Chapter 139: Contradictions

Chickens flying and dogs jumping?

Such a sudden statement successfully shifted the topic and attention.

"What does that mean?" The first to question was Feitan.

"Literally." Luo replied indifferently.

Feitan immediately showed displeasure, while the others looked puzzled.

"Is it related to the Elder?" Chrollo asked.

Luo raised an eyebrow, then nodded: "Yes, tomorrow is his death day."

He made no attempt to hide it, stating it openly among the group.

Tomorrow would be the Elder's death day, a decision made by Luo. On this trip back, both Wogret and the Elder were on his hit list.

This statement made those familiar with Luo aware of the changes in him after his departure.

"What do you plan to do?" Chrollo's response was rather cold, as if the discussion about life and death concerned only an insignificant stranger.

Luo wanted to know the Troupe's stance, so he replied, "Go directly to the Elder's house tomorrow morning, finish it, and leave."

His answer was concise and devoid of any planning.

Upon hearing this, Chrollo remained silent. The Elder's Nen was one of the abilities he aimed to steal. If Luo intended to kill the Elder, the condition would not be met.

Feitan and Franklin, who knew little about Luo, frowned upon hearing his audacious statement.

Meteor Street is governed by four Elders, who are not adversaries among themselves. Should there be an external threat, they would unite to defend against it.

Meaning, although Luo intended to target only one Elder, the outcome would likely provoke retaliation from the entire Meteor Street, potentially trapping them there.

"Count me in." Uvogin raised his hand, carelessly speaking.

Nobunaga lifted his thumb, slightly pushing the hilt of his sword, producing a faint sound of unsheathing, then said in a deep voice, "Me too."

After Uvogin and Nobunaga stated their positions, Machi didn't fall behind, adding, "And me."

Luo slowly stood up, took a few steps, then turned back to look at Machi and the others with a smile. However, his expression froze upon Machi's next words.

"We'll help you kill the Elder, but you have to join the Troupe," Machi stared at Luo, not missing any chance to recruit him into the Troupe.

Luo smiled bitterly; he hadn't planned on asking for their help and certainly couldn't agree. After all, Meteor Street was their homeland, and siding with him against the Elder would make them enemies of Meteor Street.

Regardless of their sense of belonging, home is irreplaceable.

Hearing Machi's words, Uvogin and Nobunaga exchanged looks, revealing an 'I see' expression.

"Are you serious?" This was the first thing Pakunoda said upon arriving at the house.

"Of course." Uvogin replied casually, "Wasn't this decided before?"

"But Luo isn't dead," Pakunoda wasn't worried about herself but about the consequences this decision might have on the entire Troupe. After learning Luo was alive, she opposed the decision.

The reason the Troupe hadn't left Meteor Street immediately was precisely because of the disagreement over dealing with the Elder.

"I'm not involved, so I won't participate," Feitan suddenly declared.

As soon as he finished, Franklin added, "I'm with Feitan, not participating."

They were among the dissenters. After all, they bore no grudge against the Elder, and being from Meteor Street themselves, it was unreasonable to kill the Elder for someone they didn't know.

Luo remained silent, observing the Troupe members.

Six people took a stand—three in support, three against, leaving Chrollo.

This matter required no help from anyone, and Luo wouldn't ask Machi and the others for help, but it was necessary to know their stance.

Thinking this, Luo turned to the silent Chrollo.

Noticing Luo's gaze, Chrollo calmly asked, "Do you need my help?"

Without a clear position, just a question, as if saying he'd help if needed.

But it felt like he knew Luo didn't need help, hence his wording.

When Chrollo also took a neutral stance, Luo smiled and said, "I appreciate it. This is my matter; no need for your intervention. However, many might die in Meteor Street tomorrow. Any issues with that?"

Luo's goal was to steal the true owner and kill the Elder, but the Elder's subordinates would surely retalitate, inevitably leading to deaths.

Luo, who had undergone transformation, now viewed life differently.

Uvogin, Nobunaga, and Machi were momentarily stunned, then Feitan glared at Luo with a piercing look.

"Aren't you afraid I'll snitch?"

"Oh, would you?" Luo looked at Feitan, seriously asking.

Feitan

's lips curved, coldly saying, "Who knows."

"Then there's no helping it. Before this matter ends, you'll have to take a nap," Luo smiled.

"Try me." Feitan also smiled, his eyes curving maliciously.

The atmosphere in the living room changed with their conversation.

"Sanbica, it's unnecessary," Luo suddenly said something that confused everyone else.

Sanbica paused, lowering her slightly raised hand, puzzled, "He just said he wanted to try."

Luo said, "I know, but I want to do it my way."

"Oh," Sanbica nodded.

Their conversation drew attention from everyone present, then their expressions changed, sensing the surge of Luo's aura.

After speaking, Luo unleashed his aura to its maximum, instantly creating a tangible pressure, aggressively targeting Feitan.

Feeling Luo's aura fluctuation, Feitan, like a startled animal, swiftly stood and leapt backwards, keenly creating distance, then watched Luo with a serious look.

Simultaneously, he activated his Ren, with aura bursting out and covering his body, yet still inferior to Luo's.

"He's not weak. Without my sword, I'd be at a disadvantage," Feitan's sharp eyes revealed a coldness, his reflexive action quicker than his consciousness.

The standoff immediately shifted the room's atmosphere.

This signified two opposing stances within the group.

"Feitan won't snitch."

At that moment, Chrollo confidently declared, melting away the tension like the summer sun on ice.

The key dispute was about snitching. Since there was no concern, the standoff was unnecessary.

"Tch." Feitan was the first to withdraw his aura, Chrollo's words also addressed to him. He wouldn't snitch, but Luo's arrogance irritated him, prompting his opposition.

Seeing Feitan retract his aura, Luo also withdrew his Ren, smiling, "Actually, whether he snitches or not doesn't affect me. If I was worried about that, I wouldn't have discussed this matter with you."

Feitan frowned upon hearing this, Luo's words making him seem like a fool.

"Feitan, you're not going to snitch, right?" Uvogin asked.

Feitan didn't bother to respond; his immediate retraction of aura after Chrollo spoke was the most honest answer.

Although Nobunaga and Machi remained silent, if Feitan were to snitch, it wouldn't end there.

Pakunoda sighed softly, while Franklin remained expressionless, his first impression of Luo not particularly positive.

"Alright, wait a bit longer, Buddha Jumps Over the Wall will be ready soon. That's not something you can just eat whenever you want," Luo clapped his hands, ending this minor episode.

As his voice fell, Feitan dropped a "Not interested" and headed for the door.

Everyone watched him leave, no one spoke to retain him, nor did they question him again about snitching.
