With some more optimizations,  Sol 2.1 runs very well. I overlooked the complete code and made some important changes to the clouds generation. In CSP 1.72 release version, a new render stats app will come. I already used it to made the comparison. The things are greatly separated there.

Sol alpha 9 will be released soon. I just want to make some more cosmetic changes...

after installing this version i have big hangups when the rain starts. It freezes for 6-8 seconds with 10 AI. Even on its own and with minimal settings, it hangs for a second. Something is wrong. I'm using CSP 1.72Prev1. (Before that it was much better.) In the content manager it still shows Sol2.0 although 2.1 alpha9 should be installed. Does that indicate a mistake? Even reinstalling the old version doesn't work at all. I'm missing something here. I've been trying for hours. And so slowly I'm at the end ... and the OptionsMonster has eaten me. Any tips? CSP needs to be changed to load some shaders at start up. In the current versions, those shaders are first loaded, when they are requested (so if the rain starts). I try to implement a little fix, which shortly loads rain to force loading the shaders). This will be fixed in newer versions. But 6-8 seconds is very long for this. I haven't updated the version string for Sol 2.1 in CM, yet.

2021-09-12 17:51:17 Haha I somehow found my fault, but don't ask me how .... xD After changing to a very, very old CSP version (I know, not recommended by you,) and back to 1.72p, everything is back to the old little "Frameskip". Resetting to 1.71 or even 1.68 did nothing at all. But at 1.60 and back, it worked. Don't ask me why ... you're the pro ^^ But not only that! Before that, the ASW (Oculus Quest) always switched on because the frames fell below 72 ... Now I drive with a full 72 frames even in rain & night with 24 AI.... Fantastic. 8D
