Chapter 122: The Real Gap

An aura influenced by emotions or willpower can usually have a significant impact on ordinary people. Theoretically, using one's aura to overpower another's consciousness can even lead to death without laying a finger on them.

If both individuals are Nen users, unless there's a huge disparity in strength, it's difficult for the aura to have any effect.

Of course, if the strength gap is sufficiently large, the stronger party can use their aura to make the weaker party mentally envision being defeated without even moving.

For instance, by throwing a punch, even though the fist doesn't connect, the targeted person might imagine their face being smashed by the punch, or they could be so terrified by the aura that they lose all will to fight, leaving an indelible shadow in their mind.

That said, achieving this is easier said than done.

Most Nen users understand this, so they typically only use their aura against ordinary people.

Dafei has been exposed to Nen abilities for ten years now, considers his foundation solid, and his strength not lacking. Using his aura is second nature to him, making him above average in the Hunter Association.

However... like Luo using his aura to stun ordinary people, Dafei admits he can't do it. If he were to deploy his aura, at most, he could make people with weaker wills wet their pants, far from achieving such a domineering effect.

Suddenly, Dafei thinks of Luo's age, feeling a chill from the bottom of his heart to his forehead, quickly disappearing, leaving him slightly shivered.

"Are you kidding... How old is this kid?"

Dafei is initially shocked by the scene before him, then by recalling Luo's age, he finds it unbelievable.

Had it been a notable figure within the Hunter Association, it would be one thing, but Luo isn't even of age... Not to mention maintaining Ten with such solidity at such a young age, but his use of aura is defying heaven?

"Has there ever been such an abnormal candidate in the history of Hunter exams? Should I report this to the chairman?" Dafei is unsettled by the abilities Luo has displayed.

He originally thought Luo was just above the standard level of a Nen user, but now it seems, even he might not be able to defeat Luo.

However, the truth is that Dafei overestimated Luo, which is understandable, as the aura effects created by Luo gave him the illusion of being very powerful.

The nature of "God's Hand," which can dominate life, subtly influences Luo. This is key to his profound use of aura, and in terms of real skill level, he might not necessarily beat Dafei.

The gap between them lies in combat experience and the most crucial physical condition.

Luo's Nen abilities improved so quickly mainly due to the effects brought about by the "white smoke" characters, which certainly benefitted him greatly and allowed his aura to grow too fast, making him overly dependent on Nen while neglecting physical conditioning.

In Meteor Street, Luo's use of aura to overpower Uvogin's strength further solidified this concept, leading him to misguide himself unconsciously. The subsequent use of aura to achieve many things made him even more addicted to it.

Unless Luo faces a setback or finds a good mentor to change this concept, he might continue down this path.

Dafei values both physical and Nen training. Before mastering Nen, he paid great attention to physical training, and after acquiring Nen, he focused even more because Netero, the chairman, is his goal.

This means, should a fight actually happen, Dafei could likely rely on his physical condition to gain the upper hand.

Of course, without actual contact, Dafei believes Luo to be a terrifying Nen user.

As Dafei's thoughts were racing, the ten or so people not stunned by the aura were knocked out by Buhara with a single punch.

Not being stunned on the spot means these individuals have commendable willpower, but they were still affected by the aura, leaving them with a deep-seated fear of Luo and easily taken down by Buhara without a fight.

"Hope the test isn't about combat."

Seeing this overwhelming scene, the bystander candidates silently hoped, whether Buhara or Luo, they didn't want to encounter either of them.

Good thing they brought enough provisions...

Without provisions, they might have ended up as one of the unlucky ones passed out on the ground, unwilling to re-enter the dense forest.

For a moment, the two hundred-plus candidates cast sympathetic glances at the unfortunate ones on the ground.

As night falls, the candidates lying on the ground are ignored, and Dafei pays them no mind.

Since they decided to rob others, they must bear the consequences. Plus, the area is safe; if dangerous beasts approach, he wouldn't just stand by.

Buhara went into the forest to gather firewood, soon

returning with a big pile of logs and branches he broke off trees, thanks to Luo's ability to remove moisture.

Finding dry firewood would be difficult given the climate of Amarlo.

Although the candidates with provisions didn't need to hunt in the forest, they still needed to make a fire for warmth. So, they ventured into the forest but not deep, barely gathering some dry branches and leaves before running out.

Soon after, the night enveloped the land, with many fires dotting the ground, bringing warmth and illuminating the area.

The hunters who went hunting earlier gradually returned, some successful in their hunt for game, while others managed to find fruits and mushrooms, though some returned empty-handed.

Among the returnees were new candidates arriving at the test location at this time.

Both the returning and new candidates were surprised by the people lying on the ground, unaware of what happened but unconcerned.

The candidates who returned empty-handed were puzzled, especially after seeing others with wild fruits and mushrooms, they were even more perplexed.

Those who returned with game prepared to start fires to cook, skinning their catches for direct roasting. Considering the murky waters of the Amarlo River, washing them by the shore was dangerous.

Those who acted immediately after Dafei's speech and successfully hunted showed promising potential.

The candidates who gathered wild fruits and mushrooms also did well, showing a clear understanding of their own strengths.

Mixed feelings prevailed among the candidates, fortunately, the test starts at noon tomorrow. As long as they don't get too hungry, they can go into the forest for breakfast in the morning.

"There are many bats in the cave, vulnerable to fire, quite easy to deal with. Those who didn't find food can try their luck there," Dafei timely suggested.

With the candidate count exceeding a thousand and at least half without food, although they can forage in the morning, being hungry tonight would still have an impact.

Hearing Dafei's advice, the candidates without food immediately grabbed burning sticks and headed for the cave.

Soon, a group of candidates emerged from the cave with bats in hand, instantly clearing the gloomy atmosphere.

Clusters of flames irregularly scattered on the ground, resembling an alternative starry sky, as over a thousand candidates started a massive barbecue party!

Before long, the smell of burning wafted through the air, followed by a rich aroma overpowering the burnt smell, reaching every candidate's nose.

"Smells good!"

The candidates sniffed the air, following the scent to see a whole pig roasting to a golden crisp.

Dafei, distinguishing the pleasant smell from the many unpleasant ones, unhesitantly approached where the aroma originated, Luo's side.

"This is dinner for two." Seeing Dafei approaching, Luo said seriously.

Not only was his intention seen through, but he was also decisively rejected, leaving Dafei feeling awkward... For readers interested in more, you can search for the website to find this book immediately.
