Don't mind this. It's so that free readers can't see half the chapter.

Alexander North

After the battle, Dad quickly arranges things for the planet. His own heat energy along with the remaining heat energy from the angel from before ends up clearing out a large portion of the world of its remaining Eternal Winter. Albeit with some of the skies and space in general above the planet still being covered in the ice, snow, and shards.

But he quickly transfers all of the survivors of the planet onto the flagship. A ship far larger than large enough to store everyone.

I’m actually rather surprised that they got the ship fully outfitted with cold energy power supplies for everything.

Although, judging by the sources of heat energy I sense every now and then as we march through the ship towards the bridge, maybe it’s not just cold energy they’re using.

Well, anyways, Dad also takes in the soldiers and assigns them to various positions in the ship based on their ranks. None of which are particularly high, seeing as none of the military officers on the tourist planet of Arran were very highly ranked in the first place. What with it being a tourist planet in the first place. One far away from any combat.

Which ironically ended up making this place more dangerous with more casualties, according to Dad. Since there were fewer people here to defend it from the Eternal Winter.

Also, while we walk, I go ahead and fill Dad in on what the Sun God told me. Only to find that they already knew some of the conflict from their own interactions with the angels.

Angels who, unlike the one on our world, worked together with the people of the world to defeat their Vanguards when they arrived.

But our world had no Tier 4s, much less Tier 5s.

So our world was just screwed from the get-go.

Speaking of the angel from our world, Dad sends soldiers to go retrieve them and bring them to the flagship to help them recover. Since the Sun God’s forces are our allies.

Then Dad begins to speak to me about his own new powers as we finally arrive at the bridge.

“My heat energy powers came about, according to the angel, due to the cold energy in the Eternal Winter reacting with the strong heat energy in my body,” Dad explains, sounding like he doesn’t understand half of what he just said himself. “Something about an automated defense by the heat energy that caused my body to mutate a little because of it, pretty much activating the energy inside of me in the process.”

Right. So a bunch of gobbledygook.

“General, sir! I have a report!” one of the soldiers in the bridge marches up to us as we approach the fancy looking chair in the center of the top floor of the multi-level bridge. With there being three different levels beneath this one, each filled with soldiers and officers running about along with a bunch of computer terminals. No doubt for operating the ship.

“Give it,” Dad states as we continue approaching the chair. At which point said chair starts to spin around to reveal the man sitting on it.

Uncle Rainald. The emperor of the Empire.

He just smiles at me and waves without saying anything, giving the soldier time to make his report.

“All of the refugees have been taken in from the planet surface, leaving only the lower Tier frozen ones behind,” the soldier begins. “Amongst the refugees and soldiers, a total of one hundred and seventy-one mutated ones have been found. Furthermore, only two thirds of those numbers are soldiers.”

Dad raises his hand to halt the soldier before he turns to me and Uncle Rainald and says, “Why don’t you to go catch up while you see Cynthia. I’m sure she’ll want to see you both.”

Uncle Rainald’s eyes light up at the mention of his daughter and he quickly gets up from his seat. Then he puts his hand on my shoulder and starts driving me towards the exit of the bridge while the soldier resumes his report.

After the automatic door to the bridge closes, and we enter the smooth, octagon shaped, metal hallway, he gives me a hug and says, “I’m glad you’re alright, Alex. And thank you for keeping Cynthia safe.”

I pat him on the back in my form of a return hug before he lets go, chuckling a little.

“Still haven’t changed?” he says, half in question and half in statement. Likely referring to my aversion towards hugs.

I shake my head before smiling at him and saying, “Neither have you.”

He just laughs at that, after which he turns to one of the soldiers following us who are no doubt acting as bodyguards and says, “Take us to the refugees from the Vanguard battle. I would like to see them all.”

“Of course, Your Majesty,” the soldier declares.

Then the three of us move through the halls of the ship until we end up on one of those trams within the ship. Simply because the ship is too large for us to travel across the entire thing on foot.

And when we reach it, the emperor starts to ask about everything I personally experienced on Arran.

So I go ahead and run through everything with my uncle.

Because ever since I can remember, he’s always treated me well.

The man cared deeply for his sister before Mom died. And that care seems to have transferred over to me in some way, since he treats me a lot like he would a son sometimes.

Although part of that may also be the fact that I’ve heard he wanted a son as well but has never been able to have one. Not to mention how me and Cynthia were playmates growing up and he saw me quite often.

Meanwhile the soldier just kind of openly stares at me in shock as I tell my story.

Which, I have to admit, is rather amusing to see.

Book 2 will be ending tomorrow most likely. Then the daily chapters will come to an end as well. Although there will still be more chapters than there used to be simply because I need to refill the advanced chapters after I dump them all on Royal Road so that the Royal Road readers can read all of book 2 before I stub it to Amazon.
