This infographic will be a little different than the comics I usually make, but I’m hoping that people will find it helpful! :) It’ll be one image for the final, but this is what the sketches look like

After I learned that I had lived with ADD for my entire life and done pretty well considering that and my life long clinical depression, I decided that I would talk openly about both- for my benefit and for the benefit of others. I have lived with both and never used them as an excuse for not "performing my tasks at work or in other situations." And, I was almost fired after 25+ years employed by a woman who refused to accept that I had any type of mental illness, even after receiving verification by several psychiatrists and an attorney. It did not happen because other people knew me and continued my employment, knowing that I had depression and a first class respect in my field. So, why should I let others limit my ability to speak about my hidden "disabilities?" So, lets stand up to stigma by presenting the achievements and knowledge of people with ADD and other mental illnesses. I remember when breast cancer had a stigma and people were afraid to talk about it or admit to having it. The stigma only went away when someone made it an open and respectable ailment and vowed to work with others to fight the stigma. Look here the "stigma" of cancer is today - mostly dead, even when caused by smoking cigarettes! So, we, as adults need to be more open and be proud of our achievements in spite of having ADD or ADHD. And, enable children and other adults to learn coping mechanisms, develop support systems, and use appropriate medications just as is allowed for people with diabetes and other life long physical health problems. Our brains are part of our bodies and should be treated as such. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health and both must be treated equally. If a pill or injection works for diabetics, why can't medication for mental health be just as acceptable? So, stigma will only end when we get "mental health medications" and treatment out of the police departments and into the treatment and acceptance world.

I would like to help you specifically with the stigma issue and a way of making this a ''getting rid of the stigma" because it is inappropriate post.
