One of the things that I love about the ukulele is that it works amazingly well with simple melodies. If I am honest, the ukulele's lovely tone makes it almost impossible to make something sound bad, and in this video, I want to show you how even a simple melody sounds lovely. The melody we are checking out today is in the key of C major. We will be using the C major scale to build the melody, which is entirely played on the first string. Then, we will add the chords and the fingerpicking pattern. Enjoy the lesson. 0:00 Intro. 2:03 C major scale. 3:12 Section 1. Melody in C major. 6:38 Section 2. Melody in A minor. 9:44 Section 3. The last four chords. 🎸UKULELE I AM USING: Makai LT80.vv

Very nice piece. You are using alternating i and m right hand fingers for the single notes on the A string? Thank you.

Hi Steve. Yes indeed. It is better to alternate with either i-m or m-i. Good luck. Keep me posted on your progress.

Such a lovely piece. Challenging my right fingering capacity ATM as a beginner but have been following your good advise to take it slowly step by step. Thank you Marco 🙏.

I am an absolute beginner and working my way through. Thank you 😊 I think I will need some weeks but it is beautiful and worth a try. The last weeks I practised the c-scale but still can not read notes. I am sooo slow... do you have an advice how structure my learning process? Your videos are all so different and I don‘t know how to work my way through.

Hi Anne. First of all, welcome to the page. I am glad you love the uke as much as I do! I have a ukulele course coming up soon! I am already working on it, and it should be ready around April. In this course, we will talk about scales, chords, melodies, and fingerstyle techniques. The beginning is always a little challenging, but you are doing great practicing melodies and scales. Keep diversifying your practice routine with different things (like you are doing now) while I put together the best uke course for you guys.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am really looking forward to that upcoming course! Meanwhile I‘ll take your tips and try to do different things. Scales, melodies, fingerpicking. How you play is so different to all the others I‘ve found. So I‘ll stick with you. It suits me so well

More an interesting observation then anything else but I noticed the tab sheet is different in a few places then what you play in the beginning. I’ve been trying to play along with you to get my pace and timing down so I’ve watched this video a lot :D PS: thank you for the video and tabs again I’m having fun learning these melodies.

Hi Tommy. The main difference is that I like to strum the chords slowly. Apart from that, there are maybe one or two notes here and there, but 99% of the tab is there. The tutorial could have one or two different notes than the instrumental. (especially in pieces that are played with free tempo and allow so much space between the chords and the melody). I will do my best to teach the exact parts I play in the instrumental.
