Chapter 57: Mutual Restraint

After the battle fraught with peril came to an end, Luo decapitated Hisoka and then turned around to leave without any hesitation.

Hisoka's head had fallen, but from the moment it dropped to the moment Luo turned away, he remained calm and composed, yet overly excited—a reaction not befitting someone who has stepped into the realm of death.

Watching Luo's figure completely disappear, the corners of Hisoka's mouth slowly retracted, and a hint of regret appeared in his eyes.

"Did I not act well enough? And I couldn't control my excitement~"

Hisoka slowly suppressed his excitement. The head that was on the ground mysteriously rose into the air and flew towards the motionless body, attaching itself precisely.

"Or is it because... he noticed?"

After reattaching, Hisoka placed his left hand over his face, and his recently calmed emotions loosened again, his breathing gradually becoming more rapid.

He thought of the words Luo said as he was leaving, tilting his head slightly to look at his right foot coming towards him at a grinding speed.

"What an interesting use of Nen, restraining mine while being restrained by mine. It seems he also knows this."

The severed body parts still maintained a connection with the brain, capable of using Nen and following the brain's commands to move accordingly.

The opportunity to prove this came when Luo restrained his right foot, and he made the toes move.

It wasn't just a random movement, but one in a specific sequence.

The first round of movement started with the big toe, moving from left to right, ending with the pinky toe, and then, the movements in the second round were irregular.

The result of the test was that, despite the right foot being severed and at a distance, there was no delay between the brain's commands and the movements.

This result decreased the threat level of Luo's ability somewhat.

From this point on... Hisoka was analyzing Luo's ability, looking for a way to defeat him.

"That book that appeared out of thin air, is it a Conjuration ability? But this kind of Nen that can dismember the body without causing fatal injuries obviously doesn't relate to Conjuration."

Hisoka crouched down, looking at his right foot slowly crawling towards him, as if watching a child returning home.

"It's dismemberment, but not fatal, and it doesn't hurt or bleed."

"Such a pity for this kindness."

"This is Meteor Street."

Hisoka, seemingly losing patience, used Bungee Gum to pull the right foot back from a distance and then attached it to the bottom of his right leg.

"Even though I've found the key to victory, but..."

Hisoka turned around, walking in the direction Luo had left.

"In the end, I will die."

"His decisive departure must be due to some concerns. Next time, let's have a fight without any worries!"

This was the conclusion Hisoka came to after pondering, because his use of Bungee Gum hadn't reached the 'freely' level yet, unable to shoot it from any part of his body.

That is to say, if he were to trouble Luo again, the basic condition is to refine the use of Bungee Gum to that extent, which isn't something that can be done in a short time.

"However, the effects of this Nen will disappear, right~?"

As he walked, Hisoka suddenly twisted his neck and then forcefully threw his head back, watching as his head soared upwards to a height of six or seven meters before stopping its momentum and briefly hovering in mid-air.

Bungee Gum... retract!

Then, the body on the ground, as if attracted by a magnetic force, flew upwards at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour, attaching to Hisoka's head.

Using this bizarre method, Hisoka came into the sky and then fell straight down.

"If it doesn't disappear, wouldn't I become a monster."

After landing, Hisoka slightly frowned and rubbed his forehead.

If Luo were here, he would surely quip: "You're already a monster."

God's Hand, when separating body parts, has the fatal flaw of causing no harm, and the absence of pain is another deadly shortcoming.

Once Hisoka became familiar with the abilities of God's Hand, he could devise countermeasures based on these factors.

If body parts are separated individually, certain restrictions can be achieved, but this is ineffective against Hisoka, as he can always use Bungee Gum to stick them back together.

Luo's God's Hand can easily sever Bungee Gum, but Bungee Gum can easily reattach the separated body parts.

In a sense, this is mutual restraint, as well as mutual destruction.

If Hisoka realizes this, he wouldn't need to fear Luo's God's Hand. Instead, he could use more parts of his body as bait for counterattacks.

The absence of pain is a factor that suits Hisoka's tactics well. For instance, when an arm is severed, he doesn't feel pain, so his nerve responses are not affected.

In such moments, he can instantly control his hand from a distance using Bungee Gum.

"Such a troublesome guy."

Luo looked up, eyeing the church ahead. Passing by this place and walking a bit further west, he could head home.

He was confident in defeating Hisoka, but it wouldn't be easy. Considering the trip to the Southern Piece Auction House the day after tomorrow, getting seriously injured would be problematic.

Taking these points into consideration, he decisively turned around to leave, also considering that decapitating Hisoka would at least impart a certain level of awareness.

This was akin to sending a message to Hisoka: Do you understand the gravity now? If you do, better behave yourself.

Fifteen minutes later, Luo arrived at Machi's place.

He knocked on the door, and almost instantaneously, the door swung open.

The speed of the door opening was so fast that Luo hadn't even had the chance to lower his knocking hand.

"Come in."

Machi, seeing Luo, breathed a sigh of relief and stepped aside.

"That's some unique door-opening speed."

After a light tease, Luo walked into the room and headed straight for the bed, lying down without another word.

The day's training battle, the tension when facing the elders, and the fight with Hisoka after leaving—Luo was quite exhausted from the day's events.

Machi closed the door and hopped onto the hammock, sitting and looking at Luo, asking, "Haven't fully resolved the last matter?"

"No."

Luo turned his head towards Machi.

"Why then?" Machi continued to inquire.

"The money's almost gone, right? The Elder Council gave me a mission with a reward of five million Jenny." Luo smiled slightly, not wanting to explain too much, mentioning the mission and reward was simple and clear enough.

Machi's eyebrows raised immediately, asking, "Is the mission dangerous?"

Her first question wasn't about the mission's details or the five million Jenny, but whether the mission was dangerous.

Luo responded, "There's definitely danger, but it shouldn't be a problem. Just wait for me to bring back the five million Jenny. How about this, if any of you can beat me then, I'll give a reward of one million Jenny, how's that?"

"Not very good."

Machi bluntly rebutted, then flopped onto the hammock.

"Sleep."
