Chapter 478 Lynn: Nuclear Fusion, This is the Burial Ground Prepared Especially for You!

"What sun?"

Seeing Monroe standing still like a madman, Ivina also lifted her head in surprise, and then she too froze in place.

In the distance, within a vast underground plaza, stood a towering 'altar', and above the altar was a huge plasma ball that was continuously swirling and rotating...

A multitude of golden runes circled around the sphere, greedily absorbing the light and heat emanating from within the plasma ball.

It was like a sun bound by magic!

Other than shock, nothing could describe Ivina's feelings at the moment.

Earlier, she found it strange that this underground space had no magic lamps and yet was as bright as daylight. Now she understood... The guards were not lying after all; the wizards had created a star with magic and imprisoned it beneath this city...

"Impossible, this must be a wizard's magic... An illusion!" Monroe could not believe the miraculous scene before him was real, and hurried forward, wanting to dispel the illusion, but he didn't notice the alchemy runes engraved on the floor tiles beneath his feet faintly lighting up.

"Monroe, watch out!" Ivina, snapping out of her shock, urgently warned.

But it was already too late. Chains of runes flashing with golden light burst out from the ground, ensnaring Monroe's legs tightly.

"Iron Sandstorm!"

The next moment, Raphael's voice echoed throughout the vast underground plaza, and countless sharp iron thorns materialized out of thin air, rushing down like locusts and arrows under the influence of a strong magnetic field, directly targeting Monroe and Ivina.

Each thorn was like a small railgun, and although their power was far less, their sheer number made up for everything!

Fortunately, Monroe reacted in time, firmly clutching a cube in his hand and whispering a protective spell quickly and accurately.

An invisible shield immediately materialized in front of them, forming a semi-circular dome that sheltered both Monroe and Ivina within.

This was the protective divine magic—Indestructible Shield!

"Bang, bang, bang…"

Countless iron thorns, propelled by electromagnetic force, continuously struck the shield, emitting a series of muffled thuds that were almost teeth-gritting, and the divine illusion protecting them started to fade.

Inside, Monroe broke out in a cold sweat as the sharp thorns, just a dozen centimeters away from his skull, made the invisible shield ripple like water, as if it could burst at any moment!

However, the alchemical device made by Cynthia herself was reliable, and the Indestructible Shield, true to its name, blocked the advanced magic [Electromagnetic-Iron Sandstorm].

Monroe couldn't muster any joy, as a large number of wizards and guards had already gathered around, forming an encircling stance, and his legs were still tightly bound by rune chains.

The power of sacred objects was unquestionable, but their weakness was also evident—they required manual control to unleash their power.

"Where is Alade? Where did he run off to? How could someone break in?" Raphael, quite annoyed, pushed aside several guards and questioned them.

The importance of the fusion reactor was self-evident, usually guarded by two grand wizards, with the outer defenses being Alade's responsibility!

"Master Alade heard that the manor outside was attacked by a large group of demons and has gone to support!" One of the male wizards hurriedly reported.

Raphael frowned, displeased with Alade's dereliction of duty, clearly a diversionary tactic by the enemy.

However, after calming down, Raphael was also aware that even if Alade had been stationed outside, it would have been difficult to catch the intruders.

All the detection magic they had set up had failed to notice any sign of intrusion, only here, in the core region of the Sun Furnace, did the protective magic personally set and reinforced by Speaker Victorio after his ascension, manage to expose the intruder.

Only the power of legends could contend with legends!

"No wonder they could sneak in here, looks like two traitors…" Raphael turned his head and recognized Monroe and Ivina.

Although he had not met them before, he had seen their civil service exam papers, especially Ivina's explanation of kingdom laws, which left a deep impression on him.

Raphael hadn't expected that they would betray their wizard identities, or perhaps they had been undercover agents sent by the Church from the beginning!

Even able to easily block his full-strength strike with a unique alchemical creation!

"Since you're here, then stay!" Raphael sneered, not believing that their 'turtle shell' protection could last indefinitely.

Surrounded by people, Monroe's expression was quite unpleasant, the only consolation being that there was only one grand wizard present, giving him a chance of victory...

Ivina also drew her long sword, trusting more in the blade in her hand than in the magic she had just

 learned.

"Elemental Torrent!"

Raphael spared no effort, immediately employing a fifth-circle spell.

The elements in the void, as if guided by something, violently collided and rolled towards the two.

At the same moment, one side of the cube in Monroe's hand burst into dazzling light, casting [Divine Strike] in a desperate effort...

The two powerful spells intertwined and collided, exploding into a strong shockwave...

Followed by an even more intense explosion sound that suddenly erupted in the underground space...

However, this was not the sound of spells colliding, because the noise came from above their heads!

The next moment, under everyone's astonished and confused gazes, the ceiling above violently burst open!

Large amounts of rubble, bricks, and steel bars fell from above.

"Get out of the way, everyone!" Raphael shouted, then looked at Monroe in bewilderment; the entire underground space was specially reinforced, and even under the attack of sixth-circle magic, its overall structure should have remained stable.

It shouldn't have collapsed in the aftermath of the magic just now...

Raphael quickly understood why.

Because along with the falling stones, several all too familiar figures also fell!

"It's Master Lynn and the esteemed councilors!"

The wizards on the scene shouted excitedly.

"Cynthia Your Highness!" Monroe, as if seeing a savior, excitedly spoke out.

However, they soon realized that the few people who had fallen, looked only miserable, whether it was Harof, Aurora, or Lynn, all had unavoidably suffered heavy injuries in the aftermath of the legendary spell collision.

Of course, Cynthia was no better off, with half of her face, scattered by the light beam, not yet fully healed, with a massive amount of energy being transformed into flesh and blood to continuously repair the wound, looking particularly horrifying.

In fact, it wasn't just Raphael and others who were dumbfounded; Harof and Aurora were also shocked by Lynn's sudden action of breaking through the underground layer. They all knew what was beneath the City of Fire Oil, but didn't understand why Lynn wanted to lead the enemy here.

Cynthia, also among those who fell, was undoubtedly the most shocked, the 'mini-sun' hanging in the air was too dazzling to ignore, its immense energy making her feel intense unease.

It also stirred the deepest fear in her heart.

Months ago, just like today, she fell into a trap set by the wizards during the pursuit, and the scene before her now was a vivid reenactment of that experience.

At this moment, while everyone was distracted, surprised, and confused, Lynn had already quickly taken the center of the magic array, raising his hand to activate the fusion reactor, declaring in an undeniable tone.

"Accept your judgment, Aila! This is the burial ground specially prepared for you!"

As his words fell, the plasma ball suspended in mid-air suddenly contracted inward under the influence of a strong magnetic field, and then dozens of terrifying laser beams shot out from the sky, the ground, and the walls around, bombarding the 'mini-sun' within the floating reactor!

Or rather, the helium element inside, formed by the fusion of tritium and deuterium in a plasma state!

Originally, under the constraint of a strong magnetic field, the volume of the plasma state had shrunk to one-third of its size, but it suddenly expanded violently again, its intense high temperature seeming to split the void, and the instant burst of bright light obscured the vision of everyone present.

Ripple after ripple spread from top to bottom, the powerful energy wave visibly expanding outwards at a speed visible to the naked eye, quickly activating all the arrays covering the entire underground space...

【Wall of Sighs】

Cynthia didn't hesitate to activate the strongest protective magic this body could muster.

A golden wall, glowing with divine light, stood horizontally within this underground space.

Yet even so, Cynthia still felt insecure, ceaselessly enhancing herself with various powerful divine protections, having witnessed the power of a hydrogen bomb, she dared not underestimate the power of the giant sun above!

Hundreds of thousands of energy storage runes were filled within just three seconds, then a massive amount of light and heat energy was simultaneously released, but the target was not Cynthia, but Lynn at the center of the magic array!

Almost within a second, Lynn's body was disintegrated and decayed under the rush of energy.

The group of wizards, blinded by the bright light and tearing up, were dumbfounded. Did Master Lynn just commit suicide?

Monroe and Ivina were also stunned, unclear about the situation.

Only those alchemists who had witnessed Victorio's ascension to legend could vaguely guess what Lynn was doing.

Harof and Aurora also widened their eyes.

They could certainly see Lynn's intention; the power of the saintess was too strong, unable to use [Skyfall] within the City of Fire Oil, so they had to use legend to counter legend!

But where did this ascension energy come from?

Wasn't it said that tritium and deuterium elements were already running out?

Could it be that someone secretly hoarded a large amount of nuclear fuel, planning to ascend to legend first in private, but where could such a vast amount of tritium and deuterium be hidden?

Harof didn't know that the fusion occurring this time was not of hydrogen isotopes, but of helium elements produced by their fusion!

First, hydrogen was fused into helium, then through extremely high pressure and temperatures in the billions, three helium nuclei were combined into one carbon nucleus, a process of secondary nuclear fusion that occurs within stars!

Long before Victorio's ascension ceremony, Lynn had already noticed this new energy source gradually accumulating inside the fusion furnace, but due to the difficulty and risks of secondary fusion, he hadn't easily spoken out.

Now, however, it had come to a point where they had no choice but to go all out!

With words and the fusion reactor as a threat, Lynn successfully bought time to activate the ascension ceremony!

A continuous stream of energy was extracted from the raging plasma state, and if not for Victorio reinforcing the core array after ascending to legend, the guiding runes would have exploded long ago.

Lynn's body had completely disappeared from the platform, leaving only a soul at the boundary between illusion and reality, receiving the tidal wave of energy emerging from all directions.

【Shaping—Reconstruction of the Shell!】

At the moment his body was completely destroyed, Lynn activated this magic, drawing a massive amount of magical power from tens of thousands of magic crystals placed beneath the ground.

A heart slowly appeared in the void, followed by interconnected blood vessels... With Victorio's experience in ascending, Lynn naturally wouldn't take a detour again, very clear about the order of constructing the body.

However, under the baptism of the terrifying energy tide, the process was not that easy.

Completing this ceremony required soul permeation, energy integration, and magical shaping, all three indispensable!

This required an immense and precise computing power!

And the soul strength of a fifth-circle grand wizard, as well as the presence of powerful enemies, wouldn't allow him to slowly complete the ascension.

Lynn could only rely on the support of the magical network's computing power, multitasking, orderly, and rapidly constructing a body of magic and energy...

A series of winding rune chains rose from the ground, enveloping Lynn and the entire core array within, a formation specially laid out by Victorio. Without this legendary level of protection, he wouldn't have dared to complete the ascension ceremony in public!

When Cynthia realized she had been played, it was already several seconds later, unlike Monroe and Ivina, she naturally could see this was a different method of ascension to legend than the psychic ceremony!

And the opponent was ascending right in front of her, a blatant provocation!

Cynthia's eyes flickered with unspeakable rage, her entire body bursting with intense starlight, directly merging into the starlight and shooting towards the center of the platform, intending to disrupt the ascension ceremony.

"Stop her!" Harof shouted with all his might, well aware that their only chance of victory was to hold out until someone successfully ascended!

The wizards present reacted in unison, bombarding Cynthia with magic, attempting to directly bring her down…
