Chapter 520: Set a Small Goal, Start with 500 Nukes!

"Don't be too arrogant, Victorio. We don't yet know the situation on the other side of the space-time portal, but one can imagine that the Moon Goddess Diana didn't come here without a reason!" Harof said gravely.

Aurora nodded in agreement, "Where there's a Moon Goddess, there could well be other gods, and certainly a hierarchy of ascension."

Victorio paused, clearly understanding this logic, but was reluctant to believe it because if what the crow had said was all true, then the world beyond the space-time portal might be far more dangerous than they imagined.

Just dealing with a pseudo-god like Aila, whose divine system they had dismantled, was already challenging enough. How terrifying then would the master of the undead, who reportedly commanded an army of hundreds of millions of undead, be?

"So, you're suggesting we collaborate with this crow?" Victorio asked, frowning.

"Of course not. Based solely on its word, we would have to accept its command and control—that's impossible!" Lynn shook his head, then spoke again. "The so-called God of Life and Creation might not truly wish to help us. Remember what the Star Messengers said about the main world capturing dimensions..."

According to the black crow, these gods captured dimensions to transform them into divine realms.

What exactly a divine realm was, and how to transform it, they were still unclear about, but Lynn suspected it might involve turning the entire world into their own domain.

If the Lord of Death was planning such a thing, then might the God of Life and Creation harbor the same intentions? Perhaps the price would be for them to offer up their faith or even their entire world.

They couldn't agree to either possibility!

"It looks like we must send someone through the space-time portal again to check the situation on the other side," Harof said with concern.

They had thought that sealing the space-time nodes with magic would prevent enemy invasions, but it seems this could only serve as a warning.

Thus, sending people inside again was imperative, at least to verify whether the crow's claims were true or false.

"But the people we sent before have all gone missing without a trace, even your and Lynn's avatars lost contact instantly," Aurora sighed, "If it weren't for Aila diving in directly, I'd suspect it might be a one-way portal from that side."

"Is it possible that we used the wrong door!" Lynn speculated. "Some doors lead to relatively dangerous areas, others to calmer ones."

Victorio's eyes brightened at the possibility. The council had explored space-time portals located in the Land of Wizards, which often spat out dangerous and powerful magical beasts.

The door through which Lynn and Harof sent avatars might have been intercepted by Aila, but other nodes might not be so perilous, like the one in front of them...

This black crow, barely a pseudo-legend, had managed to come through; perhaps they could make it too.

Though they thought this, no one was in a rush to act.

This matter required careful planning; they needed a thorough plan and select the right personnel. Otherwise, they might not obtain the information needed and might inadvertently give away their intelligence...

"What should we do with this crow?" Aurora glanced at the enclosed cage in Lynn's hands.

The creature had brought them a lot of critical information, which should warrant some favorable treatment.

However, it constantly demanded their 'submission' and 'command,' and its origins were still unverified. To some extent, it was a major nuisance.

"Let me watch over it for now. It talks a lot; let's see if we can extract more information," Lynn pondered aloud.

Aurora nodded. This crow was linked to a mysterious and powerful god. Killing it was definitely not an option as it could provoke a formidable enemy, nor could they ignore it and let it wander this world. Lynn was willing to take on the trouble, which was for the best.

After Victorio added several layers of protection to the space-time node, Lynn and the others waited a while longer. Seeing no further activity, they returned to the capital together.

At the moment in the capital, due to the sudden absence of several chairpersons, a grand medal award ceremony had to be hastily concluded.

However, foreseeing this, the council members did not leave by train but stayed in the city.

Sure enough, upon Harof's return, he immediately convened the Wizard Council.

All five hundred council members quickly gathered in the council chamber, with Raphael and others impatiently inquiring about the whereabouts of the chairpersons.

"It's the space-time door in the Steel City of Seltoden that malfunctioned," Harof stated succinctly.

"Is it that pseudo-god coming back again?" Raphael immediately tensed up, having participated in the Battle of the Holy City, he knew well how Aila had been chased by several chairpersons and escaped through the

 space-time portal.

"That's not it," Harof shook his head, but before the others could relax, he continued. "The news we've received might be even worse!"

Lynn, Aurora, and Victorio each spoke, outlining the events, though they omitted details about the main world, as that was too shocking and could easily cause panic.

"So, our world is being targeted by another god? That Lord of the Undead?" Alade was astonished, while Raphael asked a more critical question. "How powerful is he compared to Aila?"

"We're not sure yet, but I think Aila probably can't compare to him," Harof shook his head.

Aila had spent centuries orchestrating his church and plotting across the continent to reach beyond the realm of legend, to replace the Moon Goddess Diana.

But the Lord of the Undead, Danathus, was a god!

Just this fact alone made him a far greater threat than any enemy they had faced before.

"According to that Star Messenger, his divine realm spans multiple worlds, and he commands an army of undead numbering in the billions..." Victorio added.

The thought of a divine realm spanning multiple worlds and an undead army numbering in the billions sent shivers down the spines of the council members present.

To know that the entire empire's population totaled only twenty million, and even with a full mobilization, the number of soldiers they could recruit wouldn't exceed one million, training them was another huge issue.

Facing an undead army hundreds of times larger and of unknown strength seemed unrealistic.

"Everyone, there's no need to worry too much. Didn't the church and that pseudo-god Aila, who were ten times, a hundred times stronger than us, end up fleeing in disarray in the end?" Aurora reassured them. "The enemy this time is indeed more formidable, but we also possess all the resources of this continent. We're not without chances!"

Aurora's words calmed the anxious wizards, especially those veteran council members from the Land of Wizards, who strongly agreed.

Initially, the population of the Land of Wizards was only a few hundred thousand, and their territory was just a broken island, nothing compared to Aila's church. But in just three or four years, the balance of power had reversed.

Having experienced such a miraculous counter-offensive once, their fear and trepidation toward the unknown enemy beyond the space-time portal had lessened significantly, and they began to consider ways to deal with the Lord of the Undead.

"It's impossible to eliminate such a vast undead army through conventional means, but unconventional methods might just do the trick," Raphael paused, then turned to Lynn.

"Like the 【Skyfall】 developed by Chairperson Lynn, which obliterated a ten-kilometer radius in one strike. If used properly, it could instantly wipe out tens, even hundreds of thousands of undead!"

Upon hearing this, the wizards present lit up.

Harof and the others nodded. While 【Skyfall】 was somewhat lacking against legendary enemies, with only those in the very center of the blast suffering significant damage, its lethality against those below the legendary level was absolutely terrifying!

No matter how many enemies there were, they would be instantly submerged in a 'sunbath.'

Most importantly, this powerful legendary magic could be used with nuclear fuel, meaning it didn't have to be cast by a legendary wizard, thus making large-scale deployment possible.

"Before that Lord of the Undead finds and invades this world, we have at least three hundred, no, five hundred nuclear fuel reserves ready for 【Skyfall】!" Harof declared decisively.

With each 【Skyfall】 capable of annihilating a hundred thousand undead, five hundred would be enough to wipe out all enemies below the legendary level!

If possible, Harof even wanted to cleanse the world beyond the space-time portal!

The only issue was that casting one 【Skyfall】 required at least fifteen kilograms of uranium-235. Five hundred would need seven and a half tons of nuclear fuel reserves!

Considering the ore contains only 0.7 percent uranium, it would take digging up a thousand tons of uranium ore, possibly emptying an entire uranium mine, and there definitely wouldn't be enough time.

"The raw material issue might be resolved by substituting with tritium and deuterium elements!" Victorio suggested.

Using fusion bombs was safer and more powerful than fission bombs.

And water was everywhere; if they could optimize the extraction magic circle to significantly increase its efficiency, producing enough material for hundreds of hydrogen bomb spells might not be entirely impossible.

"Then you take responsibility for improving the extraction circle, Chairperson Victorio. Make it the highest priority task. No matter how much manpower it requires, by any means necessary, we must increase our nuclear reserves as much as possible, the more the better. This is currently our most important and powerful asset!" Harof stated solemnly.

Hearing this, a group of wizards skilled in thunder magic merely smiled wryly. They had thought that

after the war with the empire ended, they could finally stop the tedious daily extraction of materials from water. It seems those days were set to continue for a while.

Last time, Lake Eris suffered; this time, who knows which lakes would be dried up...

However, for the other council members who didn't need to perform these boring tasks, five hundred nuclear reserves were simply not enough. Some even believed it was best to have a thousand or more nuclear reserves to ensure they could completely annihilate their enemies.

"One is not enough, then ten; ten not enough, then a hundred... As long as the yield is large enough, we can always send that Lord of the Undead to hell," a grand wizard stated emphatically.

He believed there was no enemy that 【Skyfall】 couldn't solve; if there was, it was definitely because there weren't enough, the yield wasn't large enough!

Seeing many council members getting caught up in the fervor of nuclear cleansing, Lynn shook his head, unable to resist speaking out.

"We better not put all our hopes on a single spell. Our opponent is a god, and they might not lack the power to counter this magic. It's equally important to enhance our conventional strength."

For example, after he had deployed the grand nuclear spell and 【End-Annihilation: Atomic Breath】, the church had immediately prepared and came up with countermeasures, and Aila developed a method to resist this spell using force field magic.

So, in his view, nuclear bombs should not be launched lightly. They must choose an appropriate moment to eliminate as many enemies as possible in one go, giving the opponent little time to react!

"Correct, aside from increasing our nuclear fuel reserves, we also need to quickly boost the council's high-end combat power," Aurora nodded, not blinded by the immense nuclear power.

Even if 【Skyfall】 was as powerful as it was, it still couldn't match the agility of a living legend.

In the past few months, the tritium and deuterium extracted had already amounted to enough for four people to ascend!

It was just because of the order of ascension that they had been delaying, and now that the academic conference had ended, it was time to prepare for the next round of legendary ascensions.

Anthony, Raphael, Alade, and Sanchez, twenty level-six grand wizards, were particularly excited, continuously emphasizing their great achievements for the Wizard Council during the meeting, vying for those precious four ascension spots.

After much discussion, the chosen four were Anthony and Jeffrey, both recipients of the Silver Moon Medal, and two grand wizards who had made significant contributions during the war with the empire!

Raphael was extremely disappointed, being the fifth in line based on merit, he just missed this round of ascensions, consoling himself that as long as Chairperson Victorio could successfully improve the method of extracting nuclear fuel, it would only be a matter or one or two more months before his turn came!

"We also need to accelerate the mass production of wizards," Lynn added, referring to the establishment of the magic network, which was as crucial as preparing for war.
