Milestones! (Patreon)
Content
Welcome aboard everyone new for November, there are quite a few of you.
This month you all came together to hit a big funding milestone: At this point, patreon income is essentially covering my basic living expenses such as rent, utilities, and food, in its entirety!
My expenses have gone up quite a lot this year. I moved into a nicer place, more rent there. My junker car died on me, and the inflated used market pushed me towards getting a brand new car, hello to my first car loan and raised insurance. I also started putting a serious effort into growing my savings this year, so I'm putting extra money aside for investments.
So patreon isn't a catch all income source yet, but you are moving me there steadily! My direct pay from Catalyst Battletech work tops me up from here to the point where this and last year were my first truly financially comfortable ones. I've been able to buy small (and some big) things that I've always held off on. I've lived extremely frugal for years and got myself out from under some serious debt. Now I get to splurge a little. Though my frugal brain still winces haha.
Thank you so much for helping me at all levels.
Now I thought I'd ask for your opinions on a purchase I've considered for quite a while. When doing illustration/sketch work I use a Wacom Intuos 3, which is now a 16 year old product. I think it's time for me to upgrade to a Wacom Cintiq screen.
Most large cintiqs have been in the 21-24in range for screen size, but 3 years ago they dropped a massive 32in model. I'm thinking I keep my art hardware running so long I can get my moneys worth from such a crazy expensive piece of kit. Alternatively, the 24in model is much less expensive, but then I'm not stepping up my screen size, just adding art tablet functionality to it.
Do I go crazy and buy the 32in Cintiq, or keep it modest with a 24in?
