                                                               Wolf

Despite the massive size of the wave, it comes to a complete halt before folding over itself and returning the ripper after traveling for about a couple dozen meters around it, making me frown as I watch it. The wave then coats the creature’s body, making the chainsaw-like blades sticking out of its body only grow in size, making me rather worried in regards to actually touching it.

I send a wave of my own element at the creature, but surprisingly, it just ends up getting devoured by the void element the moment it comes into contact with the creature.

The hell?!

“Sapphire!” I shout, drawing her attention to me as the annoying announcer continues commentating our fight. “Return to my shadow! Now!”

Sapphire immediately does so, and immediately afterwards, the ripper swipes its right arm across the air towards where she just was, sending all of the void energy wrapping it up like a blanket to swarm out to that spot. Then it slowly is drawn back into him again, making me really wonder why this thing is called a ripper when that doesn’t appear to have anything to do with ripping something apart.

After all of the void energy is back inside of it again, I watch as it turns to face me, the crowd roaring all around us in their excitement. But I can’t help but stare at the creature, watching its every movement like a hawk.

Several tense seconds pass before I eventually spread my arms out and send a wave of icy flames at it, hoping that this’ll do better than the ice. But it doesn’t. All it ends up doing is begin swallowed up by the void element as well, and somehow pissing the creature off as it begins charging straight at me.

“It looks like we’ve finally found something that could be a true match for The Winter Wolf, folks!” Mikaela shouts, his voice echoing annoyingly in my ear as I jump out of the way of the ripper’s charge, shifting into my wolf form and landing on all four feet over a dozen meters away from it. “Does the creature have a full ice immunity? Or is its void element just too potent for The Winter Wolf’s ice to do anything?!”

I start prowling around the creature, slowly making circles of it before it tries to send out another wave of void energy at me. But I simply jump out of the way, using the enhanced speed and maneuverability that my wolf form gives me to dodge it without much issue.

Honestly haven’t needed to use this form much. It was kind of becoming pointless to be honest.

I continue running and jumping around it for a few minutes, just watching it in search of a weak point. But I never manage to find one. And eventually, the creature appears to get sick of our little game of tag as it stops dead in its tracks and spreads both arms out.

My eyes narrow, and I can’t help but feel the hairs at the back of my neck stand up. So I immediately switch to my hunter form, letting my claws stretch as I rise back to standing on two feet at my full height, with both of my wings spread out behind me.

“Now that’s a sight, folks!” Mikaela’s voice echoes in my ear, making me really want to slap him just to shut him up right now.

I watch as the ripper slowly begins to grow. First just a few inches, then nearly half a meter, then it suddenly shoots up in size and becomes about ten meters in height out of nowhere, leaving me gaping up at it. But I only stare for a few seconds before flapping my wings and flying up to about chest level with it several dozen meters away.

The crowd watching us – which I note seems to be a lot larger than when I first came here – grows wild, their cheers acting as a nonstop pain in my head. Quite literally.

Meanwhile the ripper stops growing and spreads its own arms out, the blades across its body having grown with it to massive sizes that make me want to stay far away from them. But I don’t get that wish as it immediately rushes towards me, moving much faster than its size would suggest possible and reaching me in seconds. I try to back away, but my arm still gets caught up as its hands clap straight where I was at, with dozens of blades sawing away in between its hands, cutting my arm to ribbons.

I grit my teeth, holding back from letting out a cry of pain thanks to what used to be a pain resistance, or was it pain immunity skill? I can’t remember anymore which. But either way, I pull back dozens of meters with my wings, just holding my shredded arm with my other as I watch the creature further.

Slowly my arm begins to grow back, but with a noticeable drain on my stamina in the process.

The creature suddenly starts to move forward again, so I shift my entire body into voided eternal ice element, scattering it in the windless void to avoid its attack. Then I reform back together several meters away, narrowing my eyes on the void creature that still hasn’t made any intelligible noises this entire fight.

Likely means it’s not sapient I guess.

“This has to be the first time in who knows how long we’ve seen The Winter Wolf truly struggling again in a fight!” I hear Mikaela shouting, sounding annoyingly excited over my struggle. Way too excited.

I don’t take my eyes off of the ripper though, as it quickly begins to come after me again. So I once again elemental shift to avoid its strike. But this time I stay shifted, simply forming a blizzard around us and making sure not to have any of my element touch the void element on the creature’s own body.

When it clapped my arm, the void element itself didn’t seem to do much. Just protected it from my own element without actually hurting me. Not that its physical body needed any help in hurting me that is.

So… there’s not much else I can try beyond attacking it physically.
