Chapter 117: BBQ

A scene beyond his comprehension assaulted his eyes, delivering an incomparable shock, violently trembling his heart.

The Land Spider Crab's legs, thrusting with the force that could rival a bullet and the power to pierce through steel, were somehow caught so effortlessly, and by a mere boy at that.

Tonpa's mouth agape, he watched the spectacle unfold before him, and then, as he saw Luo forcefully topple the Land Spider Crab, towering above the trees, to the ground, he was utterly dumbfounded.

The Land Spider Crab, as if struck by an invisible fist, its house-sized body suddenly tilted to one side and then crashed heavily to the ground.

"Boom!"

The fall crushed a large swath of trees, the sound startling a multitude of birds and beasts.

The loud noise traveled far, startling other examinees nearby, who felt a slight tremor through the ground, unaware of what had transpired.

In the distance, atop a peculiarly shaped red rocky mountain, a muscular man, seeing this scene, whistled appreciatively.

The legs of the Land Spider Crab, resembling the trunks of arrow bamboo trees and even taller than the dense forest's large trees, supported the spider crab's body above the intertwining canopy of the forest sea.

If one were to stand at a high point, they could see many Land Spider Crabs stationary above the area of the arrow bamboo forest.

The muscular man standing on top of the rocky mountain was at a height where he could see the spider crabs.

"Judging by the way it fell, it wasn't the legs that were cut off but sheer brute force that toppled the Land Spider Crab. Looks like a formidable character, wonder if he's one of this year's examinees."

The muscular man wore a short-sleeved t-shirt and tight boxer shorts, exposing most of his body to the air—a suicidal act in the dense forest.

Because the Amarlo Jungle is home to numerous poisonous creatures, like those inconspicuous insects that could cause trouble with just one bite.

Having the fortune to witness this live broadcast, Tonpa could responsibly answer: the one who toppled the spider crab was not just an examinee, but a young boy.

From the moment the spider crab's body hit the ground, Tonpa deeply realized one thing: it's fine to mess with anyone, just don't mess with Luo.

This impactful scene thoroughly scared the veteran trickster used to taking down rookies and made him recognize the difference between Luo and the other examinees.

【Absolutely do not provoke!】

This phrase deeply embedded itself in Tonpa's mind.

The terrifying aspect of the Land Spider Crab might be its body structure, similar to regular spiders, its body isn't large, but once it spreads its legs, it appears much bigger.

Ignoring the limbs that could reach over twenty meters in length, the spider crab's torso was about the size of a small apartment.

After toppling the spider crab, Luo and Buhara went over to check. They saw the fierce-looking spider crab continuously leaking pale green blood, already dead beyond dead.

"Do you still want to eat it?" Luo, looking at the spider crab in front of him, immediately lost his appetite, thinking it was purely a spider, what does it have to do with crabs?

"Eat, of course." Buhara replied without hesitation.

Luo then looked at Buhara with undisguised admiration.

Upon touching the spider crab, related information had already flooded into his mind.

The spider crab was a non-toxic creature, classified as a D-grade ingredient. Although large, the edible parts were few, only a piece of meat inside the abdominal shell and the scarce meat in the limbs.

Although rated as a D-grade ingredient, gourmet hunters rarely targeted spider crabs, the reason being the scant amount of meat.

The rating of ingredients involves various standards, primarily focusing on taste.

Being rated as a D-grade ingredient doesn't mean the spider crab's danger level is D-grade, but that its taste merits the D-grade standard.

Certainly, the difficulty of acquisition and the creature's danger level are also comprehensive standards in the rating, but for a single ingredient, the standard is more inclined towards taste.

Tonpa came over to join Luo, by then, he had completely given up on any thoughts against Luo, marking him as someone absolutely not to provoke.

The edible parts of the spider crab were few. After some persuasion from Luo, Buhara gave up the idea of eating the whole spider crab, originally thinking the entire creature was edible, only to find out it was just a small piece of meat.

Thus, Luo cut off one of its legs, peeled away the hard shell, extracted the meat inside, and then started a fire right there.

Whether it was shelling and deboning, or removing moisture from branches and leaves, it could all be easily done with a pair of hands.

Skillfully using God's Hand, one could accomplish many things, truly a must-have ability for both home and travel.

After igniting the fire, Luo skewered the spider crab meat on sticks and hung them over the fire to roast.

The diameter of the Land Spider Crab's long limbs was quite thick, but once the shell was pried open, the meat inside was about the thickness of crab meat strips, and its color was slightly yellow.

Luo only skewered one stick, while Buhara, that guy, skewered over a dozen, placing them all over the fire without considering whether the heat was distributed evenly.

"You two..."

Tonpa, observing the pair's barbecue in the midst of the dangerous Amarlo Jungle, was dumbfounded once again. This wasn't a place for a picnic or camping!

Looking around at the dense forest, a fierce beast could jump out at any moment. In such an environment, they actually wanted to BBQ?

"Buhara, give one of the skewers to Mr. Tonpa later." Luo took out two types of spices he had obtained from Amaru Village, evenly sprinkled them on the pale yellow "crab meat strips," and upon being roasted by the flames, a rich aroma immediately wafted through the air.

"Alright then." Buhara seemed reluctant but agreed nonetheless.

Tonpa's face twitched, not knowing what to say.

Luo and Buhara's actions constantly challenged his understanding.

The spider crab meat, albeit rated as D-grade, should still increase some values after being consumed. Even if the increase was minimal, it was better than nothing.

Even if it was just casually roasted, Luo treated it seriously. In contrast, Buhara, with his dozen sticks of meat squeezed together, only thought about cooking them through.

Sss...

The fragmented spices dried out, embedding on the surface of the pale yellow meat strips and creating little burnt bubbles, resembling the scorched spots on the surface of an egg tart, exceptionally pleasing to the eye.

After roasting for about four or five minutes, Luo picked up a crab meat strip, lightly blew away the heat, and pushed the meat strip into his mouth, chewing while exhaling hot air.

The taste delivered to his taste buds was polarizing, on one side was the flavor of the spices, and on the other was the sweetness of the crab meat strip. The two flavors seemed to have a poor compatibility, unable to blend together.

Despite this, the taste was still pretty good, though it fell short when compared to pork liver, after all, it was just a D-grade ingredient.

After swallowing the crab meat strip, Luo checked the data, and as expected, it only increased by a minimal 0.1%.

Buhara, however, enjoyed his meal immensely, and even Tonpa, who was fortunate enough to receive a skewer, exclaimed it was delicious after eating.

After the barbecue, the three continued along the river, occasionally hearing screams from some direction, mostly people who had unfortunately fallen into natural traps.

Not only could screams be heard in the forest, but cries also came from the direction of the river, presumably from those traveling by water encountering something.

Having the Amarlo River as a landmark prevented them from getting lost. After walking for half an hour, a giant spider web appeared in front of them, hanging with dozens of silk-wrapped cocoons.

Upon closer inspection, these were humans tightly bound by spider silk, only their noses and above visible.

Upon noticing Luo and the others, these people hanging on the spider web seemed to be alive, casting pleading looks towards them, unable to move at all.

It wasn't just the spider silk that bound them tightly; their bodies were injected with toxins.

Perhaps they hadn't realized one problem: even if Luo and his companions saved them, without an antidote serum, death was inevitable.
