Hey y’all! So I started on this back in October of last year, and just now finally finished all of them (despite having 80% of the work done... it’s always that last 20%).

Anyway, this new Faces series is based on common Cognitive Distortions from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). These help explain a lot about our tendencies, and how our thinking causes anxiety and creates storylines we can get swept up in.

Instead of posting each one by one, I wanted to share them all at once! Well, in two posts (Patreon limits how many images I can put in a post).

Which ones hit home for you? ❤️

So, Dani, this is serious stuff. Not that your previous work hasn’t been, but I feel this may need a little more context for some when you make them public.

For example, the second ‘set’ didn’t come with the introduction that the first did and I looked at it first - it was higher in my email. I was suddenly struggling to find myself in them. Normally, I see myself promptly in your work. Then, I saw ‘Downplaying Positives’. That was me when I was rather unwell - I’m a lot better now.

I gues I’m saying that these are truly powerful. Hopefully most won’t resonate all at the same time with too many. They are certainly accurate and the clarity of depiction is powerful and loud. I’m fine, but I did have a big anxiety moment foolishly ‘looking for myself’.

Thanks so much for your great work - take your time and never feel pressurised to rush. Prevarication can be a great boon, thank goodness! Well, at least it’s improved my work a few times at least 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

What if most of them resonate? Oh no! ;-) Maybe my top three are Personalizer, Should-Stickler, and Catastrophizer. Great reminder to recognize where we aren't helping ourselves. Great job.

I identify with almost all of those! Maybe catastrophizer and downplayer of positives the most. This has made me really interested in doing cognitive behavioral therapy. Now if I can just make myself start looking for someone covered by health insurance... >.<

I can relate to most of these - especially should stickler, all or nothing thinker, Downplayer of positives, fortune teller, mind reader and fairness judger. I am newly diagnosed (about a year ago) and my past experiences make SO much more sense now. It is a lot to process (reflecting on the past through a new lens). I really appreciate your comics and community / advocacy-driven mission 🙌🏻. You’re awesome at distilling complex topics into concise, relatable and meaningful visual content! Keep it up!

Side note - my work is in consulting / working with organizations to improve the employee experience and psych health and safety. Your faces series are really cool because they remind me of the human-centered design approach - eg develop archetypes to build empathy and encourage perspective taking. Love it - so people-focused and impactful 🤓

This series of yours is SO helpful to me—-They are each so insightful and have a huge impact because you have hit the bullseye. Especially, when I have shared them with my husband. He has ADHD, but his is different than mine. This is a great way for us to share “hey, this was me when...” Thank you!!!!
