March '24 Update (Patreon)

Hi Guys,

This month I am finally back to business as usual, which means an upcoming hardware release!

I consider it very, very important that I release something this month. Dealing with a first child and a major house move at the same time, and all of the associated stress, has killed my momentum.  I need a short self-contained project to get myself moving again, and so this month I am going to be releasing a new twist module concept.

This is a concept that has been brewing for a while. I like T-wist 4, but it has the downside that the servo is mounted on the receiver, with all of its weight and the pain in the ass factor of its electrical connections.

For T-wist 5 I will be using mechanical wires to drive the twist action, which allows me to move the servo off the receiver and onto the device body. This will make the receiver a lot lighter and avoid the need for all of the awkward wiring.

Of course I also want to be able to employ this new cable-drive tech in the squeezer design, so this is also a useful educational experience for me.

Those of you on the Maker ($8) tier should see the part files for this design before the end of the month.

The other thing that I'm making an effort to get back to is Livestreams. I have set myself the goal of livestreaming at least once each week, usually on a Wednesday, so those of you on the Supporter ($2) tier should get on discord and keep an eye out for when I announce those. I will of course be posting the videos afterward.
