Chapter 233: Point Knockdown System

The odds were overwhelmingly one-sided, demonstrating that the audience ultimately judged based on the size disparity.

In the battle footage that was just played, both Luo and Buhara had swiftly defeated their opponents, giving the audience the same impression, so everyone favored the stronger and heavier Buhara.

“It seems everyone has more confidence in Mr. Buhara who has a clear advantage in size. Before the match starts, let me introduce the rules,” said the commentator, pinching the microphone attached to her headset between her thumb and index finger, with a spring breeze-like smile.

“The victory rule is a point knockdown system. Whoever scores ten points first or successfully knocks out their opponent wins the match.”

“There are three ways to score points. The first is a good attack that hits the opponent, earning one point. The second is an excellent attack that not only hits but also knocks down the opponent, earning two points. The third is for knocking down the opponent, which earns one point.”

The commentator's voice was clear and structured, filling the entire venue.

The matches in the Heavens Arena were all under this point knockdown system, including the biennial Combat Olympics.

In duels, players usually prefer the first two scoring methods, but some specialize in the third scoring method, using judo and wrestling techniques. They score by knocking down their opponent rather than through effective strikes.

This specialized skill set in the third scoring method, although not as directly brutal, can still be visually appealing, so it is favored by the audience.

However, this method is also seen by other contestants as a “sneaky score!”

On the arena, life and death were not protected by the organizers, and it was common for one contestant to be seriously injured or killed. Therefore, the role of the referee was to try and minimize these incidents.

A skilled referee would adjust the scoring pace based on the disparity in strength between the two sides, to end the match more quickly and ensure the weaker party does not get killed during an extended match time.

On the stage, the referee stood between Luo and Buhara, arms outstretched facing each.

On the giant screen above, clear images from the arena were displayed, showing Luo and Buhara's relaxed expressions and the referee's usual solemn demeanor.

The referee looked at both and asked, “Ready?”

Luo and Buhara nodded and then looked at each other.

Seeing this, the referee took a few steps back and then raised his fist.

At the commentary booth, the commentator saw the referee's signal and exclaimed with excitement, “The contestants are ready, let the match begin!”

With the last shout, a wave of cheers erupted from the audience, filled with various shouts and noises.

“Boss, here I come!”

Buhara moved first, charging at Luo like a tank. He had no aura leaking out, indicating he was in a state of Zetsu.

Luo, having been trained by Biscuit in the Heart Source style of boxing, chose to fight with pure physical fitness and combat skills instead of using Nen, following Buhara’s compliant nature to his suggestion.

As Buhara approached, Luo slightly sidestepped, knees bent slightly, left fist extended, right fist tucked at the chest.

The right hand was stronger but kept at the chest as a rear guard, while the weaker left hand was extended as the lead. This starting pose of the Heart Source style was more like a counterattacking method.

The commentator, not familiar with the Heart Source style, commented, “Mr. Buhara takes the initiative with an aggressive approach towards Mr. Luo, but Mr. Luo calmly assumes a stance!”

Buhara’s long arms swung at Luo’s side, tearing through the air.

This was his customary slap, unleashed with full force as Luo had requested no holding back. So even if Buhara was reluctant, he would comply if Luo demanded it.

With the absence of Nen to aid him, Buhara’s dynamic vision was significantly diminished, but Luo was accustomed to fierce attacks from his sparring with Biscuit.

Indeed, it was fast and fierce, but compared to the violent Biscuit, it was still lacking!

He quickly ducked to avoid Buhara’s palm, kneeling slightly, then tried to rush into Buhara’s embrace to strike, but Buhara’s empty hand came back, aiming a backhand strike at Luo’s temple.

There were two ways to win: steadily scoring ten points or knocking out the opponent, with striking the temple or the back of the neck being the best methods for a knockout.

As Luo’s momentum surged forward, he caught Buhara’s heavy strike with his left hand, seizing Buhara’s wrist while his weaker body remained as stable as a mountain.

This scene drew gasps of amazement from the audience, like a huge bear striking a palm at a young man who steadied it effortlessly.

Eh?” Buhara looked surprised, knowing his strengths were his appetite and power, but the steady force from Luo made him realize Luo was not weak either.

As Luo seized Buhara’s wrist, his expression calm, his right hand shot out, grasping Buhara’s elbow, and then he yanked it backward sharply.

Buhara’s bulky body suddenly stepped forward, his clumsy movements causing his body to lean as if he was about to fall.

“Oh! Mr. Luo has seized Mr. Buhara’s arm and… executed an over-the-shoulder throw!” the commentator said in a shocked tone.

Luo pulled Buhara’s arm, hurling him through the air.

Buhara’s sheer size was an advantage, but it was also a drawback, especially without using Nen, making this flaw more pronounced.

As Luo tossed Buhara out, the referee watched intently and did not immediately announce a score, believing Luo might continue the attack.

Sure enough, Luo advanced a few steps, turned sideways, and an elbow struck the still mid-air Buhara’s abdomen.

“Bang!”

The sound of the hit seemed to drown out the noise in the venue for a moment.

Buhara grunted, his landing destabilized by the elbow strike, and he spun off to the side before hitting the ground hard, showing a slight grimace of pain.

The referee, seeing this, raised his hand in a scissor gesture, shouting, “An excellent attack!”

“Mr. Luo takes the lead with a brilliant counterattack, scoring two points against Mr. Buhara, who took the initiative!” the commentator shouted.

In the stands, those who had bet on Luo burst into loud cheers.

The referee quickly approached Buhara to check on him, but before he could speak, Buhara stood up, wiping a trace of blood from the corner of his mouth, seemingly unbothered.

“Buhara, I said not to hold back,” Luo resumed his initial stance.

Buhara chuckled and replied, “I didn’t hold back, but it was actually you, Boss, who didn’t use your full strength just now!”

Luo smiled slightly at this comment; indeed, he had held back with that elbow, and Buhara had sensed it. In a battle without Nen, lacking the aura to judge effort, it’s hard to tell if someone is giving their all.

This showed Buhara’s keen sense of power, as he had likely gauged Luo’s maximum strength from the moment Luo caught his arm.
