Most behaviors in my life run on a cycle— engage in behavior, guilt, shame, vowing to change, short-lived success, plummet in motivation, repeat. 🔁

What are some old behavior patterns of your own? Are there any solutions that have worked for you in the past that you might be able to utilize now—even if they aren’t a “forever” fix?

In and of itself, this is a great prompt. But, thanks for going the next step and sharing your example. Your willingness to be vulnerable with these sorts of things is generous and inspiring (and, I think, shows great strength). Thanks Dani.

Thank you 😭 I talk about ADHD a lot but not about having an eating disorder. It’s still hard to open up about. Thanks for making me feel less scared 💖

Using food as a comfort is one of mine too. I have this bad habit of "I'm watching TV, I need something to snack on" and also "I'm feeling snacky, but I need something that doesn't involve my hands while I eat--I'll watch some TV!" I'm working on trying to break that but...yeah, no success with that. I do have a fidget spinner and a Rubik's cube near my sofa and playing with those does help with the snack cravings some.

I picked up doing Rubix Cube a couple months ago!!! It’s my favorite now that I actually know how to do it 😂

I relate to this completely. My solution (a few years ago) was to try a half marathon. I was determined to walk it if I had to. For a year, little else mattered. I could run 20 seconds. In the end I ran the distance slowly. Lost loads of weight. Now I’m trying CBT as a solution. I think, after a few weeks, it’s beginning to have an impact. It’s so hard. Thank you for posting.
