86 - Festive vibes (Patreon)

Well, this wasn't the way I wanted my Carnage to debut, but I also wanted to make a pic with him wearing that sweater and it's just in time for the season.. xd

Last year I saw this tweet with this pic on it and I saved it for later use.

A few days ago I remembered this xmas sweater and was trying to figure out a pose for the presentation. I imagined a pose that would exress being proud, chest out high, hands on waist, looking up high into the distance. Then SOMEHOW I remembered the good ol' "Dick in a box" video, I laughed and knew I had to roll with it. Looking up pictures of this topic (thought I'd see a pose like I had in mind), I came across this picture:

I felt the need to include that text in my drawing aswell. xd
I think it's okay to show it like he's saying that. At first I thought I'd just write that text somewhere on the picture.. 🤔 But it fits the situation, I guess..

I haven't found any pose I had in mind, so I used sfm again. Sadly the Carnage models there are rather squatty (hope that's the english word) so I had to try to fix his look the way I imagine him (or shouldda just looked for a better sfm model.. next time maybe xd). I wanna make my version of him tall and slim, but still muscular (so, like the way he looks originally). I'll try to make him more like that next time. (I made him too muscular on this I think..)
I feel the pose couldda been better aswell, it's not that dynamic as I wanted to be, but keeping it to that form and working on the anatomy is something I still need to learn and practise.
I also tried to make something with his pattern. I once read a comment about his design where he has a black line vertically across his torso and the black part just spreads to the side; the comment was mocking him saying it made the guy think about chest hair and said it's bad. I'm a bit anxious not to make that image of him tbh (to avoid these comments).. But like- that's kinda like the cannon look for him so idk xd He has so many designs, but I still wanna stick to the original somehow or for the early ones, since I grew up on those (and I think they look cool and all).
So I tried to mix his pattern here (while looking at google images); spreading dark lines accross his chest starting from the middle part, and then closing in from the sides at the lower part of his torso. Kinda made me think of my symbiote oc while working on his pattern and drawing the lines tbh, but he was still different to work on..

Oh yea... the bulge on the box.. xD
I figured I'd add it while I was drawing brighter parts on the box, laughed, tried it out and showed to baguette, who asked to keep it, so... Just for the laugh, it stays. x'd

Added that xmas tree-wannabe so there'd be something in the background. Used a marker brush and only that for it on one layer. Also added lil "webflakes" (instead of snowflakes) to fill out some blank part on it. I tried to add a sofa on the right side of the background (that looks like the one I used on one of the drawings with gwen), but couldn't make it right so I dropped the idea.

At the begining of my working I used pencil brush for the whole drawing. Kinda regretted it, cuz this brush also makes transparent lines, and the white part of the eyes were showing under the lineart. So had to drew over the eyes and the teeth, using a normal brush for better, darker lines. The said text was the same situation; I re-wrote it to make it look better. I made the sweater's text with a normal brush by default, so didn't have to go over that, luckily.

As for my version of Carnage:
I keep thinking he would be a troll kind of character, wearing funny texted/meme shirts or caps.
I own a comic part of the "Maximum Carnage" storyline and in that, there was a part where Carnage went on a raged ranting after one of his teammate tried to come up with a plan for their next move. Turns out Carnage's in for spontaneousness and loves chaos. So based on those readings, I guess it would fit him if his homepage would be 4chan or something ha.
I had and have plans for more content with him, I just avoided him drawing cuz of his pattern that I couldn't figure out how to make.. :'d I might just draw him differently everytime he shows up, ha.

Anyways, this was a good drawing experience. I had fun doing it and hopefully others will like it aswell.
