First, I spawn in the large worm in a little room I made above the mini boss room for it to live in when there aren’t any intruders in the mini boss room. The worm spans several meters in length, and is pure black in color with several rings of sharp teeth, each coated in some black, misty void energy.

After that, I begin the process of turning it into a mini boss by infusing a large amount of mana into it, quickly making it grow. And grow. And grow.

Uh… is it going to stop growing or am I going to need to expand the mini boss ro- Oh, never mind.

The creature stops growing at nearly twenty meters in length, being just barely large enough to fit in the mini boss room tunnel. But its size isn’t the only thing that’s changed as the outside of the creature’s entire body seems to grow harder until it practically looks like some sort of black metal.

Okay, the name for this creature is pretty easy to think of.

“I call you Wormy,” I state with absolute confidence, uncaring of how childlike it sounds.

I just thought that it would be interesting to see the intruders’ reactions to finding an enormous and terrifying worm called wormy breaking out of the tunnel wall and chasing them through the tunnel while trying to eat them.

Out of curiosity, I spawn a random human in the tunnel before sending Wormy to go kill it as a test. And Wormy does just that. It lets out a weird noise sounding somewhere in between a shriek, a screech, and a roar while digging through the floor of its room, which repairs itself after the last of its body passes through. I then watch the creature circle around the tunnel a few times, making the human grow more and more nervous until it suddenly bursts through the wall and eats it without giving the human a chance to avoid it.

Okay, on second thought, maybe I should’ve had a Tier 2 monster testing it out. Or an invader.

With that in mind, I reset the test but with a Tier 2 human this time. And unsurprisingly, the human manages to avoid Wormy’s initial attack and strikes back at the side of its head with its fist, only for the fist to bounce off with quite a bit of force. Moreso than you’d expect from just hitting something hard.

Interesting.

The worm quickly retreats out of the tunnel again, moving much faster than its size should permit as it just eats through the dirt and somehow sealing up the tunnel it had made in the first place to get to the mini boss room.

Very interesting.

I examine Wormy’s body before finding several tiny little weak points in the areas between segments of its body, along with one large area at the center of the end of its tail where the metallic armor doesn’t reach and it’s vulnerable.

So for an intruder to kill Wormy, they’d have to bait it into missing an attack, then manage to hit that tiny weak point. And while that doesn’t sound too complicated, it really is very complicated thanks to Wormy’s incredible speed, and the tiny size of the weak points.

Not to mention figuring out about the weak points in the first place. Or seeing them in the otherwise pitch black tunnel, which will have to be lit up by them through their magic.

I watch Wormy make two more rounds through the tunnel before getting pissed at the slippery human, charging straight into and then down the tunnel, and gobbling up the human.

Hmm. Looks like that weak point at the end of its tail should only be revealed when the creature is rushing through the tunnel like that, since that’s the only time they’ll be able to get behind it for long enough to actually attack that. Unless they’re just Tier 3 intruders who really shouldn’t be in here.

I spawn in a couple more Tier 2 monsters of different species and watch how they work out as well before shifting my attention towards the room in the center of the tunnel. This room is meant to be a bit of a respite for the intruders, since the mini boss can’t get in, and the doors are linked there through portals. Meaning there isn’t actually a room at the center of the tunnel ring. Just empty space for Wormy to dig through.

The thing about the room though is that the intruders can’t stay in it for longer than two minutes at a time and the room is filled to the brim with traps and a few monsters as well monsters. But the exit within the room will also send them back at random doors within the tunnel. This makes it so Wormy can’t just stand guard at a door, and so they can’t directly use the doors to their advantage.

Speaking of Wormy, my attention is brought back to it as it returns to its room again and goes to sleep. Which looks a tad intimidating considering its size. Also, I might want to expand the size of its room a bit.

So I quickly do that while it’s asleep.

After that though, I look through the entire floor again, just to make sure that everything is good. Which doesn’t take very long, considering that there aren’t any particularly complicated parts to this floor. Just a large number of different pathways that the intruders can take, with monsters and traps scattered throughout them.

I also made the catacombs without the use of any portals or randomizing and bewilderment enchantments so that the intruders can map out the floor. Because it’s not supposed to be an impossible floor. More of an introduction to the void floors.

My thoughts are interrupted when Dawn suddenly teleports into the catacombs and begins talking to me, “Something else that having your dungeon in the void gives us is security.”

That’s kind of random.

“Outside of void element users, no one can open a portal into the void,” Dawn continues while floating around the floor. “This means that if we’re under attack, no one can just break through the floors to go to the next one. Since they can’t just break through the void, and you’ll likely be using portals to different locations within the void to serve as different floors.”

Huh. I didn’t think about that.

“That’s actually pretty nice, but what brought this up?” I ask out of curiosity.

Dawn teleports to my core – of which I’m now in the process of moving down to the next floor – before saying, “Was just thinking about the dragons.”

Oh. Right. Those.

I glance at the sealed off area that leads to the slumbering creatures.

It’s comforting to know that they won’t be able to just break through my floors to get to me if they feel like it.

I stare at the wall for a few seconds before focusing on moving my core again.

Anyways, almost time to open the new floor to intruders!
