118 - Sketch of the Month 🎃 - The Spooky round 8 - 🏆 👻 (Patreon)

The results are in and here's how Tier 2 and 3 patrons have voted!

- On the 3rd place we got Kivala (Kamen Rider) with 2 votes!
- The 2nd place was claimed by Ivara (Warframe) with 3 votes!

The rest of the nominees [Mavis Dracula (Hotel Transylvania), Nekros (Warframe), and Oswald (Fallout4)], all got 1 vote each, which was heart-warming to notice, tbh. c:
Altho I realised I've made a mistake by adding 3 more characters to the list, which was too much and the votes just spreaded between too many nominees (I almost had to push all the character onto this top3 chart pic... the space wouldn't have been enough on the platforms for the crowd). So next time I won't add that much characters myself, that's for sure (unless I need to, I guess).

To talk about the champion for this month; it was indeed a surprising nominee... and I guess you guys like big guys, cuz he.. well, he is a version of Venom after all, so the outcome wasn't that surprising. :]
On the other hand, he is the FIRST male character that had won a Sketch of the Month competition! All previous occasions were won by chicks (I was even thinking doing an only-males session for once to change this, tbh xd).
For this Top3 chart pic, I used the new brushes I discovered while working on the previous month's sketch. The building they are standing on was inspired by the Addams family castle, and the number of windows symbolise the ranks of the characters above. There are 4 ghosts scattered around (and one Amongus figure, as well as, one ghost is an amonghost too).

Now lemme talk about the winner's sketch;
This was done under 4-5 hours. I used a reference of a person who was posing for the camera as base. I thought, cuz some of his back muscles were visible on the photo, that it would be useful... But the guy was more slim, and extra slim compared what I had ended up sketching. xd It was actually challenging to make this picture cuz there's not many images out there where the back and back-side shows up of a person/character, and I don't have enough reference or study pictures either (of bara characters especially). So I bet there are inaccurate points on the anatomy part of the drawing.. (obviously some changes had to be made anatomically so the character could be shown.. cuz like.. I bet you can barely see his face when he looks back with that big size of a back he has :'d)
There's not much references of this character either, btw. Google mostly showed me figures and statues of him, so that's what I used. I know the character isn't as buffed on my drawing as he should be, I still gotta practise a lot in that matter.. :'d I think he came out acceptable.

Talking of the process of the drawing:
- At first I did the center figure. I tried to stop myself when it was still gray and mostly colourless, thankfully I kept on trying and overall the colours came out fine in the picture, in my opinion.
- After the middle, I started sketching the head in the bottom right corner. I was still checking out google images and kinda just started drawin the eyes, and just a grin. It ended up in a nice sketch.
I drew a thinking bubble next to this, but didn't know what to put inside that cloud. I don't know the character, so I looked up the wikipage in hopes to find something fitting there. There's not much to read there tbh.. Then I tried to add a pixelated box there, implying it's something dirty and it's censored, would have fit that face (meaning it could be naughty or bloody what he's thinking about).. but I saw that pixelating censor to be too time-consuming of a work (in my drawing program that is.. in photoshop it would be easy). Then I started to draw something that I was thinking would come out as a slice of pizza... as you can see, it's more like a piece of cake. xd While doing this, I wanted to have pizza at first, but after this change, I thought I could go with some cake too. Thus content was made into the thinking bubble.
- Lastly, after noticing how that 2nd head came out so well, I thought I'd do another head sketch where there's still a blank space on the canvas. After 3 tries of making something, I finally made a happy goofy face for this character. I could kinda see Deadpool's cheerful nature in this while I was working on it. Btw, this was made while I was looking at a toy's head for reference. The expression in the eyes was a personal touch tho.
- Also, funny enough, while fixing the main sketch, the song "SexyBack" started playing in my media player... I kept thinking I should implement that text somewhere in the drawing, but in the end I did not.
- Because this was the winner for the Spooky month, and this character looks pretty scary/detailed and nasty, I tried to make him so, and also monsterous looking enough. Maybe I haven't nailed the shapes on all 3 head sketches, but I find 'em looking quite cool eitherway. This was also the first time I've ever worked on this character.
- When I revisited the art file for the last time, I realised I have forgotten to add the character's name in the picture (like I've done in most of the previous Sketch of the Month pictures as a habit). Had a bit of a dilemma where to put it. And after that, thinking because this was the winner for the event, and we are talking of a version of Deadpool, I thought it would be fitting to add a little crown onto his head as a signature of his victory. So there ya have it, there's also an alternative version of this project where he has a little crown on. uwu ✨👑
