him began rippling.

Valroc recognized this as long-distance teleportation.

Was the great Lord of the Undead already aware of the losses here, and had he sent a new commander?

Valroc thought this as he saw a necromancer emerge from the teleportation, a stranger in appearance, but he felt a familiar presence from him.

"Cecil? You're still alive?" Valroc said in surprise.

"Damn... Damn Moon God, damn Moon Priestess, I'll pull your soul out and burn it in the lowest, most fragile skeleton!" Cecil roared in anger, furious that if his life-box hadn't been placed elsewhere, he might have been dead.

Even so, he could only temporarily use a necromancer's body, significantly reducing his strength.

Cecil gave Valroc a cold look, and as they were about to blame each other, they simultaneously shut their mouths because a terrifying pressure suddenly filled the sky above the mountain range.

The Lord of the Undead had arrived!
