Is it bad that I don't want Caleb to read the light novel? I mean I love the show and I'm just getting to the light novel which I also love and I would love for others to get into it too but... I would really like him to have a blind reaction to the movie when it comes out.

The problem with that is the fact that most people who are given absolute war time powers aren't willing to relinquish it when peace rolls around. I mean, that is where the word dictator comes into place as being tyrannical, pretty sure the Romans had dictators which are meant for exactly what you described, but they ended up never wanting to relinquish their powers.
