The Rise of the Winter Wolf book 4 has a new cover.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                                                   Wolf

The moment I enter the two hundredth floor, the very same notification that I got when I entered the one hundredth floor appears. But with a couple minor differences.

Okay, nothing new outside of that last bit. And even that was for the most part on the one hundredth floor. Just that it was added in a bit later.

I look around for a few seconds, briefly noting our surroundings before focusing on the others, including the five large wolves and Sapphire. Each of whom are all looking around as well.

Nothing seems to be happening so far. Does that mean that whatever the Ruler is planning isn’t going to be something involving the dungeon?

Or maybe he’ll just be sponsoring me-

My thoughts pause as the regular sponsorship notification about the auction beginning appears in my vision before promptly vanishing again.

-something bad again?

But that wouldn’t work, since I still have System Favor. And that’s not exactly hidden knowledge, at least from the Administrators’ perspective.

So what could he be planning?

I frown as I try to figure it out, only for the sky to suddenly shake. Or at least, I think it shakes? Kind of like it began wavering like water before stopping again.

What was that?

“Did you see that, Sapphire?” I ask while still looking up at the sky, but Sapphire just responds with a question, “See what?”

So I just shake my head and answer, “Never mind.”

Either I should be really worried about that, or my eyes are playing tricks on me.

I stare up at the sky for several more seconds, past the tall buildings around us before eventually looking down again and saying, “Alright, let’s head out.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“What?” I mutter after reading through the list of sponsors for this round. “I… what?”

For one, why is Tiamat sponsoring me? That doesn’t really make sense. I’ve never interacted with her before, and she’s related to the one who originally initialized the Milky Way Galaxy in the first place.

It just doesn’t make sense.

But what makes even less sense is that last one.

What’s even going on there? Is there maybe a way for someone to sensor their name when sponsoring me? Or did the System do that itself?

And if that’s the case, why also sensor the ranking?

A flash of green light shines out as usual before I find myself in the System’s Grand Hall again, with the five wolves and Sapphire all here with me. And almost immediately after arriving, my eyes are attracted to a very interesting object on the far right end of the counter. One that I can’t seem to take my eyes off of now that they’re there.

The object is some sort of floating necklace with a fancy looking vial of blue liquid attached to beautiful, pale blue chains of a metal I don’t recognize. But what’s even more mysterious about it is the pure ice element the thing is giving off. Ice element even purer and more powerful than my own, which I wasn’t sure was possible at this point.

Purity wise that is. Not power wise, seeing as there are still plenty of higher leveled ice magic users in existence.

I quickly find myself walking over to the item, blatantly ignoring the others as my eyes don’t seem to want to leave the last one before I reach over and grab it on instinct, placing it over my head a second later. Then, as if awakening from a trance, I finally realize that Sapphire has been pulling my arm and even trying to yank the thing out of my hand while shouting during this whole time.

“-ad, why did you put it on without even reading the description!!!” I hear the tail end of her shout as she punches my side lightly with tears running down her eyes.

I blink in surprise.

What… just happened?

“I… don’t know,” I mutter before looking down at the pendant, just to see it glowing with a faint pale blue light. One similar to the light my own ice and eyes give off. “It was like I lost control of my body the moment I saw it…”

Wait, what does it do!

I immediately jerk my head up to read the description of the item. Only to be left furrowing my brows.

What?

I… what?

I vaguely feel Sapphire letting go of my coat for a second, just for her to grab onto me again with both hands while shaking.

“This doesn’t look good,” I mutter while staring at the pale blue words for a few seconds, only for them to vanish again. But then, right when I lower my head to look at the pendant again, I hear words begin to echo through the room. Words that have an almost ethereal feeling to them, mixed with something that makes a shiver go down my spine out of pure cold as the temperature in the Grand Hall drops and ice and frost start accumulating on the walls and floor.

“Take this blessing. It will activate on its own when the time comes.”

The pendant then begins to fade out of sight. But despite that, I can still feel it resting against my chest.

I try to touch it, but my hand just goes straight through the thing.

Sapphire even tries to reach up and grab it, but fails just as badly as I did.

Following that, we both just stare at it for several seconds, along with the five wolves around us.

Okay, so… am I going to be getting surprise gifts that I don’t fully understand every sponsorship from now on, or is this just a thing from this time and the last one?

Sure you mean titania? She has sponsored the sword on the 150 floor. Do you mean per chance tiamat the chaos dragon?

This is what I get for writing chapters past midnight. That and using two names that are incredibly similar for two different important characters.
