Now that the Frozen Lord down here is dealt with, I go ahead and begin flying up through the hive with the soldiers following behind me. All of them acting as if they’re bodyguards or something.

Probably because of Dad.

And when we all reach the surface, I find a rather awe-inspiring battle going on.

Both Dad and the Vanguard are clashing in the air, sending shockwaves with each of their hits. Meanwhile Dad is also blocking hits from several other Frozen Lords at the same time. One of which is that same female Frozen Lord that I saw before.

But none of the Frozen Lords’ hits are doing shit to him. At all.

He easily blocks them all. Even melts some of whatever they used to attack him thanks to the extreme amount of heat energy radiating out of his body.

Along with the awe from seeing the battle, though, I also feel some… not sure what this emotion is, to be honest. Just that I know I want to get as strong as him as soon as possible.

Because the idea of being protected makes me feel sick for some reason.

Wonder if that’s one of the side effects of my new species or something?

Regardless, I watch Dad repeatedly clash with the Vanguard and the other Frozen Lords for a while before one of the Frozen Lords decides to change tactics and go after me instead. Which doesn’t end well for said Frozen Lord since I jump straight up and slam my fist into her face, this Frozen Lord being the exact one I was pretty much defeated by before.

And man does this feel good as I send her flying through the air straight back towards Dad, who grabs her by the throat and crushes said throat without a word.

All while shock is blatantly displayed in her gaze.

The now-deceased Frozen Lord no doubt surprised by how strong I’ve grown in such a short period of time.

That felt good to see. Because I felt like shit after she so easily defeated me before.

I glance back at the hive with a faint smile on my face.

Guess these hives did serve a purpose after all.

Just that it wasn’t the purpose that they were probably made for.

I turn to look back up when I hear a loud roar of anger echo out across the mountains. And I surprisingly find that it’s the Vanguard who is doing the roaring.

He looks very pissed.

Wonder why?

Was it the death of that Frozen Lord? He didn’t seem fazed by the other Frozen Lord who died, and I doubt these frozen ones give a shit about each other from what I’ve seen.

So what was it?

“Destroyer, do you have any idea of what you just did?” the Vanguard practically growls out as an icy mist flows forth from his body.

Destroyer?

I glance at Dad.

Did the frozen ones give him a nickname?

I stare for a few seconds as Dad answers, “I dealt with a nuisance who chose the wrong opponent.”

Yeah, Destroyer fits.

“That was my sister,” the Vanguard says out of nowhere, making my head jerk around to look at him. And I’m not the only one as quite the number of people look surprised by that revelation.

“I wasn’t aware you creatures were capable of having siblings,” Dad says, sounding a little intrigued himself.

The Vanguard, of course, doesn’t say anything useful after that. He just says, “I will destroy you.”

Then he rushes straight at Dad again while expelling quite a bit of cold energy. So much so that he’s practically turned himself into a rocket fueled by cold energy.

At the same time, the other Frozen Lords rush at him as well. With the dragon-like one taking the lead.

Only for Dad to spread both of his arms to his sides and declare in a rather terrifying tone that echoes throughout the mountains, “If you’re in that big of a rush-”

An enormous and blinding wave of light and heat rushes out of him to meet the incoming Frozen Lords and the Vanguard, enveloping them entirely within it. And it’s not just them that are enveloped, but the Eternal Winter near us is drawn into it as well or simply melted if it’s too far away to be drawn in but not too far to be out of range entirely.

But I quickly find myself having to close my eyes when I feel some faint pain coming from them. An act that everyone else is no doubt repeating.

A dizzying ringing sound echoes in my ear for several seconds before the light finally begins to fade. Revealing a rather surprising sight to me and everyone else.

All of the Eternal Winter in the mountains is gone, and along with it are the frozen ones.

Every last frozen one is just gone. Including the Frozen Lords and the Vanguard.

They’re just gone.

Not a single speck of them remaining.

Wow.

That’s just…

Wow.

I turn my head towards Dad, only to find him slowly floating down to the ground before dropping to one knee with his hand on his head. Proving that what he just did wasn’t easy for him to accomplish.

Without hesitating, I run up to him before offering a hand. One that he quickly grabs and lets me pull him up to his feet again by.

Then he just grins at me and asks, “So? What’d ya think?”

That almost has me rolling my eyes as I realize why he went a little overboard there.

He was showing off for me.

Probably because he’s never been legally allowed to show me his full power before. What with the laws restricting Tier 5’s abilities.

I smile wryly at that with a raised brow before tightening my grip on his hand a little and letting go as I answer, “It was great. Thanks for the help, Dad.”

He smiles back at me and says with more than a little emotion in his voice while the soldiers are all landing around us, “I’m glad I was able to arrive soon enough to help.”
